I had the same problem with my feral cats. When they were born they hated me and they pretty much hated me for about nine months of their lives. I remember I was able to get close to one of them while feeding and I softly petted the tail. It startled her at first, but made her curious about me and she started to not run as fast away from me. I did it again and she liked it so much that she started always coming up to me for kitty massage. Soon all of the kitties were interested in me rubbing their backs when they saw how much the one kitty liked me and now I hold them and kiss them and it's awesome! Yeah, they hated me for a long time before that though!! One other thing too, I had them all spayed and neutered after they started to love me and I thought for sure they would hate me again, but they were so happy to be back home in my yard that they loved me even more. I was really stressed out about that too, but what a surprise. Anyway, that's my experience with the feral cats. Try to love on that tail maybe.
Yeah that’s what I was doing while they were in the cage in the house. After a few weeks just stroking the tail, then the back, then hand feeding then I could pick em up. Then the vet visit set it all back. I’m not giving up though. Thanks for the vote of confidence😊
Chad...you make it right🥰...you seperate the two cats from the othr cats....i hope it works soon....🙏🙏🙏🙏....and the two litle ramdo's love you sooooo much...who the others 🥰😍🙏🙏 You amazing 👍😄 🇦🇹🙋♀️
We adopted a kitten with disabilities. She walks like she's drunk. She's gotten better over time but her stool stays wet and sometimes she falls in it. No matter what food we try and the vets are no help. Anyway, we got her a new kittin companion and turns out she didn't like that. Our new boy cat wants to rough house and she doesn't like it. We thought maybe over time she would get over it. No, she still 3 years later hates him. And 3 years later, we had 2 kids. Both are allergic. So I spent $4,000 remodeling my garage for the cats. But the heating/ ace wall unit I got seems like it can't keep up with Chicago's winter temps.. The other side of the garage is roughly 10 degrees or more cooler. Nevertheless, I also can't spend a ton of time in the garage with them either. I think its cruel that they are out there by themselves... I feel like rehoming would be better for them to be in a new home. Though I am afraid of doing it. Is it best they stay with me because they know and love me or go to a new home where they would be inside a warm home with someone new who can love them? Ella is 3 and Luke is 2.
Chad do the make a front end snow blower for your John🚜Deere, you could see if you could even buy a front end snow plow. Chad, I'm sure the two cats will come around, keep at it.😺😸
The most likely do although it’s a big expensive to alter the tractor for a front pto. I think if I was to upgrade I may look into a rear mounted front facing blower. My plans fit the sawmill in the near future will require the forks on the front and I wouldn’t want to keep changing implements.
Be careful Ninong.. your passion and perseverance will soon pay off❤️ i just love reading the comments of your viewers☺️ They are correct let’s go for 100k🎉 🎉🎉
Very interesting how RUclips is working, your channel was suggested to me a few days ago n you mentioned of a sudden increase in followers, but you have nice content helps me to prepare for a sleep in a good way, will try to watch it from start
They don't hate you, they're just scared. Try to hang out with them in the catio, just chilling, reading or something. With the whole claw crew around so they can see that no one else is freaked out by you. A little cat nip and treats can go a long way. Sometimes it just takes time but I'm sure you know that.
I LOVE your channel and content !!! All of your barn cats are adorable but I’ve grown very attached to Fozzy Bear. I was so glad when you rescued him from that other farm where all the other cats were picking on him 💔. He looks like he’s gained quite a bit of weight lately or is that mostly his winter coat? Bless You for your kindness to these sweet cats 💕
It's a heartbreaking lesson to learn, but like people, you sometimes just have to let a cat... 'cat'. My two foster kits on our farm were raised together, living in a nice house as indoor kitties. They were given to me to take care of and THEY decided to become outside farm cats. Squirrel comes in part of the time and is almost like a roommate. His brother, Moose, loves me just as much, if not more, but is bound and damned determined to not come in the house, even during the coldest bone-aching nights. I worry terribly, but I will never force him, safe trap, net, or grab him by his scruff. He has to cat...
Be nice to the barn cats, it is cold out and feed them and give them daily water and make a warm place for them to live. And make sure they get regular vet visits for health. Yes, those pets/barn cats have a value, my parents had a few and we would take them in during real cold weather. Have a good ay.
Hi, you are such a loving pet owner thank you. I had three semi feral cats a mom and her two kids. I recently lost my black one and got attacked outside by some thing I tricked my mom and the sister into my house and now she’s driving me crazy to go out, I feel like you I don’t want to give up. I just feel she was used to being outdoors for seven years and I feel sad to keep her out of nature. What do you suggest? Thank you.
Well to train a cat to a home it needs to be confined 2-4 weeks. I barn train our cats for 4-6 weeks just to be sure. First 2 weeks in a cage or small room, then free roam in the barn only. After that I let them free and they’ve learned the barn is their home and will always come back. That being said we’ve lost a few cats to predators so I now have trained the cats to come back to the catio/cat house to be locked up overnight. Free during the day only. If you’re trying to train the Mom and kittens to your house they need to be confined for several weeks especially the Mom is older and harder to train so it will need more time. I’d keep them in a room at first getting them comfortable with you and using a litter box, then graduate to the whole place then finally outdoors if you wish. Best of luck 🐱
@@HiddenSpringFarm thank you for your response. I kept her in for a couple of months when the warm weather came, I let her out again but she does not want to come back in this is the second time I had to trick her in. I think I will have to keep her in permanently and my male cat is a brat to her. Keeping my fingers crossed everything will work out and thank you for what you do for all those wonderful animals.
I have a walk in mamma cat, LBJ, who ended up having 3 kittens. I homed one and kept Tux and Murty. All were vaccinated and neutered. However, even though they were raised indoors and loved and fed Murty remained extremely skittish, which broke my heart 😢. They will be 2 years old on 17th September. In the past few months Murty has suddenly found her style and her character and has become extremely affectionate towards me. I live on a smallholding with the 3 cats and a pitbull terrior but share the property with other cottages. So my encouragement would be to let them develop their personalities, they will come around. I have never had a cat raise her kittens and keep them in the same household... That is proving interesting. The girls band together as tuxy gets older and bigger so I am watching to prevent him being chased away. From a cat lady ❤
Thanks for the backstory. Cats are cats and all are different. Those two might never be tame like your others. I’ve got three who were trapped as kittens with the intention of taming them and placing them in homes. That never happened. At best they’re semi feral. I worked with them and they live inside. I can pet them when I feed them but picking them up is out of the question. I have four kittens that were also trapped that I had vaccinated and neutered and turned loose to live in the barn. I never made any effort to tame them but two of the four have tamed themselves know their names and enjoy being petted. I understand your concern about the cats safety but you can only do what the cats are capable of accepting. Good luck
Exactly right. I just need them contained so they can’t hide from me. I’ve done it once with the claw crew no reason I can’t do it again with these two. Wish me luck.
Also.... They might see other cat get caught in trap, so you might need to disguise it by covering with a blanket and put towel on the floor of it. I once had to arrange furniture so the cat only had one way through and into the trap. Put a tame cat with them for sure.
I have the cats, I used a net. They’ve never been out on the farm either cause I don’t trust I’ll be able to get them back. I’ve got them in this room as you can see in the video so we’ll see where that gets me. At least they’re contained and I can sit in there everyday while they get used to me all over again.
I suggest sending atleast 30 mins of playing with a wand toy with a feather. Also a lickable treat or freeze dried meat. They need toys and they need shelves and more places to hid. They need to learn that good things happen when you are around.
Btw i love your chicken coup and duck coup. Its amazing. Your orchard is my dream. Will blueberries and strawberries survive there? Thats my dream too.
Nice! I always wanted to have something like that for my cats along with the birdfeeders i have. I thought it would be funny to watch all the wildlife munching lol.
I've been telling my family about this channel. You are so charming with the animals. I love cats too. Here is to achieving 100K. 🍾 🍾 How many cats do you have?
That’s what caused this issue…me chasing them down for an hour to go to the vets stressing them out, developing a fear of me. I’ve been through this before when the 4 older cats were feral and I think I did a good job of making them love me. Gotta do it now with these two.
@@HiddenSpringFarm we have wildcats out here on the Olympic peninsula and wild dogs if you can believe that.., and you know that male cats will travel miles to breed.... You have got a beautiful homestead and you guys are doing better than most...✌️❤️👍👍👍
Oh wow, wild dogs eh 🙈 I’m happy I have all these boys fixed so they shouldn’t wander anymore. Even Chewie is neutered and he’s one of the ones in lockup, maybe that’s why he hates me right now, maybe he associates that vet visit with me.
Best of luck! You seem to be well informed on things to try out to help in this situation so not sure I can contribute with any suggestions, except maybe just trying to reach Jackson Galaxy. @@HiddenSpringFarm Subscribing to keep updated. Also, fixed that last sentence. Wow that sounded bad, not sure how I didn't see I didn't spell out *beautiful all the way and just wrote beat. Yikes
Can you take them home so they’re around you everyday for a few weeks? I think that would be the best way to get used to you. I can’t believe they’re already coming up on a year old! Have you gotten them fixed?
I did that for the past 6 weeks, cause I was thinking like you and they were improving…I could pet them and they we doing better. Then I had to take Bubbles to the vet. Oh boy what a disaster, she punctured my finger even with my work gloves on. Just picture me half crawling in to grab Bubbles with Chewie defending his sister and swatting my head like popping a balloon. Got all scratched up. Could have made a funny video but once I got bubbles to the vet I set up this room thinking it’s bigger than a cage and they won’t feel like they’re backed in a corner. I never had this issue with the other cats (even their other brother & sister Mango & Tango are not like this) Chewie is neutered. Fun times with the cats that for sure.
@@HiddenSpringFarm Oh wow! Glad you wearing gloves! Cat bites can be super nasty. I know you’re really patient and will give it your all. Sometimes cats just have skittish personalities. I have a cat that I’ve had since she was 6 months (she’s now 13) and she still runs away any time I come in a room. She only comes near me when I’m sitting and still. If Bubbles ever calms down enough to let you pick her up without almost losing a finger again, try just putting her in the travel crate, giving her a treat or a can and then letting her out. Then escalate to rides down the street. That way it doesn’t automatically mean something bad when she sees it or has to go anywhere.
They grew up with two siblings and 4 adult cats…petting and cuddling everyday and it had no effect. These two are very sketchy, their two siblings are fine.

I'm too scared to let my cats outside, I don't let them free roam. You need to hold and play more with the kittens when they are really young or else they will be very skittish. Had a pig growing up in a farm in Illinois. I didn't fatten her up. Pigs ca run hella fast when they are not obese. Do you sell your farm animals to market or are they just pets?
Yes thats true and I did cuddle them since infancy, I think I made them scared of me when chasing them down to get them to the vet. They’re slowly improving though. So far of all the animals we raise our own meat chicken and duck. I do sell baby ducklings and chicks and hatching eggs too. Occasionally the adult bird as well but none of it is really to go to market. We just got the pigs last summer, maybe I’ll breed and sell some. My wife wants us to make a lechon but these pigs are Julianna and pretty small, we’ll see I’d like to raise some feeder pigs for the freezer and maybe lechon but I need a setup first.
@@HiddenSpringFarm Oh no, You can't lechon a pig you already named, what's wrong with you?! Leave Julianna alone. You just have to buy another pig and fatten him up for lechon. Don't name your food! Have a blessed day ;)

YOU LOVE YOUR ANIMAL FUR BABIES SO VERY MUCH CHAD I BELIEVE YOU WILL WIN YOUR KITTIES OVER.. GOD BLESS
Thnx for the encouragement 😊
Chad...you make it right🥰...you seperate the two cats from the othr cats....i hope it works soon....🙏🙏🙏🙏....and the two litle ramdo's love you sooooo much...who the others 🥰😍🙏🙏
You amazing 👍😄
🇦🇹🙋♀️
yeah I'm trying.
Cats are hard, but on a farm they are needed.
Very much needed, I just need to be patient. Before we got cats the mice and moles were tearing up the place.
Be careful Ninong.. your passion and perseverance will soon pay off❤️ i just love reading the comments of your viewers☺️ They are correct let’s go for 100k🎉 🎉🎉
Thank you so much Ren😁 I’m all in and well over 500 videos now. 🥂 🙏
Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for listening
Just found you and will support you every way I can. You're awesome!!!
Aww, Thank you so much!!
Very interesting how RUclips is working, your channel was suggested to me a few days ago n you mentioned of a sudden increase in followers, but you have nice content helps me to prepare for a sleep in a good way, will try to watch it from start
Awesome, welcome to the farm
They don't hate you, they're just scared. Try to hang out with them in the catio, just chilling, reading or something. With the whole claw crew around so they can see that no one else is freaked out by you. A little cat nip and treats can go a long way. Sometimes it just takes time but I'm sure you know that.
Yes that’s what I’m gonna do, it’s going to take time but I’m in.
Aww thanks, I really appreciate that. I actually think all the cats get a bit thicker coat before winter, but Fozzy Bear is just a chonkers too 😂
It's a heartbreaking lesson to learn, but like people, you sometimes just have to let a cat...
Bubble’s several yrs old, but still looks like a kitten 🤷♂️
Give em time they will come to love you just keep them penned up
That’s the plan, at least they’re contained now. I’m working on them. 😊
The pack mentality is really strong, it would have maybe helped to separate them and bond with them prior to letting them in with the older cats
Love your channel
Be nice to the barn cats, it is cold out and feed them and give them daily water and make a warm place for them to live. And make sure they get regular vet visits for health. Yes, those pets/barn cats have a value, my parents had a few and we would take them in during real cold weather. Have a good ay.
Did u watch the video? Everything you’re saying here is mentioned in the video. Thnx for the tips.
Good luck
Don't force it.
Go in and just sit with treats.
Use toys too.
Perhaps a feather on the end of a wire.
Get them hunting
Exactly right. I just need them contained so they can’t hide from me. I’ve done it once with the claw crew no reason I can’t do it again with these two. Wish me luck.
Your patience will win out in the end.
Yup I’m gonna kill ‘em with kindness and love
Cheers!!! yes we have a small blueberry patch with 3 varieties that are good for zone 5b, strawberries in the garden too.
Yes you're absolutely right, gotta earn their trust again.
Nice! I always wanted to have something like that for my cats along with the birdfeeders i have. I thought it would be funny to watch all the wildlife munching lol.
Love how you treat your cats but dont those pigs need some hay to stay warm & comfortable?
I've been telling my family about this channel. You are so charming with the animals. I love cats too. Here is to achieving 100K.
🍾 🍾 How many cats do you have?
That’s amazing 🥂 We have 8 cats total and they do great work on the farm. Just gotta get these two a little more tame. 😊
I have been off grid for 20-something years and have had many Barn cats you have to get them fixed or it just won't work ✌️
That’s what caused this issue…me chasing them down for an hour to go to the vets stressing them out, developing a fear of me.
@@HiddenSpringFarm just keep feeding them don't fall in love with you again LOL
Best of luck! You seem to be well informed on things to try out to help in this situation so not sure I can contribute with any suggestions, except maybe just trying to reach Jackson Galaxy. He may have some tips and tricks you haven't tried. After all, he had a show that helped cats and their human have a better relationship. Beautiful kitty cats, and again, best of luck.
Edit for typo with last sentence.
Thank u, yeah I have a plan we’ll see how it goes.
@@HiddenSpringFarm Subscribing to keep updated. Also, fixed that last sentence. Wow that sounded bad, not sure how I didn't see I didn't spell out *beautiful all the way and just wrote beat. Yikes
How many months a year are you snowed in. Which general area are you at? I’m a new subscriber 😊
We’re close to Horseshoe Valley, Ontario 🇨🇦 and we get varried snow from roughly Dec to March then the big melt starts.
So what happened with them?? I’m dying to know!
Oh it’s an ongoing saga…they’re making progress though and I r been updating g as I go. I will have a full episode on it once I’m successful. 🙏
Why did your chicken have yellow gingham tips??
Oh that’s just a hen saddle…I call them aprons, it protects their back from the rooster.
Cats can only be kept outside in warm climates!
WRONG!
Are the pigs actually pets?
Also let them watch you petting the tame cats...
They grew up with two siblings and 4 adult cats…petting and cuddling everyday and it had no effect. These two are very sketchy, their two siblings are fine.
Surprised no guardian life stock dogs well i guess u lock all yours up with your cats around if u get some dogs to guard from wolfs and coyotes it help but im assuming u thought about that before lot of traning to do with them
Yes and because we’re running a farm stay here not quite sure yet how I would contain an lgd let alone how often they’d be barking. An lgd may be in the future though.
@@HiddenSpringFarm id say look towards nate petroski thinks his name narrow home stead or somthing like that he's got AZ gld and trained him by himself with no fences or nothing if you haven't already checked his channel he's got minion a little dog AZ ducks cats and stuff with both of u posting content im sure he be open to chatting
One fat cat. Lots of mice...
Haha that’s Fozzy Bear and he must be 15lbs, he’s a big boy but loving.
@@HiddenSpringFarm is he a good hunter?
@@beejls haha no not really but he’s the king cat here so he just steals and eats the mice the other cats catch 😆 🐱
@@HiddenSpringFarm love cats and dogs. Enjoy his love.
Have a blessed day ;)
@@risquecat nope, once they're named they're part of the team
A treat that I seem a lot people use on fearls is Churu, they seem to love it and warm up
never heard of that, I'll have to look into it thnx.
