    Great Review - which brand of nails do you use in the Hikoki 16ga?

    (Caveat I'm not on the tools anymore, so only do limited stuff now) - Used a paslode on site for years , still have it never use it though. Just use air tools now, air hose is a PITA but flick the compressor on, air nail gun (dewalt) always works. If I was still on the tools I probably would buy something like the Hikoki mentioned.

    Ive found my Dewalt nailer is starting to constantly bend nails and the n is sliding past the nails and just jamming. doing my head in now, I have all the dewalt gear so going with something else might also be a pain. But I might if its way better. Just need something with more ooomf to go through 18mm oak on y stair jobs. Thanks

    is the pin and assembly just worn possibly?

      Hi Ian, my bulk of my kit was deawalt too when I jumped over to the Hikoki - there’s no comparison with it to the dewalt - you won’t look back, our dewalt and paslodes now collecting dust unused 👍🏻
      The kit comes with battery’s and a charger so it’s not too bad , I just went for the 5amp battery’s - we personally have no issues and they sink in lovley to what we’re firing in to.
      No too sure on the issue with Dewalt - ours was similar if tried in to anything like oak 👍🏻

      Thank you for taking the time to reply to me. I will definitely look to buy one then.
      I clad the stringers with 6mm oak mdf but use 1" panel pins because I hate seeing the hole nailer make. Very small nail punch too and a wax filler. That said, what does that small nailer leave for marks? Be good to get both, possibly 1 bare and 1 with batteries.
      I just ordered a new firing pin and the shoulder it sits on just in case it's worn. But I'm still think buying new.
      If you googled Clyde Joinery Ltd you'd see the stairs I do.
      But again, totally appreciate the reply.
      Ian

      Hiya mate,
      Bought one of these Hikoki finishing gun and it's misfiring constantly.
      I can't believe what the hell if going on.
      Just opened it for the first time and it fires one nail when I let the spring hit the nails then misfires constantly. Well, it fires but no nail comes out.
      Wish I could upload a video for you.

      Hi mate - when you say finishing nailer - is it the
      NT1865DMB 2nd fix 16g nail gun? The one that this video is reviewing?? If that is and it’s mis firing then 100 percent faulty so contact Hikoki - we have 3 of them and work great - the 23 gauge is a diffrent gun altogether - we have one and as mentioned in the video works great with the right material with the nature of a 23g gun - you won’t beat an airline if it is 23g your referring to for oak / but if same as this video contact Hikoki for replacement

    How have you found it with 63’s? Just sent my hikoki back because it’s leaving 10mm coat hangers with 63’s on mdf arcs into mdf linings. It’s worse than my 10y old badly serviced paslode. I’m getting a refund and I want to know if it’s worth trying another one or going Milwaukee

    • @topbuildcarpentry
      @topbuildcarpentry  3 месяца назад

      Yeah I’d try another personally , only as we’ve had such good results with all size nails , were all using Hikoki up here and loving them still, the Milwaukee I’ve not tried so couldn’t say but that also looks mint, I’ve been liking most of their stuff that I’ve had lately , imagine it’s also a great bit of kit 👍🏻

  • @dannym670
    @dannym670 4 месяца назад +1

    You need to be Arnold Schwarzenegger to use them 1st fix guns, granted they are good but Christ are they heavy, you wouldn't want to be roofing all day with one of those.
    Just bought the Milwaukee version of that 16ga so far so good.
    Had dewalt nailers for years with no major issues to be fair, paslode 2nd fix guns or any 2nd fix gas gun are so temperamental, i wouldn't have one if someone gave me one for free.

    • @topbuildcarpentry
      @topbuildcarpentry  4 месяца назад

      Yeah for sure we was paslode for years, lots of issues on the gas, for us a gun that just fires consistently without issues jamming etc is what it’s all about, our 2nd fix Hikoki’s are mint still this day , and our first fix (although we hardly get it out these days with type of work we do but still a nice gun.
      The Milwaukee gun looks great, we’ve brought quite a few of there other tools lately which been really impressed with , I can imagine it’s a great bit of kit 👍🏻

    I ordered this tried it today and it won’t seem to sink nails when fired into mdf arch and frame. Stays 2-3mm above! Works ok on the soft wood. Anyone else had this? I dunno if it’s faulty or just not upto it?

    • @topbuildcarpentry
      @topbuildcarpentry  6 месяцев назад

      Have you adjusted the depth to sink lower? If so then must be faulty as our three we have sink through mdf with ease 👍🏻

      @@topbuildcarpentry yes did that. I read other comments and seen that the rubber end causes it! I put the rubber off my old hikoki gun on it as it’s about 2mm thinner and that’s helped!

    Picks up the Paslode negative negative touch’s the nose after a comment…Body language says lies. I know carpenters that have had the same Paslode gun for over 15yrs and still going. You just a have a Metabo platform that’s why your singing it’s praises. Do the same tool review in 10 yrs I guarantee there will only be one gun left and it will be orange.

      😝 There is no biast review here, and good to see you assessing body languages on a nail gun videos 😂 ….. Ive had plenty of paslodes over the years and they certainly aren’t in the same league, sat collecting dust now after using the Hikoki, hence why I’ve done this video, there’s no paid ads on this, the video isn’t to sell you anything just my opinion after using these for years
