  • @0pwaffles

    2 recommendations:
1.) Aaragorn could totally have the tough feat for any one of those. it increases the health by 2, and can replace any of the constitution modifiers for a better effect. Aaragorn's pretty hearty and needs that health when he's getting tossed off cliffs
2.) Aaragorn could also easily fit the role of a half elf considering he's one of the Dúnedain. The guy is 87 after all and looks like he's fresh out of college. It would also bump up his charisma along with his other uncanny abilities like his ability to see in the dark and his understanding of the elves too.
    all in all, amazing build

    • @DoctorPringles
      @DoctorPringles 5 лет назад +13

Regarding 1) - Bumping Constitution also gives an extra use of Warding Maneuver, which I think is the main reason he went that route. Tough would give more HP, but then you'd be using the maneuver less. That maneuver is really, really good at keeping you or your friends alive, and I'd argue is more important than the extra HP from tough.

I feel like ranger/paladin is more true to Tolkien's vision of the character than Ranger/Fighter. "The hands of the king are the hands of a healer, and so the rightful king be known." (Psst - it's the lay on hands ability). You still get the extra fighting style and a paladin's bonus to saves help keep you and your party safe and I feel like Aragorn certainly has the aura of a holy warrior in the books. Honestly, while Strider defiantly started as the iconic ranger in Fellowship, by the time you get to Return of the King I'd say Aragorn is just as much an iconic paladin. In fact, he has an in-story moment where he chooses to switch classes, when he accepts his heritage and takes up Anduril.
Of course multiclassing Ranger/Paladin would be pretty difficult mechanically, since they both have 2 required multiclssing stats and they don't overlap. You would need DEX, CHA, WIS, & STR at 13 or higher before you can move into paladin, which means with a standard array you can't take feats at lev 4 and it will be hard to get your stats up, since you have to generalize so much, but that was already a flaw with your ranger/fighter build anyway.

      Rangers already have healing spells.
I'd argue sauron to be a paladin multiclass sorceror.

Gerald of Rivia is an astonishingly easy build. A Str Based Warlock with the Blade Boon does the trick pretty easy once you have Improved Pact Weapon (for your silvered Sword) and Thirsting Blade. You can also grab Eldritch Sight or Devil’s Sight for Witcher Senses. If you use Point buy, human standard, you can readily set up with a 16 Str and a 14 in most of your other stats save one dump (probably Int or Wis compensated for with proficiency).

This show is honestly addictive. The layout of developing goals for the build and building from there has gotten me inspired to do the same for some of my favorite characters(albeit with rolling rather than standard point allotments), and the results have turned up some builds that are pretty wacky but undeniably resemble the character I based them off of. I'm definitely checking out the backlog of eps I've missed and looking forward to more!

Honestly it’s great to see someone bringing famous characters to dnd. For a newer player like me and a few friends it not only helps with just getting into the game having sort of a guide for most of the classes let’s new players dip their toes into it with “guidelines” and then later Branch out into other options for the class. Your venom video brought me into playing warlocks.

Minor quibble: I'd argue that Anduril is a +2 or +3 longsword in 5e terms rather than a greatsword. The movie version is ~52" long with a ~40" blade, and greatswords are usually 60" long or more.

  • @galeforce3192

Note: for those who were looking up the Cavalier archetype due to it not being in the core PHB, it's in Xanathar's Guide to Everything. I actually spent time looking it up online and assumed it was UA (Unearthed Arcana) material until I found it listed in a Fighter optimization guide and it was specified there as being from that book. XD
Seriously, though, this is a really good build. Even for a non-min-max build, this is a character that's bound to work around the battlefield pretty well. Most players don't min-max, and other players tend to appreciate a playstyle that can take down several enemies or otherwise help several players at once.

2 levels in monk gets you everything you need to really feel like a Edward and what he displays during the series, then go full transmutation wizard after that Edward Elric would be someone who probably focuses more on the manipulation of stone and other materials so take spells that focus on that.

I would like to add a suggestion for those that don't want to deal with Cavalier, that Battle Master might be a good alternative, there are more than enough Maneuvers that you can control the flow of battle like Distracting Strike, which lets add your superiority die to the damage roll and grants the next person besides you advantage against the foe you hit, also since this build has Inspiring Leader, another good Maneuver would be Rally which gives a friendly creature that can see or hear you temp HP based on your Superiority Die roll plus your cha mod.

Love watching you're videos on making D&D characters, i know a lot of people wanna make the super flexible fighter/casters or the power hungry super guys, but i would like to see how you would be able to tackle making Sly Cooper from his respected games. a Sneaky character focusing on stealth, stealing, moving around in the shadows and never being seen, and if combat is an option, takes care of it quickly or in one go. Could also be a build you might sacrifice Con on, for story reason, in his games he can't really take a hit at all, once you're caught you have to run or you're back to the start of the map again trying over.

I’ve created multiple Aragorn builds myself, and I’ve never seen one so close to perfect. The background that I personally find suits Aragorn the best is Outlander, and I don’t believe Cure Wounds should be on this build. Aragorn has been alive for 87 years and spent most of that as a Ranger/Wanderer. As for Cure Wounds, I don’t believe the magical touch healing suits Aragorn, he wasn’t much of a healer, and only really tended to small wounds. When Frodo gets stabbed by a Nazgul, he goes to the Elves for their magical healing abilities.
Aside from those two points, this build truly is perfect.

Finally, I had to give one nitpick on this current video. You went with variant Human for Aragorn. Although his elven ancestry is less than one-half, I think the fact that he was 87 years old when LotR starts means he should probably qualify for half-elf status. Just my two cents.

Especially Bard would be super fun, as he is a "divine-like" support that lore-wise only cares for the "cosmic balance", not individuals (or even whole groups of ppl) and he DOESNT TALK AT ALL, because noone could comprehend what he says. So good luck communicating with your group.

I've found your videos recently and have been going through watching all of them! I especially love the little jokes you throw into each video. I have a suggestion that might make a lot of sense for certain characters (like Captain America) who have specific equipment they are known for. And you can work out around when characters might get access to that rarity of item. Maybe say 3rd level for an Uncommon, 5th for Rare, 11th for a Very Rare, and 17th for a Legendary Item. Would be an extra help for players to know that certain items that would fit the characters already exist in some books, same way that you go through the spells.

They are far more focused on combat than the gadgetry that the MIB use so I think it could be an interesting design. It could also be tailored to match different agents that we see, such as the main character, Eggsy, having an urchin-type background that gives him his sleight of hand and Acrobatics which he employs in practically every exchange in the films. Compare this another lead, Merlin, who is the Guy In The Chair, who would act likely as a sage or other researcher.

Strength Monk lets you mix grappling in with unarmed strikes, possibly letting you do the full 'grab an enemy and then repeatedly unarmed strike their head into the ground' manuever. You also get high mobility and no dependency on weapons, an early Tavern Brawler can expand your weapon list even further. Possibly grab two levels in Fighter for action surge and more weapon proficiencies. Dump mental stats, the Miami Mutilator is not known for his cool head or his problem solving skills.

Fun Fact: Aragorn isn't just some human ranger who can talk elvish and know their culture, he is specifically of the Dunedain race, which are a race of men in Tolkien's legendarium of being sort of like the descendants of Numenor, who were once known as the Kings of Men, having incredibly long lifespans of up to 500 years, and they can all trace their ancestry directly back to Elros, the first man, and is brother to Elrond the Half-Elf, to which also makes Elrond to be Aragorn's great grand uncle, and Arwen his sort of cousin

Just a minor pick. Aragorn was a Dúnadan which is a half elf. In the events of the Lord of the Rings trilogy he was over 90 years old.

I dont know if that's how it works but, could you consider making Metal Sonic on the next video? Any of his forms actually(Mecha, Neo, etc). Im quite curious to see how that would work!

It's a little complicated but Aragorn is a Numenorean which is much closer to a half-elf than anything else. Also, Anybody else think he would make a really interesting Hexblade Warlock?

Episode 70 of the Fire Emblem stats: Aragorn, king of Gondor.
Aragorn seems like the prototypical Fire Emblem lord with skills in swords, bows, riding, and authority. He's bad at both types of magic since he does not possess magic.
He has stats that are decent across the board.

Honestly, I would replace Cavalier with Champion, and just take the Mounted Combatant feat. Out of all the major battles in LOTR, he rides a horse once, at Helm's Deep, and whilst he is skilled at defending his friends, that never seems to be his main tactic. In all honesty, you could just take all levels in ranger. Still a good build tho

This series is amazing, it's given me so many ideas for making my own fantasy builds.
I've already done a Mipha build and a Belmont Build, but now I'm trying my hand at my most challenging build yet: Yang Xiao Long from RWBY.
I'm just having trouble working out how to recreate her Sembiance, and her Shotgun Gauntlets (cause I don't think a DM is gonna let me just have them as a weapon xD)

I was disappointed he wasn't Ranger first and Paladin second. That's how I always viewed Aragorn in the books and movies, and I believe he defined the Ranger class as Strider and then the Paladin class as Aragorn.

I wonder if the new "Fey Wanderer" Ranger is a good fit for an Aragorn build, now...
I mean..."Hunter" is definitely an appropriate playstyle for a horde-breaker like Aragorn.
"Fey Wanderer" DOES sort of mesh well with Aragorn's affiliation to the elves, however...the bonus Wisdom to his Charisma-checks lends itself will to his "kingly" nature...the other more mystical abilities are a bit of a stretch, though.

I'm not sure if this is something that's possible or you may interested in, but could you start a second series where you homebrew monster/NPC stat blocks for DMs to use based on fictional characters? I feel like you could be great at it and it could give you some more freedom and us DMs some more juicy ideas.

Hey Tulok; just discovered your channel and I’ve been loving it! Could you do a John Constantine character build? I’d be curious what a paranormal investigator/con-artist looks like in D&D

  • @Guille544
    @Guille544 5 лет назад

Hey Tulok, I have two suggestions. First I think you soud do a recap of the character in the end of the episode, something simple like showing all the character levels and what they are in one table. It will be really usefull if someone would want to make the character.
Second, in order to diversify your content, I suggest you make videos on making movie momsters sich as alien, Godzilla, Chucky, etc as enemies in DnD. I think its a fun idea and it would guive some variety on the channel ( maybe you can call it how to Fight X in D&D)
( English is not my first language so I apologize in advance if something made you eyes bleed)

Is there any way we can one day see a build for Sylvanas Windrunner The Banshee Queen? I've thought over the year I played D&D on how to make her without homebrew. Making her a High Elf or Wood Elf sounds like the best route imo with maybe Drow for the Chm. High Elves / Wood Elves get Longbow speciality right from the start and withit you can decide to go directly into magic with Warlock or Ranger for theme.
How one then goes on to have spooky dark bolts, raising zombies, and other necro themed stuff though is beyond me. Being a Necromancer in D&D feels like a dedication and not one that can be mixed with a bow well enough to offset simply being a magic user.
Arcane Archer also comes to mind but I felt the archetype overall is just peters out instead of getting stronger as it levels as opposed to something things.
Ideally I'd like some rogue levels to simulate Sylvanas's sneaking but a decent background like criminal can do that.
    Thoughts to users?
