    Hi Stephen, thanks for being such a great mentor. I have a question, I use Keepa (free extension) for the price history, and Helium (free extension) for BSR and price history . It's Helium reliable? Also, when Keepa (free one) and Camel,camel says " No price history " but Helium gives it to me, should I rely on it?. Thanks a million for any response.

    Note the Video at 11:15, further note the Sales Rank drop between April 2-April 12. If all those horizontal ticks are sales, why would the Sales Rand be dropping? Wouldn't all those sales improve the Sales Rank (or go up on this chart)? What all is the information they are charting here? I'm sorry to be such a stickler, but I really want to understand what it is I am looking at here so I can use the information effectively. Thank you for your patience.

    I may have found the answer to the Keepa chart question on Camel...(CCC) The CCC chart shows a sale for what looks like $10, well below the average $24.98 price the 3rd Party New Blue line is showing.( I am further guessing the dotted red line is the average posted price.) But on CCC It shows as one sale! Not all the ticks that are on the Keepa graph. Meaning, the Keepa graph is showing those ticks because it has no other way of moving down toward the time of the $10 sale! Which could also apply in the other direction. So, there is no way of knowing which of those ticks are actual purchases or just line adjustments to be able to show the timing of the sale especially in an upward swing because a sale would obviously cause an improvement of the Sales Rank! Therefore, in order to get the full picture it is necessary to use both Applications (Keepa & CCC) to get the correct status and history of the item. Further, Keepa shows the black line starting at the $50 used sale which shows just after April 20. Thank you for putting this together for us!

    I"m studying these graphs to try to make sense of them. When there is an increase in rank that extends horizontally, could that mean several sales? Or is it showing interest in the item therefore not increasing the rank? What type of activity causes the line to shoot up or down? And, does this graph make note of returns? That would be the only reason for lowering of rank after a horizontal dash. Is there any way of finding this out? Return rate could be very useful information for many items.

    This is a great video, thank you! Question - I see you counting the dips in the graphs as sales, can the same thing be inferred when you hover over statistics and see the amount of "drops" listed under sales rank? Or is the not really the same thing...?

    • @fulltimefba
      @fulltimefba  8 лет назад

      It's usually about the same... just takes an average when I'm counting actual dips... so most of the time the number is pretty close.

      I tested that drop number in Keepa against results from JSC, Amaze Owl, eGrow and FBA Tool Kit and they all vary significantly from 100% to 500% from AO's number. If Keepa's number is based on the BSR algorithms it becomes a dilemma on which number to use. However, if Keepa's number is gotten from the 999 method, then it is evident that Keepa's number is more reliable. How is Keepa's drop number obtained? Evidently, you have been successful using the results from Keepa so we should do the same.

    why does camelcamelcamel and Keepa have different BSR for the same products sometimes? I looked at an item on camelcamelcamel and its worst BSR was significantly lower than a BSR that was showed on Keepa.

      Great question... I go into this in more detail here: www.howtokeepacamel.com, but overall, both Keepa and CamelCamelCamel both gather the data at different times of the day... and at different frequencies. Keepa may get the data once and hour for one item while Camel may get it once a day. Also, Camel slows down the tracking some items if there is no demand for data for that item. There's more to it, but that's a basic overview of why the numbers may look different.

      Jungle Scout gives an estimate in sales based on sales rank.... but sales rank changes one an hour, so those estimates change too.

    Hey thank you for the informative video, however, I have recently come across selling on Amazon and I have a couple of questions regarding Keepa and Camel Camel Camel. First of all, what is exactly meant by the 'new' and 'used' buttons on the right hand side on the chart my daughter and I have tried searching for the definition or its purpose however they do not seem to make any sense. If you could make it clear to me by explaining these features that would be incredible, Thanks!

      I use the Scoutify app that comes bundled with the Inventory Lab software (www.fulltimefba.com/inventorylab). Scoutify has quick links to both CamelCamelCamel and Keepa right in the app that makes it super easy.

    You mentioned you don't like compete with Amazon when you show graph where we see that Amazon started selling recently. What if Amazon just tests the market at this point? Do you think their quantity is small enough for now for us to be concerned about and it would be a good move for us to source that product?

    • @fulltimefba
      @fulltimefba  7 лет назад

      I use the How Many app (www.fulltimefba.com/howmany) to see how many Amazon has in stock and then make my decision from there. Note: if the How Many app shows Amazon to have only 2 in stock, then this means they might have a lot more, but only allow people to buy a limit of two... and therefore the How Many app will only show 2.

    When considering the sales rank in order to discern how fast an items sells. You estimate Trivial Pursuit Totally 80's a "good item" in terms of holding a consistent price and selling quicker because of the sales graph. Isn't there a need to account for the number of competitors in the listing? Trivial Pursuit Totally 80's has s total of 180 listings among 3 categories.
    I'm curious if Keepa,Camel 3x & Jungle Scout Sales rank calculator bears any semblance of consistency in accuracy with each other and Amazon.com??

    • @fulltimefba
      @fulltimefba  7 лет назад

      I only look at competitors near the Buy Box price as competing with me. If someone is trying to sell this item for $10 or more over the Buy Box price, they are not my competition. Also, I only look at the data for the specific product page, not different ASIN's trying to sell the same item. All of the different tools do their best to estimate, and that's what they are... estimations and it's the best info we have to make a better sourcing decision. Hope this helps!

      I wish I could tell. I'm buried in metrics. There so many apps, extensions and websites that have "The"information, proven a difficult to discern which is reliable enough make my first shipment w/o experience. Record what I have and and take a shot in the dark and see what hits the wall??

    The list price, Keepa price and Camel price sometimes do not match. I understand these apps are not on real time.
    1) When this happens which price should be used?
    2) How often is Keepa data updated?
    3) How often is Camel data updated?
    Thanks,

    • @fulltimefba
      @fulltimefba  6 лет назад

      Keepa updates once an hour... Camel updates once a day. There are exceptions as items with higher ranks don't get checked as often... and sometimes the updates get paused because no one is seeking that item's info in a long time. I rely on Keepa most of the time and they are my tie-breaker if any data is different - I'll go with Keepa.

  • @_thechosen
    @_thechosen 7 лет назад

    I noticed that you make sourcing decision based of sales history chart but why you don't take into account number of competitors too? For example if we assume there will be 13 sales in next month, what if there are other sellers and their total amount of inventory is too high to guarantee that the next 13 sales will be yours?

    • @fulltimefba
      @fulltimefba  7 лет назад

      I do look at the competitors... but only the ones priced around the buy box. That is my only real competition.

  • @_thechosen
    @_thechosen 7 лет назад

    How do you deal with a situation where there was a sudden wave of competition entering after you sourced the product? Do you undercut if they all collectively have high quantities, making the product a slow mover or wait them to sell if you determined that their quantities are low?

    • @fulltimefba
      @fulltimefba  7 лет назад +1

      It all depends on how many competitors come in and where they are priced. If I can read the graph and know that I can wait out the competition, then i will do that. If not, then I'll lower my price to get my capital back and spend it on faster selling items. Good question!

    Is there a reason to use one over the other? Is CCC better at somethings than Keepa? Or vice versa? I tend to use CCC a lot but I want to make sure I'm not making a mistake by focusing on CCC over keepa and I also don't want to waste valuable time by checking both all the time needlessly.

    • @fulltimefba
      @fulltimefba  7 лет назад +1

      They both are really good to use.... I tend to use Keepa more and my wife uses CCC more. I think now Keepa has more advanced capabilities but both are phenomenal.

      It's like getting a second opinion. Both gather their data differently and at different times... so it's more data to make a better decision. But I don't think there is anything wrong with picking one and sticking with that.

    Kepa is no longer available for google chrome. Do u know why or where else to get it? Thanks in advance.

    • @fulltimefba
      @fulltimefba  7 лет назад +1

      For some reason, the Chrome store keeps removing the Keepa app and it takes a few days to get it back. The Chrome store thinks it's a spammy app, and automatically removes it... even though it's NOT a spammy app at all. Just wait a few days and it will probably be back. But know that once it's installed, then it will always work even if it's removed from the Chrome store.
