The speed or pace of taking things is something totally subjective. A potential partner would think you're taking things too slowly or too fast. Everybody has different expectations. Also, after taking the time to know somebody, they'll still be able to surprise you here and there no matter how long you took to know them. Another thing is that people change over time. Moral of the story? Life is gamble, do your homework, do what you see necessary, but don't think it's something that would save you. *Examples and experiences:* *1-* I knew my ex-wife as a close friend for 15 years before our friendship turned into a romantic relationship, 3 years later, we got married and the marriage fell apart after 10 months. No one could say we rushed things. *2-* A friend of mine is a fan of taking things slowly, he had strong feelings for a woman and it took them about 6 months till they had sex. The relationship fell apart quickly for sexual/intimacy reasons.
