- Somerset Park is home to Ayr United FC who will compete in the Scottish Championship this season.
Stadium announcer Scott was kind enough to show me around this amazing football ground. It was designed by world famous, legendary architect Archibald Leitch.

Proper old school ground. Rather watch football in a ground like this than newer stadiums
Ayr is a great away day
Nothing stopping you
Why?
I loved this stadium. So much history and soul. Just amazing
Absolutely, what a place!
It’s the best stadium and yea I know I’m 2 years late
@@S.F._.EDITS. 👍
Great to get a good look around inside a classic Scottish ground, it was all shut when I visited but still looked great from the outside !
Love it. My own team. Somerset is hallowed ground to me.
Wow, didn’t know this was an Archibald Leitch stadium ! You learn something new every day !
You really do!
It’s a classic old style stadium that I think should be listed by Historic Scotland to preserve it. It was built in 1888!!! Full of character and soul.
Oh, I love this spirit of truely British football
My first ever Scottish football match was Celtic v Ayr Utd, at Celtic Park, in 1988 (Cup). I couldn't walk after the game, from sitting on the barriers in the terracing. My old man had to carry me down the steps until the feeling came back in my arse and legs.
Fair play, I’ve heard worse renditions of Tam O’Shanter.
I was at the 98 Scottish Cup tie with Kilmarnock, as a neutral (hospitality guest in the portacabins). Great day, great game, incredible atmosphere.
Another great video Sam. Ayr Utd are one of my local(ish) clubs - about 30 miles away, so very familiar with them and their ground. You certainly picked a great day to go there.
Just voted for you in the Football Content awards btw. 👍
Enjoyable and informative video........a real football club. The genuineness of the interviewee stands out.
Thank you! And couldn't agree more, Scott is an Ayr United legend!
Enjoyed showing you around Sam Glad you enjoyed it
Cheers Scott, loved it! Will be back for a match soon!
Love the football history posts 💙🏴⚪
Another great video keep it up, Never been to Ayr but looks like it would be a great away day
I’m a football fan from Australia, and travelled to Ayr in 2018 as my granddad lived there before moving to Australia.
Loved every minute when I found the club. Even got to hold the trophy they won in 2018. Later found out my great great great relatives played for the club. Once upon a time I never knew about the club, but now I keep up to date every weekend for them. Go on Ayr
Loving the consistency of great content sam. Keep it up mate
Superb old football ground, thanks Sam
Super Ayr !!! Greetings from Switzerland !
Another old school ground with so much character...cool video sir 👍
Cheers Ben, you really can't beat these grounds!
I like the old stand with the roof painted with back & white stripes
Proper football ground. Every ground used to like this in the UK.
Absolutely! These stadiums need to stay EXACTLY how they are. Love it!
Such consistently great content mate. Great work 👏🏻
Much appreciated Jack, glad you're enjoying the content! More coming soon :)
Another great video, well done Sam
loved the vid and also congrats on 24k!
Cheers mate! Love the support 🙌🎬🙌🎬
Great vid.. cmon Ayr ⚽️🤍🖤🤍🖤 glad you finally got to go in 👍🏼🥳
Go to the game at Somerset vs Kilmarnock, atmosphere should be good.
beautiful ground
what a fantastic ground and what a nice guy Scott was, don't get that stuff in the PL
This is what football is really all about. Love it. Clubs living by their own means. Not the financial doping that goes on down the road.
A sevconian pointing the finger at folk down the road for financial doping. 😂😂
Remind us all again, why were Rangers liquidated in 2012?
That's great coming fae a Sevco 12 fan.
My team appreciate it you coming to Somerset park keep up with the great videos man love the channel 👍
Thank you Martin, what a ground Somerset Park is! I hope to catch a game there soon!
Ayrshire derby this Friday night will be great atmosphere unfortunately I can’t go but it’s should be good
Been to this stadium a few times good day out
A great club. I've always had a lot of time for Ayr Utd.
They seem like a top club!
Congrats on 24k 👏👏
Cheers son 🙌
Love your channel 👌
Loving the videos, Somerset looks a little bit like a 1970s pittodrie
Also just an idea you could do videos rating stadiums in different council areas just like the kit videos
I watched on BBC Scotland when they beat Kilmarnock in 1998/99 SFA Cup. I remember back then thinking it looked like a great stadium. The atmosphere looked amazing.
I'm sure it's unreal for an Ayrshire derby!
I was right behind the goal 😀
Great vid
Cheers mate!
is the stadium near the beach/sea...i want to go for a swim before going to the game.
one of the best stadiums in scotland
Great Video my club, cannae wait to get back to a game
Thanks! I can't wait to see super ayr play!
Luv the vid
Thank you!!!
Motherwell fan but went along to a Ayr United v Brechin match a couple of years ago. The seats in the main stand are tiny! Designed for people that were 5'3 max!
And in 1910 they were closer to that, clue was in the first second of the video
i was at the game when we won it the last day of the season
You should come back to Palmerston Park, Dumfries
I know! That's another one of those old classics isn't it. Hopefully get down there very soon :D
There every other week 😊👍
Been there for an awayday in 2017 some ground
Nice! I bet it's great for an away day
A bit ironic but the Chairman and owner of Ayr United back in the day owned Barr Construction the company that built and renovated many stadia both in Scotland and England. The irony being he never spent a penny upgrading Somerset park.
Watched them training this morning ayr united i cant see promotion this year
In that League 1 winning season Ayr were 5 points ahead of Raith with 9 to play for and yet went into last day 1 point behind and with a 3-0 win over Albion Rovers and Raith drawing with Alloa 0-0 they just about got over the line
Yeah, Scott told me about that off camera. What a great title race that was!
@@FootyAdventures Apparently Raith hit the post with almost the last kick of the game v Allioa. Was utter relief when final score came in
@@mikepar2 Yeah they did Mike i forgot to mention that to Sam And the Raith game was a couple of minutes behind us also Longest 2 mins of my life
@@mikepar2 They did indeed. You can even see it, timed perfectly with what was going on at the time at Somerset here: ruclips.net/video/Q1ZR9lp9IYc/видео.html
What a day that was.
Other famous players included Dick Malone who transferred to Sunderland and was part of the FA Cup winning team under Bob Stokoe. Also you failed to mention Stevie Nichol who played for Liverpool and Scotland after leaving Ayr United. Finally look up Jimmy Smith he's in the records.
FYI Rabbie Burns wrote Auld Lang Syne a world famous ditty
Interestingly former Ayr United chairman Bill Barr of Barr construction built these new souless stadiumsup and down the country.
Oh wow what a strange turn of fate!
Ayr Ayr super ayr
My local club
Ayr United has had some good players such as Jim mcsherry alan mcinnailly ian mcailster jim fleeting john sludden sanny mcnesipe as ass manger to allymcleod
Sir Alex Ferguson as well 😏
Hi having a lot of trouble watching your latest video it just wont load
pity they got rid of their old traditional floodlights. must've been quite recently.
No even a mention of auld land syne known globally.
You should of told me you where over I could off met up with you 😢 i work at the club but it was my day off today
Ahhh sorry to have missed you Ross! I'll be back for a match soon! Keep an eye on my instagram story for my most up to date movements!
David Murray nearly bought this club...imagine.
yeah he would of ran them into ground then bailed before the liquidation!
LoL at rangers Murray's 2nd choice

My local team
Nice thanks for watching, hope you enjoyed!!
@@FootyAdventures yeah it was a great video like yours always are
@@benhenderson3773 Apprecaite that, cheers!
I’m more of a fan of Scotland’s worst poet.
Walter mccorrisken.: ‘on yonder hill there stood a coo.it’s no ther noo it must have shifted’.
A coo is a Scottish word for cow.
Nice ground Ayr. Their fans have a a bit of a hooligan Element though. Our bus was pelted with stones the last time I was there.
I enjoyed your video on the football shirts. Why not do one on the away kits?
fire up tay zulu mate
Somerset is falling down. Falling down. Falling down. Somerset is falling down. It’s a sh**e hole! 😅
Stay about ten minutes away from there tho not been in years
the stadiums that haven't changed since the 1960s....Ayr,Morton,QOS,Arbroath,Elgin,Dundee,glentoran.....not many in England maybe Everton,Portsmouth.....
Yes very true. Some need a bit of TLC but moving to a new soulless metal box is a big no no for me! Thank you for watching
Dundee got two new stands in circa 2000?
It is an auld shit pit
lol
