I love how you describe books because you give a really clear picture of the book. Seriously, ALL the books I've picked up because of your videos have been 5 star reads because you describe books so well and I can easily think "ooh, this book is FOR ME" or "nah, I don't think I'll like it" - thank you so much for all your wonderful videos! I hope you have a brilliant new year!
Dr. Cool Late Capitalism has really done a number on people. Mass consumerism and addictions to anything. Books, shows, sugar, coffee, clothing, electronics etc. Trying to fill the void with externalities, while always craving entertainment or escape. Literally barely properly having time to think.
I read almost all of my books from the library. If you something isn't absolutely essentially to living and you have debt or don't have the money do buy it then you shouldn't buy it. It's literally that simple.
My solution to this is to support my local library and THEN if I really love a book and I want to own a fresh beautiful copy to hold and stare at all day, then I buy that book. Because I relate: THERE ARE TOO MANY BOOKS AND THEY COST SO MUCH MONEY!!! And I don’t want to waste my money on books I won’t necessarily be obsessed with.
Obsessed with your earrings!!! I haven’t even finished the video yet but I already know I’m going to get so many good book recs from this!! Happy Holidays!!!
My favs of the year - 1. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo 2. The Book Thief 3. The Infernal Devices series 4. Here lies Daniel Tate 5.The woman in the window 6. Radio Silence
Just finished The Missing of Clairdelune and LOVED IT! It hurts my heart that I have to wait for the translation of the third book, but I have to thank you for mentioning the book months ago. It is one of my favorite series now!
Hello! I don't normally leave comments, but decided to this. Thank you very much for the great advice, it is increasingly hard to find books that sort of make me forget everything and read, but you actually gave me like 3-4 of my new favorites. Love your videos because you can clearly see that you care about the books you are talking about and that you really read them. Thank you for creating this, you got me through the first panic of the whole COVID-19 situation. Wishing you best of luck!
You should definitely read the Skulduggery Pleasant series. I’ve never seen it on booktube, but it’s a middle grade to young adult book about sorcerers and fantastical creatures. It’s extremely witty and sarcastic and the characters are funny. The series is really big, but it gets better and better as the plot develops and gets really intriguing. I think the series is really underrated and I love it.
I'm still on book one (have been for what feels like years which is my fault and not at all the book's fault) and I absolutely love it. The characters are interesting, the dialogue is witty and the setting is fantastic!
So glad you loved The missings of Clairedelune! I’ve read this book series in French and in some way seeing it on an American booktube channel (especially yours) makes me so happy💕
Okay, I was adding recommendation to my TBR list throughout the video, but now I KNOW they'll be good because you capped it off with The Broken Earth trilogy, which, in my humble opinion, was a masterpiece. Definitely going to subscribe now!
Fabulous video! I love how articulate and thorough you are when conveying your thoughts about the books you loved this year. My favorite books I’ve read this year are definitely the Winternight trilogy by Katherine Arden; those books broke my heart and made me fall in love with fantasy all over again!
i love these videos-one might love a book, give it a five star rating, and say it’s one of the best. but one also might love a book and give it a three point five star rating, and still say it’s one of the best. it’s interesting to see the difference :)
I looved this video! You are so good at summarising books, I’m always impressed! City Of Stairs and The Fifth Season are in my tbr list because of you, can’t wait to read them 😊
I never miss a Regan video, and I definitely would not dream of missing this one! You read lots of good books this year! Thank you for providing the world with your great content!
My Favorites of 2019: - Foundryside (Robert Jackson Bennet) - The Outsider (Stephen King) - Muse of Nightmares (Laini Taylor) - City of Stairs (Robert Jackson Bennet) - The Institute (Stephen King) - Thunderhead (Neal Shusterman) - Red Rising (Pierce Brown) - The Fifth Season (N.K Jemisin) - Three Body Problem (Cixin Liu) - Supermarket (Bobby Hall)
I read the fifth season this year as well! Definitely one of the best series of the last couple years. The worldbuilding and the attention to detail in the tiniest descriptions about how life and culture would work in this environment are insane. N.K. Jenisin truly is a genius when it comes to magic systems, cultural and geographical world-building and complicated but authentic relationships between characters. Thank you for talking about it. 5/5 would recommend to everyone.
City of Stairs!!! I remember reading the arc and loving it. I need to continue the series. So glad a big booktuber finally read and started talking about it.
Straight off the bat, the first two books you mentioned are also my faves lol. We have similar tastes and I look forward to filling up my to-read list with books you've read!
I typically not a YA or modern fantasy reader (nothing against either to be clear) but your description of the The Missing of Clair de lune sounded so intriguing. I can’t wait to give it a try.
I could not even wrap up my head with how eloquent and spontaneous you casually talk to these fantasy books you have dived in this year. I hate to admit that fantasy books sometimes become tedious to me that's why I don't usually read a lot fantasy books and I know it's ashamed! Lol. I only read few fantasy books over the years. But this year, I'm planning to try harder and persevere. Just that, sometimes it's hard for me to imagine and really get into the world these authors come up with because english aint my first language and it can be difficult at times to keep everything intact while trying hard to understand and immerse myself into the world. You know what I mean?! But this year, i want to go overboard of my comfort zone and try harder. 💛
Yes! So much love for Locke Lamora and the Fifth season! I picked up the fifth season at half price books not knowing anything about the series and read it that way and wow man! Really excited to get my hands on the rest of the series.
Interesting books! Especially the 7 1/2 deaths, the toll (series), ninth house and the fifth season. All going straight to my TBR. So in return, I give you one recommendation: The Devotion of Suspect X by Keigo Higashino is a murder mystery novel which has left me shocked and heartbroken. It is a brilliant story, and doesn't exactly follow the detective's perspective. Something tells me you'll enjoy it. Also, tell us more about the Gentlemen bastards series when you're done because I'm reading them right now 😅
I think the reason that The Mirror Visitor is so refreshing for YA,is that it actually wasn't written to be YA haha but I love this series and i'm so happy it got translated !
I've heard several different descriptions of Ninth House from various Booktubers, but this is the first time it has actually sounded like an interesting book.
I am 7 mins in and I have to stop to tell you how Gorgeous you look in that green blouse. So there, done! Now, returning to finish this oh- so- awesome vlog. You are making me get out of my comfort zone and actually read some of these books. Thnx for being so beautiful- in and out. Love ya...
Ninth House is definitely on my list! Love seeing what made everyone's top list for 2019. Didn't have any books in common, but have a ton of recommendations now ;)
i have had the broken earth trilogy on my shelf in its entirety for over two years now! basically since the third one came out, and i still haven’t picked it up. might as well give it a go in 2020! and i’m so happy to see so many people reading and loving the gentleman bastard sequence! i have convinced two of my closest friends to read it this year and it’s been wonderful. some of my favourites of the year have been beartown by fredrik backman, nevermoor by jessica townsend, the priory of the orange tree by samantha shannon and the miseducation of cameron post!
Another great video! 👏🏼❤️ Read and love most of the books on your list too! And I’ve just started The Red Rising series this year and LOVING every book I’ve read so far! It’s so so good that I highly recommend IG you haven’t read it yet
Ninth House was really good, I also enjoyed it. I love the Seven Realms series, one of my favorites. And I'm now reading the Lies of Locke Lamora right now. Great video

I commented in a previous video how I bought The Fifth Season a long time ago 'cause it sounded intrigue but joined my growing stack of TBR books. And when Regan started talking about it I thought I'd finally pick it up and love it as much as her. But 60 pages in and I'm just not hooked. BUT seeing her rave about it again, and I guess I'll continue with it. (Plus it's quite literally the only book I have on hand for me to read.)
@@PeruseProject I always do. I've been a big fan of ur recs and especially ur cozy weekend vlogs for more than a year now that somehow my weekend feels incomplete without them💕

I am on the last 4th book of A mirror visitor ( in French). The 3rd book is excellent too and end on a cliffhanger. I love her writing and the way Dabos is able to describe her world and characters is incredible. I loved book 2 because of the world described and the interaction between the characters. The seven husbands of E is on my list.

Hello! My read sugestion: "Sorcery of Thorns". The other books I have read you read too. Btw... I saw all of your videos and I can't finshed this year without say to you... you are the best book opinier maker. The best. Thank you for all what you do to produce content. Marry Christmas!
The purpose of this video was for me to run to a book store immediately having finished it, and spending way too much money! Lol! (I have to admit I did buy a bunch of Harry Potter stuff which was not mentioned here, so technically it’s not your fault) 😂😛
What is the first book in The Winter of the Witch books? I really want to read it now. It sound fantastic and I would love to read about folkelore I grew up hearing in my home country of Georgia
