Ya he kinda undersold that moment, i mean with how brief this video is hes underselling aloy of moments but especially that one with gimli suggesting they just use the ghosts to win, aragorn being a man of his word in that situation is EXTREMELY lawful good
One small problem with comparing what the Hobbits, *_especially_* Sam and Frodo, did with basic foot soldiers delivering supplies, is that it downgrades the weight of carrying the One Ring! They're more like subterfuge agents tasked with carrying a live wasp nest into the enemy's chambers because he's deathly allergic to wasp venom. They definitely deserve all the clout they got.
One thing that the movies do beautifully but that almost everyone overlooks, is that the ring not only gets more powerful the closer they get to Mordor, but it also gets physically heavier and heavier; you can see this represented with how Frodo's neck gets seriously injured by the constant rubbing of the chain against his skin, and at some point Frodo is literally shown to be *dragged* to the ground by the sheer weight of the ring, unable to carry it anymore. The ring is not really a wasp nest, but rather a pound of radioactive material that's poorly contained; poisoning it's carrier by simply existing

Lord of the Rings is fundamentally a story about a Chaotic Good guy becoming a Lawful Good guy, if you limit the discussion only to Aragorn in terms of anachronistic D&D alignments.
Aragorn is my second favorite LOTR character, he is the embodiment of the epitome of what it means to be a good and strong person, man or woman, it does not matter. He is only beat for me by Gimli because I love dwarves, Tolkien dwarves in particular and Gimli was the one that kindled that for me.

These were indeed some of the most influential movies of their time, to the point that many others, even Jackson himself tried and failed to recapture the magic that made them unique. Also I want to mention a well enough factoid about the movie... well I would love to mention a lot but I'll hold myself and just mention one. During the filming of one of the fights, an extra dressed as an orc threw a real axe at Viggo Mortensen and he deflects it with a prop sword. It's not an extra, it's the chief Urûk (Lurz) in the first movie, and he throws a knife and Viggo deflects it. It's also still a prop knife, he just wasn't supposed to throw it directly and Viggo.
If you are talking about The Hobbit movies, Peter Jackson had no time for preproduction in that one. He was literally just stepping in and making sure that the movies were made when the original director couldn't. On The Lord of the Rings he had plenty of time to plan and preproduction before shooting. On these books that makes all the difference.

About 3 chapters into the first book, you can clearly tell that Aragorn is a man of unflinching goodness and honor. He’s basically a good-aligned Omar…and “A man must have a code”.
Book and movie Aragorn converge in RotK when Aragorn comes to Gondor and sees the Argonath again where the weight of his legacy and duty mirrors that of the One Ring on Frodo. Book Aragorn is more confident in himself though. He has been training and focused on this moment for eight decades. The One Ring could not hide itself forever. Aragorn knew this was his doom or perhaps the doom of his son, or grandson. The confrontation with Sauron was inevitable and the heir of Elendil had to be ready. After finding Gollum, Aragorn knows for sure he is the one. From then on it will either be death or the realization of all his dreams and the salvation of the Free Peoples of Arda. He's all in at that point come what may. It's all Bushido after that.
Aragon is like a 20th Ranger, Lawful Good or possibly Chaotic Good alignment! At least that's what I have always thought. And he has like 20 Charisma to reject the lure of the Ring, master the Palanter, and then face off in mental battle with Sauron and not even flinch! All in all he's a remarkable individual! He's a human with all the skill of a Sylvian Elf!

But if I am to understand that you are enquiring whether I am of Jewish origin, I can only reply that I regret that I appear to have no ancestors of that gifted people. My great-great-grandfather came to England in the eighteenth century from Germany: the main part of my descent is therefore purely English, and I am an English subject-which should be sufficient. I have been accustomed, nonetheless, to regard my German name with pride, and continued to do so throughout the period of the late regrettable war, in which I served in the English army. I cannot, however, forbear to comment that if impertinent and irrelevant inquiries of this sort are to become the rule in matters of literature, then the time is not far distant when a German name will no longer be a source of pride."

I don't know how socially acceptable it is to give a shout out to another youtube channel in a different youtube channel's comment section but seeing how you did an unsponsored shout-out yourself I'm just going to go with it. Pilgrim's Pass has an amazing series of videos analyzing Lord of the Rings characters including Aragorn and much of your language speaking about him in the ending of this video reminded me of a lot of the points he made. I highly recommend watching some of his stuff if you haven't done so.
In the novel, there was nothing reluctant about Aragorn becoming king, that had been his objective for decades before the novel begins. However, it is absolutely true that he wanted to be king to restore peace, justice, and lawful rule to his people, in other words, to serve them, not because he wanted power for its own sake. Also, Elrond had made Aragorn becoming king a condition of his blessing for Aragorn to marry Arwen, he didn't want her to be the wife of a fugitive living in the wilderness.
One of the few people who hasn't watched the Lord of the Ring movies or read the books. As a kid I was more into Harry Potter but I can appreciate the ideas and subjects the Lord of the Ring touches upon.
Aragon basically is the culmination of Jesus and King Arthur HOWEVER I believe there are hints of other inspirations added onto the character like, for example, Aragon is very wise and a great deal of courage as well. I would even go so far to say, as he has a small amount of inspiration from king Leonidas. MAYBE also a pinch of inspiration from some of history’s, most honorable kings and leaders. Idk. Aragon definitely was a reflection of the best humanity had to offer If not, it’s complete incarnation of the ideals humanity holds in the highest regard.
I would pay money to see you do Sheridan from Babylon 5. as much as I like Aragorn, as awesome as Aragorn is, Sheridan is the person I think of when I think of a good person. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if you chose not to do an alignment vid on him as Babylon 5 is a TV show and not something that can be watched in a day.
I mean, yeah. Of course Aragorn is lawful good. He’s pretty much what the entire concept (D&D and derivatives, such as FF) of the paladin was based off of, honestly. Though the term paladin actually came from the stories of Charlemagne, whose knights were called paladins.
Oh, and yes. Politicians are lawful evil. Statesmen are lawful good. What’s the difference between a politician and a statesman? A statesman will sacrifice his/her own career for the good of the country. A politician never will. And that’s really the difference between lawful good and lawful evil (lawful neutral are your everyday police officers who are “just doing their job”). Lawful good sees oneself as a true servant of one’s country/kingdom/etc. Lawful evil is self-serving only.
Personally, I'd rank him as Neutral Good, since he does what he believes is right regardless of what people think. When you consider that for a good chunk of his life, he's been a Ranger, he hasn't been embedded into any society. Surviving the wild and hunting Orcs for most of his life, its hard to see how Law even fits in there. Also I wouldn't say that him sparing the creep is Chaotic Good. Chaotic Good try to destroy evil regardless of the costs or consequences. For it to be a Chaotic Good act is if Aragorn killed the creep himself. I heard it from Worf in Star Trek DS9 after he beat Gowron and just as he is about to give the mantle to Martok: Martok - Worf! I do NOT seek leadership. Worf - Kahless said that great men do not seek power, they have power thrust upon them (puts the mantle on Martok). Hail Martok! Leader of the Empire! Leader of destiny.
I'd like to ask a question here. At 12:18 you say "Aragorn was never meant to represent any specific people or person." You then call out WoTC for their depiction. May I know what exactly you meant by that here? What are you trying to say?
I'd say neutral-neutral at the start, then curving towards lawful good via neutral good towards the end. I'm on the fence whether he actually reaches full lawfulness.

Lawful Good doesn't make sense, as he abandoned his duty as king for so long. Lawful Good is all about doing your duty and adhering to the order of things, I'd think.
It's because if he took it when he learned of his heritage; he would have been labeled as an impostor or a usurper by The Stuarts and it would lead to a second civil war between him and The Stuarts
13:30 You could make an alignment chart for Tolken because I believe his response to the Nazi party that wanted to publish his book in German Deserves at least 2 Chaotic neutral pings
For those who don't know Nazis were interested in publishing his book because they saw they could use it as propaganda BUT they asked Tolken to confirm his Aryan identity to which he replied:
"Thank you for your letter. I regret that I am not clear as to what you intend by arisch. I am not of Aryan extraction: that is Indo-Iranian; as far as I am aware none of my ancestors spoke Hindustani, Persian, Gypsy, or any related dialects.
If you want another “good politician” might be “how a realist hero rebuilt a kingdom”
Ah heck yah! Always wanted to see one of these for Aragorn.
What Alignment is
Dinobot from Beast Wars
Kain and Raziel from The Legacy of Kain series (maybe collab with Strictly Fantasy?)
Silver from Treasure Planet
The Party in The Black Cauldron
Definitely should have given a lawful good for him talking to boromir when he was dying and taking his bracers that he had on through the rest of the movies
"The major problem-one of the major problems, for there are several-one of the many major problems with governing people is that of whom you get to do it; or rather of who manages to get people to let them do it to them.
To summarize: it is a well-known fact that those people who must want to rule people are, ipso facto, those least suited to do it.
To summarize the summary: anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job." ~ Douglas Adams
12:44 in effect, hes the same kind of character as TinTin and Superman.
Pretty sure mary and pippin have some of the highest kill counts in the movies.
Not too mention hightest tier kills
Gollum kills/sauron/mt doom
Sam kills shelob
Pippin kills the witch king/kill stealed by erwern
I don't know how socially acceptable it is to give a shout out to another youtube channel in a different youtube channel's comment section but seeing how you did an unsponsored shout-out yourself I'm just going to go with it. Pilgrim's Pass has an amazing series of videos analyzing Lord of the Rings characters including Aragorn and much of your language speaking about him in the ending of this video reminded me of a lot of the points he made. I highly recommend watching some of his stuff if you haven't done so.
12:55 not equal, HE BOWS TO THEM!
Cloudbreaker has been founded ,
Still , if you want (And can of course CAN) Please , Back the project .
not sure I understood the ding at wizards. Wizards is worthy of criticism, just not sure how black aragorn is.
Cloudbreaker is very promising ,
You can customize a lot while keeping it simple
He is Chaotic Platypus.
Requesting Glados, Wheatley, and Cave Johnson from Portal. Also, Shiroe, Akatsuki and Naotsugu from Log Horizon.
"Now count the days of the King."
His alignment is giga chad.
This man is the polar opposite of Dio.
These are rather dim hours, possibly even dark.
Can't wait for Gimli my beloved
if you are not being treated like aragon would treat you, you have kissed another frogg
What D&D Alignment is Zero and Suzaku from Code Geas.
It's 2300 (11pm for you civies) and I should be sleeping....but not yet.
One of the few people who hasn't watched the Lord of the Ring movies or read the books. As a kid I was more into Harry Potter but I can appreciate the ideas and subjects the Lord of the Ring touches upon.
"this kid fresh out of his teens"
Aragorn is 87
I think I was talking about his backstory as a ranger. if I messed that up...oops
@TheLoadingCrew it's all good, Aragorn is quite young looking for his age lol.
3:45 whats that song? Its so familiar...
Is it from a Zelda titel or one of the 2D Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games?
I see him as Chaotic Good.
Cold stoic and hollow ? Thats me tapping out.
he "appears". but go off :)
Boy I can't wait for Boromir's video that's 5 minutes long!
I heard it from Worf in Star Trek DS9 after he beat Gowron and just as he is about to give the mantle to Martok:
Martok - Worf!
I always figured he was neutral good.
I'd say neutral-neutral at the start, then curving towards lawful good via neutral good towards the end. I'm on the fence whether he actually reaches full lawfulness.
Hey can we get you to give the "Archer"crew the treatment?
Aragorn aka Captain Gondor!
