Something I notice in these videos is that a lot of the time Chaotic isn't treated as it's own alignment. It seems like it's used to say an act is "bad, even if not evil", which isn't how the alignment works. Chaotic acts are ones which encourage the breakdown of rules and standards, or which oppose authority. Chaotic isn't just a seasoning for the other alignments, it is actually it's own thing.

The thing that solidified him more to the good side is the deleted scene simply put "people are not cargo". That set him well to the good side of the spectrum for me.
Jack recently got into Sea of Thieves and had a canon story that properly explains what happened after the 5th movie. Just in case you look at Davy Jones or Jack again, or even Calypso, I'd recommend looking into it. It's really cool and gives a good send off to Jack and some of the others, with just enough leeway to bring him back through the game. It's really fun too. I'd recommend it.
I can't say taking hostage is "lawful evil" if he is bluffing, then becomes "chaotic neutral" since she is not an actual hostage but instead he is lying. Now.... would Jack hurt her... maybe... if hurting her would convince them yes he would but if it would just end up killing her and make him achive nothing then no... so most likely lawful evil is correct but intention matters
I'd say chaotic neutral since he immediately ditches the hostage before trying to escape. If he had pushed Elizabeth into the water, or tried to negotiate his way out while still taking her hostage, I'd say neutral or lawful evil since he's actively putting her life at risk. But the way the scene plays out, it looks like it was just a bluff and momentary distraction to make the soldiers back off so he could have a chance to run away.
@@Birthday888 yea that was the point. The context seriously matters here as well. The "hostage" in question owed him a life debt... AND the necessity for taking said hostage was an immediate consequence of creating that life debt. He saved her life and as a result he was put in danger.
@@trequor that's not fair argument considering he was given "good" aligment for saving her allready, so evil just equalizes it. main question was and still is:Would he harm her if guards reacted in different way:If no, then its a lie. Lying is chaotic neutral.

Killing beckett is absolutely a chaotic neutral move. It's what is best for him and the people he cares about (ergo not evil), but cannot be classified as lawful or good since it opens up the opportunity for more pirates in the sea.
They debated it pretty heavily I would love to see their reasoning, but I would argue that at that point in the story Beckett had gone mad with power. He suspended the law and all due process and was executing hundreds of people a day.
Gladly I never watched PotC 5 and can barely remember PotC 4. 1 to 3 as some of my favorite movies of all time, At Worlds End being my favorite of the bunch.
I was told that the actor that played him came to work one day dressed as what would be done in the movies and proclaimed that this is what his character looks like. I don't if that is just a rumor but one of my siblings told me it.
Jack's allegiance is always to himself. He'll pick the path with least casualties but top priority is himself. Every deal, every promise, every accord is all to save his ass. The only time he ever risks his life is when it's to save someone he's interested in. He fights to run away.
In the 5th movie sure, but before that Jack consistently lives for other people. He risks his life for Elizabeth. He risks his life for Will Turner. He gives up immortality for someone else on 2 different occasions
So, odd thought: What alignment was he at the end of each movie, cumulative? Interested if he was Chaotic Neutral at the end of the 3rd, before Disney rot set in.
Chaotic Neutral, he is selfish at times and selfless at others. He tries to make others think he is chaotic evil but there is just enough conscience inside that makes him try to make things work while hiding his good qualities.
Frankly since nothing it brings up is touched on again, I choose to believe that Pirates 4 was (mostly) a story Jack is telling Will and Elizbeth's kid to explain why he missed his birthday ;)
I like the 5th movie. I'm saying it now. I like Henry trying to save his father despit only having met him like twice to three times from the curse. I like seeing more of Jack's backstory and seeing that he's more-or-less always been the troll of the seas. I like the happy ending for the turner family with Will being freed from his curse and living with his family in peace. I like Salazar as a villan, he's badass and unapologetically evil and he knows and revels in his villainy because he does it to pirates. The gimmick of his ship and crew are awesome too. I like the 5th movie
Jack Sparrow is your classic example of a chaotic neutral alignment, hands down. He is definitely not good, chaotic or neutral. He is self-serving and does what ever the flip he pleases, without regard for morality or law. More often than not, when he does a good deed, it usually serves his own interests.
Considering the whole AH trial the chances of there being anymore pirates movies is remote without CAPTAIN jack sparrow . And no one else could do the roll justice .
I agree. It's not like Jack just waits for Will to save him, he immediately takes advantage of Will's escape to try and make his escape. Besides, what loss of agency? Jack must've convinced the native people on the island that he was their god in order to a) save himself and b) delay the natives from eating his men. That's plenty of agency. Jack just didn't realize the natives eat their gods in their rituals to free their spirit.
Honestly I think chaotic good better represents Jack Sparrow rather than chaotic neutral. He generally has good intentions even if he doesn't want to show it.
Y'know, for the longest time my only experience of Pirates of the Caribbean was Port Royal in KH2. That world kinds sucks and I just didn't really think much of Pirates. Then over a decade later, I sat down and watched the first film and was like "Where the hell was THIS the whole time!?"

Lawful chaotic
Abiding by his own strict code of always being chaotic in any situation.
I agree with your assessment wholeheartedly
That intro was S tier
Gladly I never watched PotC 5 and can barely remember PotC 4. 1 to 3 as some of my favorite movies of all time, At Worlds End being my favorite of the bunch.
for me hes a chaotic neutral, but will wiggle himself between good and neutral depending on reason or needs.
I was told that the actor that played him came to work one day dressed as what would be done in the movies and proclaimed that this is what his character looks like. I don't if that is just a rumor but one of my siblings told me it.
"every time we procrastinated this, I did one push up."
"... Jesus Christ..."
Hey Stewart! If you're taking suggestions, ANY character in Arcane would be awesome, though Powder/Jinx would likely be the most interesting
Fun fact dead men tell no tales is turned into Salazar's revenge on Disney plus
Chaotic neutral. He's not a monster but he's still a pirate who will kill cheat and steal to get ahead
DAMN... Love the new look. I know its only for this video but sill... Looks good~
Chaotic good maybe? He’s very chaotic, but he almost always has a good conscience.
Chaotic Neutral, he is selfish at times and selfless at others. He tries to make others think he is chaotic evil but there is just enough conscience inside that makes him try to make things work while hiding his good qualities.
Pure Chaotic Neutral.
Nice Blue Chair reference in the intro
Oh my god.
HEY, THESE GUYS LIKED THE THIRD MOVIE! THAT IS ALLOWED!
hahah! liking something is always allowed
December video-athon!!!!!!!
I personally prefer the colour pie, and there he comfortably sits in black-red for his unpredictability and selfishness yet straightforward.
Thank god it's JoCat and not JoCrap
What's with the bow? What's the story behind that
I refuse to believe he's anything but chaotic neutral
I know it would be hell of an undertaking, but seeing one of these for straw hat Luffy would be great.
No sleight of hand check for the Aztec gold?
Am I wrong to think jack is the Joseph Joestar of pirates?
Jack Sparrow is your classic example of a chaotic neutral alignment, hands down. He is definitely not good, chaotic or neutral. He is self-serving and does what ever the flip he pleases, without regard for morality or law. More often than not, when he does a good deed, it usually serves his own interests.
before even watching the video I CALLING IT NOW, *he is chaotic neutral.*
I was mostly right, though very surprised at the amount of lawful good choices our captain made o3o
Chaotic neutral, not everything he does is good or bad, but it’s all bat shit crazy
Didn't even know the last two existed, going to pretend I still don't and ignore them.
Arf, no nat 20 scene for Barbossa's death. One of the shining moments in the fuckfest that was Pirates 5.
Somewhere between Chaotic Good & Neutral Good. Unless you want to call it "Chaotic Neutral".
23:58 *The real treasures were the Jacks we met along the way*
Me: Including Jacksepticeye
YES they DID have Pirates of the Caribbean in Disney World in Florida and long before the movie.
Considering the whole AH trial the chances of there being anymore pirates movies is remote without CAPTAIN jack sparrow . And no one else could do the roll justice .
When jakc makes backstabbing truces with the navy and davy and the lords. Its all for his own good, killing 2-3 birds with one very good stone throw
this is great
Have you done alignment videos on any Baki characters yet?
Chaotic chaos.
This is the day you almost caught (Crazy situation) Captain Jack Sparrow!
I disagree heavily with the scene on the island. I thought it was pretty funny, and Jack did try his best to help Will
Jack Sparrow is by far one of the best pirate characters that scene when he roles up to the dock in a sinking ship perfectly describes him
this took so longe to do because people who play DnD are all on different time zones
