Je hebt je droom en je ode aan je ouders met dit optreden neergezet Joost. Ook al ben je onterecht gediskwalificeerd wij blijven je steunen.
This. Honestly the lack of consistency and transparency concern Eurovision is disheartening.

As an American, I am extremely baffled by the fact this man got disqualified yet had the best performance
I’d say Croatia had the best performance, but Joost still should’ve won
Why’d he get disqualified?!
@@OfficalNoHoppsLife some stuff happened with an Israeli women filming him when he didn’t want to be filmed, he got mad about it and the women reported him and got him disqualified, not to sure of the perfect details though
@@IronicR thanks
@@photofreak56 maybe, idk
It infuriates me that after everything he walked off that stage clearly very emotional and was immediately bombarded and then disqualified. He deserved to win and everyone knows it.
Didn't he assault someone?
No, a lady harassed him with a camera when he politely said he didn’t want recording. He pushed the camera away and got disqualified . The lady was also asking about his dead father
This is literally world peace why didn’t he win
He was wrongly accused of shoving someone off stage, he was being recorded/taken pictures of in a restricted area so he shoved the camera but the person claimed he shoved them but he still got disqualified
Who would win?

This song can make even the most die-hard Americans patriotic about being European. Source: me, the person in question.
Yes 100% I feel officially European! Never been there in my life!
Welkom in Europa ☺️
i love how joost keeps smiling even though i can feel his pain.
Why would he be in pain?
@@captain_kirkyt2481 he lost the competition because he allegedly “punched” a lady.
@@Bumblebeehoneys are you talking about him smiling in this video? because this was before the accusation.
The pain you see behind his smile is the pain from performing an emotional song. The song was a message from him to his parents, he said as much himself in the video that plays behind him. At the end, he also spoke out aloud a message that was for his father, keep in mind he lost both his parents at a young age.
@@LokelyConed i was talking about after, but also before at the same time.
You can watch this a million times and not get tired.
Everything is increible. Cheers to production designers and media team. The visuals. The audience, The lights. Costume, The choreography. Its all so good! I wish I had more context as to understand the meaning more. The technical production team and editors are so talented.
I recommend looking into the meaning and layers🧅 as it makes it even better..
@@SoManyColours I am trying to wrap my head around the depth, my understanding is the message of unity and inclusivity inspired by his father’s vision of a world without borders. I do not get the Stromae reference, and probably a lot of the other layers. But it is very interesting to see his message resonate with a lot of people.
@@ajk_i hope this helps, but the song was made to tell a story similar to Joosts childhood. A story of an orphan traveling around europe with no aid or any knowledge of the world, scared of what’s to come. The song, I believe, was something he could rely on since he heard it often on the radio.
@@mcjordyman4238very helpful. Thanks!
I don't care if this guy got disqualified I'm buying his album and if this goes on itunes we're making it platinum.
Goosebumps! I stumbled across the original video on tiktok by mistake about a month ago and I'm hooked! I only just heard of him, and he’s living proof that humans can come together with music!
I didn’t even know Eurovision was a thing until I saw Joost Kleina perform
This performance created a love for Joost that transcends all borders, the world loves this man and no disqualification could ever change that.
HE. WON.
No he didnt won he got disqualified but he won in our hearts ❤
@@Plunger_CamaraMan no he won
Honestly he and Nemo should have both won, both of their songs are extremely fitting for Europe, one about how everyone there is connected by the fact that they are European, and the other is about how while everyone is connected at a certain point, we're all different in our own way, too. Both of these not only represent Europe, but the whole world.
It gives me the shivers in a really really happy and wholesome way how everyone yells as loud as possible the "EU-RO-PA!" and "HEY!" parts of the song
As an American, he is the real winner of Eurovision
i think the thing I find particularly appealing to this is what I assume to be a funny american accent. I'm american and it just delights me. idk maybe he's not doing that and I'm perceiving it wrong but i'm delighted none the less.
I think for me it's his energy. He just seems to be really living in the moment. Having fun himself, and just enjoying spreading the fun. And even though I can't understand what's he's saying, it's a song I can just bop to. The energy is just infectious.
@@goldenarmorpikachumy friend sent me this song yesterday and told about him not winning cause the bs of dq or something but today I told him I came back to this song like 80times today his energy is just amazing and I told him just looking at him smile makes me smile idk I can’t explain why but I agree with you.
@@muffinman7479 same. I also feel like eurovision just didn't want this song to win because they had that one breakout hit on american radio and they want that again. and like... the whole reason I love eurovision is cus of songs like these that are just fun to listen to, danceable, and full of the joy of living. it's not a product, it's not content, it's a fun song you can dance to that's delightful and makes you happy. it's why i started watching and paying attention to eurovision in the first place. if i wanted radio friendly music competition, i'd watch one of the bajillion horrible american music competitions. I don't want to watch that. I want to watch and listen to something weird, something unique, something that's gonna fill me with boundless joy. that is the spirit of eurovision to me.

NO JOOSTICE NO MORE EUROVISION CONTESTS
This song was a message not only to the whole of Europe but also to his parents which he lost early on. At the end you can hear the words he wishes to say to his dad. He was extremely emotional after performing this song, which is exactly how you should feel after something like this. Before the show, he requested that after the performance he'd be left alone so that he could retire to his prep room and deal with the flood of emotions that would come from this performing such a personally vulnerable song, this request was granted. After the show, he made his way backstage and was immediately harassed by a female videographer, he put his hand on the camera to signify that he had no intention of being filmed at the time, which the producers had already agreed to. This led the female to accuse him of assault which resulted in him being kicked off the contest before an investigation even began.
I was born in Switzerland so i am very happy that our country ended up winning, however, it felt more like a participation trophy than a true win considering such an incredible contestant was unjustly disqualified.
Wow!
Top Joost!!
They really did him dirty though by showing the slow part of the song for the voting part.
This was his own choice.
I think he chose that himself. Really don’t understand why tho, he should repeat the chorus
@@juicyrm1374I think it’s more about the message and people will remember the song anyways
@@juicyrm1374 the chorus is in everybodys head, so it was actually a smart decision to choose the slow part

This is the most European song I’ve heard in ages, unifying Europe and yes very Dutch with the Gabber addition, which complements the tempo of the song nicely. Anyone who has been to Holland knows Joost is a typical down to earth quirky Dutch guy.
And the ode to his dad at the end of the- symbolising how the Dutch society had been was perfection.
This song should have won.
