So glad you enjoyed Into the Drowning Deep! 🧜♀️ It felt very believable to me too but I totally could have done without a little of the drama amongst the crew haha. But it was fun overall! Loved the isolated setting like you mentioned.
I saw my book on the thumbnail. I have never been more bervous watching a booktube video! 😀Thank you for the honest review. And, mermaid horror! How have I never read a mermaid horror before!? Great videos as usual.🧜♀
lol, I was nervous to review it and when editing realized I was kind of all over the place. I'm excited to read edifice complex, I hear it is unhinged - which is always a good time!
🧜♀️🧜♀️🧜♀️ I was already wanting to read that Malerman book but now I really want to get to it! He’s someone that does really work for me so I’m super pumped. Great month so far!
I think it is a good one to go in and take your time with and not try to rush. I have to tell myself more often that it is okay to have quality over quantity.
I appreciate your discussion about motherhood through the lens of Bela's mother. Your thoughts about identity loss as a wife/mom resonated with me, as I'm sure it will with many others. While I did not care for Incidents Around the House, your review made me appreciate some aspects of the book. My favorite Malerman book (so far) is Daphne. I started Edifice Complex this week. I hope to finish it by the end of the month. I loved Into the Drowning Deep and the prequel Rolling in the Deep. I read this author's Final Girls in July and gave it five stars. I think you'd enjoy it. Fantastic video!!!
I feel like that is an aspect of womanhood/motherhood people don't discuss enough. I didn't realize Mira Grant wrote Final girls! I bet I would like that one too.
Into the Drowning Deep was a ride! I could totally see it as a season of American Horror Story 😂 you might The Feed by Mira Grant! It's a zombie book! 🧜🏻♀️
I looked it up, and it looks like a zombie series! I might have to seek that one out for zombiethon next year. I'd love to see deep sea /mermaid horror on american horror story. It is crazy how much we still have left to discover.
Skipping your review on incidents since it will be my next buggy read i dont want to know anything lol but i cant wait to come back and see your thoughts after. I try to warn people how science heavy into the drowning deep is. I absolutely loved it, but of course not everyone will care about the science which is totally fair 😂 🧜♀️🧜♀️
It is science-heavy, but I also enjoyed those parts. There were also a lot of weird interpersonal things going on between the characters that didn't seem necessary, but it also made some of the kills easier to enjoy.
I’ve only read 2 books by Josh Mallerman but they were both 5 stars.. they genuinely creeped me out. I read bird box and the sequel, I think you’d like them! I do have plans to read his new one soon!! Glad it wasn’t a total flop for you!
hmm, maybe it is that I've only essentially read his short stories (since Goblin is a book of novellas). I didn't read bird box only because I had already seen the movie, but maybe I will give it a shot
I'm so excited for Incidents! But I'm also definitely sensitive to how kids are portrayed (like intelligence level lol) in books. Love a good dysfunctional family tho
🧜♀🧜♂🧜 Great video, I enjoyed Into The Drowning Deep. The only other books by Mira Grant that I have read was The Newsflesh Trilogy and all the short stories that go along with it. I've don't think I've ever read any of the books she wrote as Seanan McGuire though.
I haven't read any Seanan McGuire books yet, though I do have the first few from the Wayward children series that everyone seems to love. The Newsflesh trilogy is the zombie books? Did you like them?
Rolling in the Deep was even better than Into the Drowning Deep (which was very good) in my opinion. It tells the story of the documentary crew that went missing and is pretty frightening. It's a novella too, so it gets right to the horror and the mermaids. 🧜 I didn't like Incidents very much, although I found some of the early scenes with Other Mommy creepy. I really enjoyed Malerman's book Daphne, and I think you might like that one too.
I will have to check out rolling in the Deep. To be fair, I've never read a full length Malerman. I was so mad about Goblin and other short stories that it just put me off. I really thought in Incidents in the scene where her Grandmother's dog was licking her when she was sleeping.....that she was going to open her eyes and see other Mommy. I was so creeped out....but turns out that was just my imagination 😂

hahaa YES! Why was everyone on that damn ship ex-lovers with someone else?

Awesome book review as always, appreciate the honesty 🧜♀ x

Interested to hear your thoughts on it! What is your favorite full length novel by him?
I so appreciate your honest thoughts on the books you read. I have my eye on Into the Drowning Deep and am taking your points to heart. Thank you! 💕

Were-opossums. Love it. I also think of Coraline every time I hear someone talk about IATH. I had fun with Edifice Complex. It’s unhinged. 🧜♀️ 🌊 🧜♂️
You know I'm into anything unhinged!

there is plenty of dysfunction in that family!

Thanks for watching and saying hi!

@@Kritz_Reads they are the zombie books, I loved them but I'm a massive zombie fan so I might be biased towards them lol.
