The fact is even more fun! Christopher Lee knew Tolkien personally and the legendary author said to him that if his books would ever be turned into a movie then Lee has his blessings to play Gandalf.
One of the most sad aspects about Gandalf and the Istari as a whole is the fact that all the others wanted to be sent into middle earth; Alator, Palandro, Radagast and Saruman actually *volunteered* to the position but Gandalf didn't, Gandalf was actually scared of Sauron and pleaded with Lady Nienna to let him stay, and yet in the end he was the last one *actually* doing what he was sent to do; Alator and Palandro just decided to leave one day, Radagast became obsessed with the animals and lost interest in the intelligent races, and Saruman goes and gets corrupted.
The two Blue Wizards were also likely corrupted at some point. They were supposed to be fighting Sauron in the East like they did to Morgoth in the War of Wrath however they seemed much less effective at it this time around. Suspiciously so. There are also notes which exist indicating that Tolkien was considering using the blue wizards as the antagonists of the Lord of the Rings sequel he was planning as inheriting the legacy of Sauron. So in the end, Gandalf was the only successful member of the Ishtari.

You are clearly on a big LotR run for videos, but when you decide to go to something else for a bit, I'd LOVE to see a video on Ainz Ooal Gown from Overlord. The change from a normal guy to a cold and ruthless ruler who has the entirety of the world he's in quaking in fear of a mere mention of him would be very interesting. I would say that at first, Ainz isn't a bad person. He was just forced to take on the role of the evil overlord to keep his generals in line. He didn't want to actually take over the world, just find others from the game he played and get their attention. Then it got a bit out of control due to his generals making assumptions for him, and eventually, he fully embraces his role. He's killed pretty innocent people in his conquest, which I couldn't see him doing at the very beginning of the series.
Lawful Evil, easy. He does plenty of heinous shit to land him squarely in evil while his loyalty to his clan and his principles(he does try to be fair when it is possible) make him lawful

Gandalf stops in a highly dangerous area to read a book. Chaotic Neutral. This reading puts the party on edge and causes one of the more skiddish members to _accidentally_ alert the enemy to their position, which he blames said member for, harshly rebuking him! Thus shifting the blame/responsibility from himself. Neutral Evil. Yes. Him facing the Balrog alone makes up for this, but we gotta call out the ugly bits however few and far between they may be. Just take the book with you man and read it later!
I would love to see a Kirito alignment video, but the abridged version from Something Witty Entertainment. And if you really wanna go all in, contrast it with OG Kirito from the actual show.
It’s also worth noting that magic in lord of the rings involves singing the notes that sung the world into creation. So Gandalf isn’t even a wizard; he’s a bard
Not really. The main singing was done by the Valar and Ainur during the creation of Middle Earth. As Men, Dwarfs, Elves and probably most of the other races of Middle Earth, can use magic, in many different ways. The only other singing magic we see in the books is by Tom Bombadil, who is a divine being, similar to the Maiar and Valar.
And Monty Python & the Holy Grail's Black Knight. It's okay if you don't want to sit through the Hobbit. I can't even make it through any of the main movies.
What Alignment is Dinobot from Beast Wars Kain and Raziel from The Legacy of Kain series (maybe collab with Strictly Fantasy?) Silver from Treasure Planet The Party in The Black Cauldron
The way you formulated it makes it sound like Gandalf was allowed to go to the Undying Lands as a reward, when he actually just returned. You should also have included his speech to Frodo about showing mercy and one of his rare L's where he tells Pippin to kill himself to no longer be a burden.
I have an interesting question for you. There is a show called Kamen Rider Kiva. It's a tokusatu involving what are essentially stained glass vampires, and the hero that kills them, and takes place in two times 22 years apart. One of the characters is Otoya Kurenai. He's a roguish type, who's a womanizer, gambler, adept pickpocket, and a virtuoso with a violin. So basically he's a bard. I was wondering, if you could manage to see the show, would you be able to stat him?
DO WHAT ALIGNMENT IS [insert random politician], NEXT 😹😹😹😹😹. It would be genuinely interesting to see who is lawful evil, who is neutral evil and who is chaotic evil.
I’d be really interested in your take on the alignment of the Crew of Serenity from Firefly. It’s only 13 episodes and a movie! And some comics, but you could easily focus on only the show and movie.
Now I wonder what would have happened to Gollum/Sméagol if he had survived after the ring was destroyed. It would be neat to see him slowly transform back into his old pre-ring uncorrupted Hobbit self.
It's a shame we don't share the same enjoyment of the Hobbit movies, could've been fun. Say... "Gandalf goes to recruit Bilbo for the journey to the Lonely Mountain. He seemingly doesn't seem to know anything about Bilbo aside from the fact he's a hobbit, sooo *Chaotic Neutral.*" -ding- "He then casually sends all 13 dwarves to Bilbo's house to throw a party without Bilbo's permission, enjoying the festivities at Bilbo's expense. Once more, *Chaotic Neutral.*" -ding- "After some encouragement, Gandalf is able to convince Bilbo to come along. Now on their journey, he gives some exposition about wizards like him (hilariously forgetting the names of the two blue mages, because Tolkien never wrote them down) and disappears, before reappearing just in time to save the dwarves from a pack of hungry trolls. He then casts Identify on some loot and Bilbo gets a shiny new elven dagger which he later calls Sting. *Neutral Good.*" -ding- Phew, this is fun, but harder than I thought. I'll just leave it to you x)
I'm still not sure this day why so many people hate The Hobbit films. Yeah they definitely strayed from The Source material why bloating a small children's book in the three full-length films but in doing so they gave us a fully fleshed-out experience of the journey there and Back Again. And unlike a certain TV series that we shall not name they at least honored The Source material and provided a similar known as far as the action and acting. I will admit they overused CGI way too much and the film would have been ten times better had they at least stuck them will practical effects. I'm definitely not saying they're anywhere near as good as the original trilogy even with the extended Editions but they are definitely not bad movies. They have their problems but overall there's still a good addition and some of the changes they made although many people don't like them honestly I think they make sense from a filmgoer perspective. The addition of Legolas in The Hobbit story although not canon from the average filmgoers perspective who may not have read the books his Edition made a lot of sense as it provided a hint of nostalgia by introducing a familiar character an earlier point in their life that fans may have personally already been attached to from the original trilogy however despite his appearance being on Canada didn't take anything away from the story experience rather added some additional dear to the character by actually showing on screen his relationship with his father and his views on the conflict with the dark Forces prior to the original trilogy. Once again nowhere near as good as the original trilogy but I still thoroughly enjoy them and think they're good films despite the changes they made from the old book

Hey this is old and what not but as someone who deals a lot with teachers and is in those sorts of circles. These days there is no shortage of teachers that are lazy resentful and completely dismissive of the wellbeing and futures of children. Consider that while teachers are not responsible for many things that hurt children inbtheir growth, they have the ability to vonsider and work towards ehat is truly important and they just dont. They couldnt give less of a crap and will do the bare minimum so they get goid test score averages. Its horrifying
To be fair, the way Dol Guldur was portrayed in the Hobbit movie is only about half cannon. Gandalf was imprisoned there several years before he even met Thorin and the only people to drive Sauron out of the fortress were the 5 wizards, the white, the grey, the brown, and the 2 blue. Galadriel and Elrond didn't participate.
The Blue were already in the Far East. The White Council drove off Sauron out of Dul Guldur during the events depicted in The Hobbit. That's why Gandalf left the Bilbo and the Dwarves. The White Council was composed of Saruman (its leader), Gandalf, Radagast, Galadriel, Elrond, Glorfindel and Cirdan the Shipwright. I don't know if all of them were present during the attack, but it was decided by them.
@TheLoadigCrew "where Pippin causes a loud noise 'on' accident". That should 'by' accident, the opposite of which is 'on' purpose. I'm guessing that you are likely from the US. Scratch that, definitely a US American from the latter section of the video.
I'm sorry but how is Gandalf accosting Sam and making him accompany Frodo lawful good? At best it's chaotic good but more accurately chaotic neutral. After all, he hits a dude, yells in his face and sends him on a dangerous journey presumably without giving him the option of saying no. That is not lawful in any way, shape or form.
keep talking about the ROTR books when you make video about the movie version of the characters, which (in my opinion) is very weird and extremely unnecessary. You never did something like this in your Shrek, MCU or konusuba videos for example, what's up with that?

As a waifu lover, I'm requesting Major Motoko Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell, Specially the one from the Stand Alone Complex continuity, where her personality is the most fun, You could also do ther from the he 98 movie, could also add Alita from the Battle Angel live action movie if you what to build a theme month.
Tolkien himself would likely consider lawful good the best alignment, so it makes sense that most of his main good guys fall in there as well.
Love that ya owned up to "I just don't wanna watch it" good reminder that these videos are for fun and ya even the gm deserves to have fun
Also somthing Somthing weekly lina
@@anl8830 Nah. Chaotic evil all the way
@@alan62036 Lawful Evil is not less evil than Chaotic Evil. He does rule over a country and does care about the well-being of its citizens because they are his ''subjects'' and it reflects on his clan's prestige. Textbook LE imo
@@anl8830 Dude is literally having children under his rule endlessly tortured
@@alan62036 Yes, evil. Extremely so. I reiterate: LE is not less evil than CE. He is seeing his subjects as resources to be exploited, he is not doing it out of sadism, that would be Demiurge or the Princess
Gandalf does tell everyone about the Balrog in the great hall after all the goblins scurry away, Boromir asks "what is this new devilry"
"a Balrog, a demon of the ancient world, this foe is beyond any of you"
"DO AS I SAY! swords are no more use here."
Hey man I just leave a comment here to congratulate you on your Kickstarter and I hope everything goes well 🎉
It’s also worth noting that magic in lord of the rings involves singing the notes that sung the world into creation.
I just wanted to say I'm glad the alignment videos are back
And Monty Python & the Holy Grail's Black Knight.
It's okay if you don't want to sit through the Hobbit. I can't even make it through any of the main movies.
What Alignment is
Dinobot from Beast Wars
Kain and Raziel from The Legacy of Kain series (maybe collab with Strictly Fantasy?)
Silver from Treasure Planet
The Party in The Black Cauldron
There was a vague reference in the extended cut to the Balrog.
2:59 - "Platypus" has a "Y", not an "I".
i hate being told whats what by people without a clue, too
You should make an alignment wheel as a product.. I don't know if people would be interested, but I'd buy it
Say, have you ever considered doing an alignment video on Natsuki Subaru from Re: Zero? I’m curious how the time looping would effect things.
not even including the orignal 'animated' hobbit?
a shame... i like that one
DO WHAT ALIGNMENT IS [insert random politician], NEXT 😹😹😹😹😹. It would be genuinely interesting to see who is lawful evil, who is neutral evil and who is chaotic evil.
I like this
Jesus Christ this video must have just gotten skipped by the algorithm it’s pretty good
Joshscorcher also helped you out with Advertisement for the Waifu Book
Well technically Gandalf was the first to show up as an old man to appear more approachable and the others followed
I’d be really interested in your take on the alignment of the Crew of Serenity from Firefly. It’s only 13 episodes and a movie! And some comics, but you could easily focus on only the show and movie.
You should make a D&D alignment video for Mortal Kombat's Raiden.
i wonder if there is going to be an alignment video for each hobbit or instead all hobbits are going to ve aligned in a long one.
Now I wonder what would have happened to Gollum/Sméagol if he had survived after the ring was destroyed. It would be neat to see him slowly transform back into his old pre-ring uncorrupted Hobbit self.
He himself seemed to believe that he would immediately die of old age, as the Ring was the only thing keeping him alive by that point.
I thought the 3rd eagle was for Sam, not Gollum
It's a shame we don't share the same enjoyment of the Hobbit movies, could've been fun. Say...
"Gandalf goes to recruit Bilbo for the journey to the Lonely Mountain. He seemingly doesn't seem to know anything about Bilbo aside from the fact he's a hobbit, sooo *Chaotic Neutral.*" -ding- "He then casually sends all 13 dwarves to Bilbo's house to throw a party without Bilbo's permission, enjoying the festivities at Bilbo's expense. Once more, *Chaotic Neutral.*" -ding-
"After some encouragement, Gandalf is able to convince Bilbo to come along.
You're speaking the truth of it, man.
Sauron is also a meiar
Requesting Wheatley, Glados and Cave Johnson from Portal. Also, Shiroe, Akatsuki and Naotsugu from Log Horizon.
If you think about it in D&D terms Gandalf isn’t a wizard but a Paladin
More Bard, vicious mockery, animal summons, inspiring courage.
The prophecy is fulfilled
Chaotic good 100%.
Ah yes, the sus wizard.
Yo, ultimate battle of ultimate destiny shoutout
Would love to see a video on Viren from Dragon Prince.
You have perfect pronunciation my friend no worries
4:23 along with many I just want a robo-android waifu but I like cyborgs and robot girls but you do you bro and best of luck.
TV show Leverage do it please! Can't wait!
Would have watched sooner. But was playing a game of D&D
Ooooh maybe you could do a what dnd aligment are Moxxie and Millie from helluva Boss
I thought we agreed not to discuss Rings of Power or anything like it.
God the more you do these the more I want to see you do a character from warhammer 40k………..but that completely understandable because it’s 40k. Still ciaphus cain, Vulcan, jaghatai khan, and Konrad are all great starting characters
I wish there was a visual medium of these for Stuart to analyze, but GW basically hates any non-video game adaptation of any of their work, and shut down any attempts by fans to make such adaptations. (rest in peace, Emperor's Text to Speech Device.)
@@AquaLantern should I be concerned about the Amazon series then?
The way the shittiness of current systems of government came to be got explained really well by the Philosopher Harry G. Frankfurt (RIP since a month and 3 days before I wrote this comment) in his book “On Bullshit” (2005)
You forgot to account for the time
Gandalf the Grey and Gandalf the White
And Monty Python and the Holy Grail's black knight
And Benito Mussolini and the Blue Meanie
And Cowboy Curtis and Jambi the Genie
Robocop, The Terminator, Captain Kirk, and Darth Vader
Lo-pan, Superman, every single Power Ranger
Bill S. Preston and Theodore Logan
Spock, The Rock, Doc Ock, and Hulk Hogan
All came out of nowhere lightning fast
And they kicked Chuck Norris in his cowboy ass
It was the bloodiest battle that the world ever saw
With civilians looking on in total awe
Giant Franchises Like Harry Potter, LOTR and Star Wars: "Our new movies don't actually suck, people just like the ones they grew up with. Eventually, the new generation will like ours better, and we'll be validated.
New Generation: " Trash is still Trash."
Ooookay, him knocking out that dude telling everyone to flee isn’t chaotic good. It’s still lawful good, or at least neutral. He’s literally damming his whole city to death, to not go against that because “it’s not lawful” would be “Lawful stupid” and or intentionally evil.
No video on Smaug then I'm guessing, if you dislike the Hobbit trilogy that much.
Hey this is old and what not but as someone who deals a lot with teachers and is in those sorts of circles. These days there is no shortage of teachers that are lazy resentful and completely dismissive of the wellbeing and futures of children. Its heartbreaking especially when there still are good teacher interspersed within them. Consider that while teachers are not responsible for many things that hurt children inbtheir growth, they have the ability to vonsider and work towards ehat is truly important and they just dont. They couldnt give less of a crap and will do the bare minimum so they get goid test score averages. Its horrifying
I am a bit confused about the Elon Soviet connection?
I'd hate to be the "Well, actually..." guy, but.....Gondor is the name of the COUNTRY while Minas Tirith is the city
Yeah, I have no life
@TheLoadigCrew "where Pippin causes a loud noise 'on' accident". That should 'by' accident, the opposite of which is 'on' purpose. I'm guessing that you are likely from the US. Scratch that, definitely a US American from the latter section of the video.
Waifus enough said
I love lord of the rings
Day 212 of waiting for the Frank Gallagher alignment video
The plural is Istari
A video on Violet Evergarden please!
You fall asleep during goat-chariot-with-automatic-crossbows chase on a frozen river?
Unsub.
;)
I'm sorry but how is Gandalf accosting Sam and making him accompany Frodo lawful good? At best it's chaotic good but more accurately chaotic neutral. After all, he hits a dude, yells in his face and sends him on a dangerous journey presumably without giving him the option of saying no. That is not lawful in any way, shape or form.
Please do deku
keep talking about the ROTR books when you make video about the movie version of the characters, which (in my opinion) is very weird and extremely unnecessary. You never did something like this in your Shrek, MCU or konusuba videos for example, what's up with that?
