    Just pulled apart the rear brake on my new-to-me Yamaha bruin 350 and found the rear end bearings and seals toast. Great info in this video, will help me rebuild the rear diff....Thanks for posting it up!

    working on a 99 wolverine with same diff - just started - is there a bearing in the end of the swingarm as well - behind or in my disk brake housing? havent looked to hard but the schematics show 2 rear bearings - i ordered both with seals but found loose balls behind the disk caliper bracket

    Man i wish you had a video of a 2005 kodiak rear end rebuild. mine has developed a clicking noise. time to replace. I plan on rebuilding the old one.

    I rebuilt the diff just as you did and when I connect it to the drive shaft it is binding up and will not spin. It spins fine when not connected but when I connect it will not turn. I have checked all of the shims and took everything back apart. Still the same. Do you have any suggestions?? I am out of ideas. Thanks

    MIne is a 1998 Big Bear 350, When I took my rear diff off, inside the drive shaft tube has some surface rust and so does the drive shaft. The splines look good. Can I put some Evapo Rust Krud Kutter in the tube and on the drive shaft, then wash it out with engine degreaser? Also I was thinking of lifting the rear end up so that the drive shaft is close to vertical and putting some engine oil or diff fluid in the drive shaft tube to keep it from rusting again. Would the drive shaft tube and rubber boot hold the oil or diff fluid? thanks.

    What size insert did you use to drive the seals and bearings out.

    Does anybody know where the serial number for the rear diff is on the 1998 big bear 350 4wd? I have ordered the All Balls Racing rear diff seal and bearing kit from Partzilla and it has the wrong bearing. I sent it back and they sent another and it still has the wrong bearing. I talked to someone at All Balls Racing and he says that it is the right bearing. He thinks that the previous owner replaced the rear diff with one from different model. When I bought it, it was only 5-6years old so I don't think it was. I am trying to get in touch with the guy I bought it from but that was 18 years ago.

    Would this same procedure apply to a 2005 Bruin 350 4X4 ? The Bruin differential looks just like this one. Reason being my coworker wants to sell me one. Says there is oil leakage on top of the differential. But it also making an ungodly noise. So I think the bearing is bad as well. But he says the rear end is not slipping or clunking. Also why didn't you replace the pinion bearing and seal while you were at it? There is a piece that requires tool with four notches to remove the collar.. I've heard you can use a punch and hammer and tap it sideways.

    • @400EX99N
      @400EX99N  6 лет назад +1

      ITS pretty much the same, the only thing you won't be able to do is the pinion bearings they take specialty tools to remove the bearings.

      Thanks for the reply. I guess if push comes to shove, I can replace all the other bearings but have the Yamaha dealership replace the pinion bearing and seal.

      the short metal tube should be pressed in the rear then the rubber hose attaches to that.

    There was still one ring left on your cloth that was on the right uppper side of the screen. Was that a replaced part or was it a spacer that was supposed to be re-installed also...?

    Hello, I was watching your video. I was wondering what problem my son might have. He has a 1995 Timberwolf 2t0 with 4x4. The rear wheel s don't drive just the front ?? Someone said they all have a same problem. But I am wondering , What that problem would be "?

    • @400EX99N

      It sounds like there is something wrong with the differential or the drive shaft. I would start there

    hey mark, I heard you say that you need a special wrench to change the pinion gear seal and bearing. i'm redoing all my bearings and seals. I have watched other videos but they don't show you how change that. can you let me know how and where I can get this wrench?

    • @400EX99N
      @400EX99N  8 лет назад

      +Derek Perkins check ebay for a tool that fits your machine. that's where I go to first.

    The bearing at 7:19 , i cant get out, would it hurt if i heated the bearing itself?

    • @stevenbuteaux
      @stevenbuteaux 3 года назад

      you would ruin the bearing. If your replacing it you could. I would heat up the outside where the bearing makes contact but you would want to replace the bearing if your going to heat it up.

    I agree with the procedure. The installing of the bearings was not correct. Should have used a press or the correct size seal driver

    That's not a differential, it's just a bevel gear.
