This scene got me speechless for real, I loved how he changed the roles for her, and for gods sake, their acting is amaaaaaaazing, they were both in it, m so satisfied with it
Another little detail: the way Christian kneels and positions his hands is the same way Leila places hers... and I think it comes from his years as Elena's submissive... it is only when Ana kneels down as well, on the same level with him, and Christian starts looking up... I also like the slightly scare in Christian's eyes when he opens up himself: it is like a little kid making his confessions. Christian is afraid of opening up himself, and also losing Ana... I don't know how good an actor Jamie Dornan is, but he is not as bad as people say he is, I think.
Yeah agree, its just some popular opinion people throw to make them look better without actually understand the situations and it honestly stupid. I honestly didnt find a problem on the acting but we have different opinions on something so whatever....
In the books, this scene plays out far better. Christian is way more desperate and the scene actually takes time so when she realised what he's doing, it actually shocks you. a bit disappointing seeing how it plays out in the movie.
Movies like this series, Twilight & 365 Days literally romanticize toxic relationships and everyone eats it up. Me included. That has to say something about us, but oh well. 😩😩😩
One of my favorite scenes. The kneeling is like he's submitting to her. Then the taking her hand and putting in on his chest.... The one place he wouldn't allow her to touch before. In that moment he truly gave himself to her.
What bothers me is what Ana points out when speaking to Christian. She tells him "I will never be able to give you that type of submission and obedience". She doesn't say "How could you have established such a power dynamic with an unstable and needy girl that is in love with you and exploited her feelings so that she literally kneels at your word".
The whole scene is supposed to be about him laying bare all of himself to make her stay. She knows he's a sadist but he has always said he wasn't. This is him showing how far he's come.
This is coming from a therapist of 18 years. This is not love this is a trauma response. He needed help and therapy none of this would have happened. Trauma runs deep....but this is not true love it is lust. Both of them deserve better.
Jamie and Dakota are the most brilliant actors I've seen in my entire life. I don't think I would ever get bored of watching "50 Shades of Grey" movies or any of their movies. I'm glad to say that now, Dakota is my very best inspiration and motivation like Jamie. They are truly the very best ever. ❤❤❤❤❤
I'm tired of people saying it's cringe worthy this or that. If you dont like/wanna watch it, keep walking. Dakota is a wonderful actress. More so, than Jamie but they have undeniable chemistry. This scene is way more intense in the books
Listen. . . The moment where he puts her hand on his book isn't cringey at all. Nor was he making her feel his heartbeat. When Ana expressed how it was hard for them to be more open with eachother because he wouldn't talk to her or made her touch him, he took her to the living room, gave her a lipstick , and made her draw out a map so she could know the areas she should touch, and not touch. In this scene, he placed her hand in the area he didn't want to be touched. The part of his chest that has more of the cigarette burns. He was being very vulnerable and open here. I do wish they wrote and played it out differently because I only was able to put this together when I watched the franchise a 3rd time in a span of years apart. So the audience must've been laughing or something thinking this was cringe but it wasn't. There are subtle moements like these throughout the franchise that makes it a better experience to rewatch and makes up for bad choices and writing.
Only Dakota is the one good at acting, at least in this scene. Jamie’s acting in here just isn’t good. Or he just portrayed the character in a different way
I beg to differ on that. Leila had some deep seated emotional issues to begin with. Christian, in his office with Ana, explained that situation and how he even figured that out about Leila and ended that arrangement when he figured out Leila needed way more than a fantasy world in which she chose to be a part of. He figured out that Leila needed a therapist. There’s a line in that world you don’t cross. If you do cross it, then it’s a red flag that you need more help than a “master” can provide. It’s a fantasy world where you can explore different sides of yourself and your sexuality. The people that take part in that world need to learn something about themselves and BDSM helps with that. Men can learn through giving up control to a dominatrix how to be a more emotionally present and intuitive, caring man. A woman can learn through a “master” how to be more assertive and make her own real life wishes known and demand more respect and how not to be a doormat. People learn these things in different ways. Some can learn traditionally and others learn this way.
A toxic relationship is a gentle way to explain this mental disease. In this film It looks fantastic but in most.cases It IS something serious. Good film anyway. ❤
This isn't a love story anymore than Wuthering Heights was. She is as sick as he is. No woman who values self respect would ever call this a "relationship".
I don't understand why people call all the relationships with sex scenes toxic. Christian and Anastasia were never ever toxic, their relation was way too deep, more than you could ever understand. Judge less, understand more.
It has nothing to do with sex scenes and everything to do with the fact that this is not an example of an emotionally healthy relationship with respected boundaries
Luv these movies,Jamie and Dakota did a great job,if people can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all.If you read the books you would know why Christian was the way he was and he was going to therapy in the books.I saw a beautiful love story! ❤ ❤

Well I can try and answer that on my own example.. 4 years ago I was very broken and I met a pretty handsome, 10 years older, poker player guy. Driving his tesla, going on vacations, eating out… I was only 18 so all that lifestyle was new for me, felt like I was in a middle of a film shooting. I was very submissive to him.., very… in every way of the word. I love dominant men. But it was a toxic pattern, however I loved him truly. Anyways, fast forward a year.. he basically lost everything. His car, apartment, we moved into his mom’s apartment because it was empty. The only thing remained was our toxic ways.. By that time he left me around 3 times. When he left the 4th time, I never went back to him. And he’s still trying to contact me after so much time. I had a weird obsession … it took me a LOT of time to get rid of that. I was searching for him in everyone and I was crying after him all the time. So yes if she truly loves Christian she wouldn’t have left if he lost all of his possessions . But I’m not sure if she would’ve fallen for him in the first place. I guess we’ll never know that..
when that girl leila kneeled I was like " ew sick disgusting" but when Christian kneeled I was like DAMN DADDY YES I literally said " oh that's fucking hot"
Her pimp got her addicted to crack and would beat Christian and burn him with cigarettes. A total misrepresentation of toxic relationships like these. That never happens. For long.

True! This scene was my most favorite part on the book.. And i'm kinda disappointed on how it played out in the movie. I was looking for more
Especially if you read it from Christian’s POV it’s so sad 😭

she has that desire to save him from himself. he seems to want that. his acting should be more in this scene . Dakota is really in it

She doesn't say "How could you have established such a power dynamic with an unstable and needy girl that is in love with you and exploited her feelings so that she literally kneels at your word".

The way he said "this is me ,all off me and I'm yours"😍😍 right there he gave up everything for her
My toxic trait is wanting a rich handsome man like Christian to treat me like his own Ana. Lord I am tore up from the floor up.
Why is everyone dissing this movie I like it the way they play the actors is great maybe some scenes could use more work but great movie all together
I think they should have included the discussion ana has with dr Flynn so all these stuff would make sense to people.

How Christian can turn most likely a very nice girl like Leila into a submissive is truly a red flag. Ana should have run
I beg to differ on that. Leila had some deep seated emotional issues to begin with.
