    Ok so some of you totally do not understand why Frodo is the one who carries the ring.
    Frodo might fail a wisdom save or two against its evil, but he is the ONLY PERSON who occasionally passes those saves.
    Gandalf, Gladriel, and Aragorn won't even touch the ring because they know it will corrupt them. Nobody else in the Fellowship can carry it except Frodo.
    So if yall say he needs to dump wisdom, I'm sorry, you just don't understand Lord of the Rings.
    ALSO GANDALF IS A BARD BECAUSE THE MAGIC OF THE WORLD IS TIED TO SONGS READ YOUR LORE FOOLS OF TOOKS.

      I once read an old illustrated version of the Hobbit.
      Let's say dwarves are about half as tall as humans, 100-120 cm.
      In the books illustrations, Bilbo was maybe about half as tall as the dwarves, which would make him about 50-60 cm. For comparison, if memory serves me right, Yoda is 66 cm tall.
      So, if going from those illustrations, Hobbits are the size of toddlers. The blades of shortswords are around 30-40 cm long, iirc.
      So yes, considering that Gandalf said, Sting is large enough for Bilbo to use as a shortsword, the Hobbits in the movies are probably too tall, and Sting would be more of a (long) dagger to non-hobbits.

    Funny enough, while Frodo is a Thief, going off of the book and movies, I feel like Bilbo is probably an Inquisitive rogue. Like whereas Frodo does a look of sneaking and skulking, Bilbo ends up getting through his problems more through being observant, quick thinking and knowing the right thing to say. I mean, he's NOT able to sneak past Smaug, but IS able to talk his way out and spot the dragon's weakness.
    So Frodo is a thief who is trying to RETURN something (to the fires from whence it came) while Bilbo is hired as a thief despite not actually being one.

    If anyone is wondering, the reason Sauron didn't make rings for the Hobbits is because he didn't know that they existed. Not even the Ents knew they existed, and they knew of every other creature in Middle-Earth

    Idk how you decide who would be the next video but here are some options I would like at least
    1. Kimblee (full metal Alchemist)
    2. Death master Snitch (Warhammer fantasy)
    3. Konrad Curz (Warhammer 40k)
    4. The mask (from the movie and or comic series "the mask")
    5. Eren Yeager.
    Great video and keep up the good work

    I think another option for Frodo would be the Inheritor background, since it's whole shtick is an item that was passed down/entrusted to you that the DM can use as a plot hook.

    You know, considering Frodo essentially has a few magic items and like, one level in rogue (maybe one in fighter as well, but judging based purely on his feats of prowess our boy is not a very high level) I quite like this re-imagining. It lets Frodo naturally get some of the abilities his magic items grant while still staying mostly true to character, and still takes it to level 20. I wonder if this build was more difficult to lay out than some others due to Frodo's limited skillset.

  • @goji3755
    @goji3755 3 года назад +1

    Honestly I would have hesitated making a Frodo build which uses any kind of magic, given he casts no spells and mostly only interacts with enchanted items which are given to him on his adventures. Canonically the books describe him as having occasional visions, but that's about as magical as he himself is. On the OTHER hand, the odds that a DM is going to let you become a complete 1/1 Frodo all the way down to the last magical doodad are slim to none, so giving your halfling these abilities to _mimic_ the effects of Sting and the One Ring and the Phial of Galadriel etc is honestly the best way to go.

    Obligatory true strike comment
    Gatekeeping will kill a hobby as the longer out goes on, the harsher it gets and eventually no one will want to participate in the hobby aside from three narrow minded fools who believe the way they do it is the only way and equally complain about lack of people in the hobby

    id love to see Barbosa cause I actually made him for a Disney one-shot. The race was Variant human (with the fighting initiate feat), starting class rouge 3 levels total for swashbuckler and for the other two levels we could use I took in warlock of the undying for form of dread flavored as a skeleton and eldritch blast flavored as a flintlock pistol, it was some fun RP and a great build all I would've wanted was one more level so I could have Jack the monkey as a familiar

    I like this one a lot, especially because you picked celestial instead of fiend warlock. Sauron is technically a Demi-god, I believe, so that would still be a celestial. The only thing I would change would be to maybe use pact of the talisman, with the ring being the talisman. Would that fit better? I’m not sure if that would mechanically work, but the pact of the blade seems a bit off. Still a great video as always. Thanks Tulok!

  • @AzraelThanatos
    @AzraelThanatos 3 года назад

    I'm not actually sure if the warlock levels are as necessary. All of his magic tends to be specifically from items. Sting can, technically, be gained from 1st level easy enough, either from the "This Is Your Life" combined with Inheritor (Moon Touched short sword...is the quickest, though there is the minor property option that lets you have the glow when enemies are near...and it got upgraded over the campaign). The Mithril Chain Shirt actually works and could be the use of a feat...or just downtime training. Consider how long they were in Rivendell for Frodo to recover from near death there after Weathertop, and there's probably time there for it. Galadriel's vial doesn't match the light cantrip, and the Elven Cloak is already an item in game.
    The ring is an artifact/plot device there, as a sentient and cursed item tends to fit quite well for it.
    Frodo kind of fits Inheritor or Haunted One backgrounds better, both let you play with a few interesting things.

    I like this one. I mean, frodo isnt exactly a stone cold killer capable of stabbing you in the back so hard his hand is shoved out the front of your body (going by that huge sneak attack damage thats all i could imagine happening lol) but I know its less about the damage and more about the sneaky. Plus the literal plot armor he has letting him make virtually any saving throws to protect him from danger. I kinda like the idea of setting up a nemesis with ringwraiths (not sure what they would be in D&D) where the more you use invisibility, (not stealth) the closer these strong enemies get to you and the party. They can be driven off, but they will return. It could be interesting setting up a threat thats outside of the current quest your group is dealing with and would be easy to basically create some variation of "I have to destroy the macguffin, these monsters are sent to retrieve it, thats why im out here looking to join a party and not at home smoking the best weed in the district watching my feet get hairier." to put in your backstory.

    Race: Lightfoot halfling.
    Bckground: B.Y.O.B.
    Stats:
    #1: Wis: As you pointed out here and on Twitter, Frodo is one of the few characters confirmed to b able to make the saves against the ring.
    #2: Dex: Even without the ring hobbits are sneaky.
    #3: Int
    #4: Cha
    #5: Con
    #6: Str
    Class(es):
    - So here's the thing. Realistically the Hobbits are commoners that got swords handed to them and were drug along on a quest be party of mid to high level adventurers. None of the clsses really fit the aesthetic of the Hobbits from the show but I've got to go with something so how about.
    - Rogue: To go with the natural sneakyness of Hobbits augmented by the ring. (how the one ring was explained to me was that it gave you the d&d equivalent of Jack of all Trades/Expertise in addition to it's other powers.)
    - Hunter Ranger: Hear me out, Frodo walked across middle earth in over the course of an entire year or so, giving him, Sam, and Gollum plenty of time to learn how to survive in the wilderness. That and being constantly hunted by Orcs and Nazgul too. So I don't think some self-taught Ranger levels would be out of the question.
    - Now for the hardest part. When Frodo put's on the Ring he enters the Wraith World, turning invisible in the process. Invisibility is a 2nd level spell so to truly get Frodo we need to get to Invisibility. But the thing is, Frodo doesn't use any magic at all. He's seemingly completely mundane. So to get around this I say going with a Warlock. Specifically either Archfey or Fiend, whichever Tulok considers Sauron to be. Maybe re-flavor Pact of the Talisman to be a ring instead of an Amulet. But for power reasons if he does go Warlock he'll probably make him a Hexblade/Pact of the Blade. But we'll see.
    Show me the Goliath Bardbarian!

      0:41: a special sword for special stabbing, this is feeling mighty hexy.
      3:00: Hey, I was right about the Warlock levels. Didn't expect the Celestial though. But I was guessing this too accurately so far. Something needed to shake it up.
      5:02: Yeah I was kind of expecting that to be honest.

    Late to the party but, maybe instead of true strike you could use another (usually) bad, or maybe under appreciated, cantrip: Blade Ward. If you’re trying to stealth through, you can make it more unlikely you’ll drop invisibility by possibly halving the damage. Because that troll should have skewered you in Moria, but good thing you had mithril.

    Episode #253 of the Fire Emblem stats: Mr. Frodo Baggins.
    He's great at swords and authority as the one who destroyed the One Ring, but he's weak to both types of magic, bows, and axes due to his fellowship and heavy armor due to his spry frame.
    He has great speed, dexterity, luck, and charm but is pretty easy to knock out overall.

    My guess: Halfling Rogue with a few levels of Warlock, I'm guessing Archfey (for Misty Escape) with Pact of the Talisman to represent the Ring.
    EDIT: Off to a good start, but missed the Warlock Patron. I would personally build Frodo with Archfey, since I feel like the Archfey spells and ability match more closely with Sauron than the other Patrons. Also missed on Pact, which I do understand since it's the only way to guarantee Sting is magical with a Roguelock. Would probably still go Talisman though, since his power is from the Ring. Also, while thinking on it further, I feel like Inheritor would be a more appropriate background than Far Traveler, since Frodo does very little traveling before going on his adventure.
