Amy Lee, truly a gift vocally. It's just one of those songs you want to sing too. When you watch the official, realize as you listen she never touches the ground, she is a ghost that he can't let go of. It's amazing in that context. IMO great material
I got to see her live last year and I think my soul left my body. When she performed My Immortal, the whole crowd was singing along and she looked like she wanted to cry. It was one of those magical experiences that makes going to concerts worth it.
Ethereal is the perfect word for Amy Lee's voice on these emotional slow ballads. Angelic is another. She has the most amazing voice. The official video for this song is beautiful and spawns great discussions.
This is my favorite Evanescence Song. I have seen probably more than half of the U Tube reactors tear up when they hear this song. It makes me tear up. The song reminds me of the most heartbreaking breakup that I went thru 15 years ago. There isn't a day that I don't think about her.
That electrifying feeling you have, her voice does that to you when you’re in that room. They are incredible live, I see them every time they come around.
When I helped run a young lads football (UK) team from under 10s to under 16s we had a young lad called Stevie Gee, and this was his favourite song. Unfortunately he drowned of the coast of Majorca at the tender age of 17. This was played at his funeral, very emotional. RIP Stevie.X
Another unbelievable female voice is her friend Lzzy Hale from the band Halestorm. Yes I spelled her name right. The song to listen to is Break in they both sign on it.
my Wife and I saw Halestorm when they were the opening band on the main stage at Uproar Fest (2010?). The lights were down, Lzzy walked onstage by herself and belted/screamed and held the first word of "It's not you" with no accompaniment and the whole place went absolutely silent. I think we all just thought, "WTF" at the same time. You had to be there, I can only compare it to what I imagine people feel when they start holy ghostin' in church. I doubt many in the crowd even knew who they were, but a lot of us became instant fans. I 3rd that.
I always appreciate you candor, Britt. Nice reaction. I saw Evanescence, along with Holy Wars this past may in Puerto Rico. An amazing show. Amy Lee's voice is intact, just pristine. 👌🏽
First off, excellent reaction to a beautiful song. Secondly, I love that shirt and must have one....looks like something your cousin (sub there too) should own and certainly wear! Kindness is in fact free! Thanks Britt!
Amy Lee is my girl forever. Her voice is a warm blanket on a cold day. Enveloping, warm, sultry, ethereal and otherworldly at the same time. She is so calming, listen to her all the time
I love watching your videos and ill cry listening to this as this was the last song my friend Beth sent me before committing suicide I never thought she would do it as she always talked about it but I would talk for hours she must have had pain I can't even fathom
I'm pretty sure she's getting at with the "My Immoral" line is that she's saying you are gone and I'm trying to move on but you haunt me, you're immoral in an entirely different sense. Like she said she's basically being haunted by this person who she can't have and can't move on from no matter how she tries, its like they're immortal and can't die or be erased or moved on from. A very unique way of thinking about someone being immortal.
For the "record": "The lyrics of the song refer to a spirit that haunts the memory of a grieving loved one. Similar to several other songs written by [Ben] Moody, the lyrics of the song are based on a short story he had previously written. According to Lee, it was "Ben [Moody]'s song." Moody said that the song talks about "a spirit staying with you after its death and haunting you until you actually wish that the spirit were gone because it won't leave you alone." He also stated in the booklet of Fallen that he dedicated the song to his grandfather, Bill Holcomb. In "My Immortal", Lee expresses her feelings through the line, "Though you're still with me / I've been alone all along.A writer for IGN said that "'My Immortal' is a song of pain and despair caused by the loss of a family member or very close friend and how it drove her [Lee] to the edge of insanity." OMG! I can't wait til you hear something from the Synthesis concert. Full thing available on YT. This song is in there, plus a bunch of other really incredible . . . No . . . Masterful works of art.
The song is about the loss of a child. It’s unclear whether she is referring to a sibling or a child. However, for those of us who have felt that haunting space left over after a child is lost. It’s quite unique.
First time hearing, and it is beautiful. Anytime the percussion holds off until later in the song, it just hits you in the face , it's then you realize that there were no drums until then.
From somebody who saw this live 20 years ago and 1 year ago she sounds the same live and gives the same emotional range live. Amy is an actual goddess!
You just need to take a quick trip to Canada this fall. Evanescence is touring with Halestorm, and the Warning are opening for them. Great bill overall.
I’m not sure if it’s ever been said about this song but I’ve always felt it was about her sister that passed away when they were young. The song ‘Hello’ from the same album is also about her.
Also, the original version of this song didn’t have the heavy part at the end. I first heard that live and it took me off guard in the best way. There’s a version with their friend David Hodges doing the harmony vocals as well.
They are conducting. And thankfully - it's soothing, reflecting, heartfelt - not violent promoting etc. In my opinion. Yes I know anyone can make anything out of anything. But the crowd is swaying, not beating the **** out of each other. Although I'm sure there are examples of that at any kind of anything that anyone wants to bring to our awareness. It's true though, that there is a power in this, and how you use it, matters. Whether you just wanna do the thing, or not.
The original studio version was just Amy and the piano. Then when the song was released as a single. They added the rest of the band and it was just like this performance.
What I love about this song, aside from the musicians and, obviously, Amy's voice. It's the way the lyric tempo doesn't change. Regardless of the way the music rises & falls to different levels.
I love her voice - ethereal is a great description. Their song Hello is hauntingly beautiful. As for this song, love it, but it is associated with my long-time (25 years) stalker. When this came out, he told me this is our song. And then told me he bought a lithograph of me that is part of a museum archive, so I can be in his home. I haven't physically seen him in over 20 years, he is harmless to me, but his last message included a picture of my new home off of Google maps - i didn't give him the address. I am just his obsession, and, oddly, I would miss him if he stopped trying to be my mate. When his wife left him because of the obsession, I was a little nervous, but years have passed since then. It's a little creepy, but I guess I learned to live with the little love notes and the yearly gift of heart ornaments. It is part of my most interesting life's journey.
Her name is Amy, Amy Lee. There’s 2 versions of this song (that I know of), the one you’re listening to and the other takes away the power ballad portion and maintains the softer tone throughout.
Amy didn't leave the band, for all purposes she is the band, she's had a lot of different member in the band over the years, but she plays with the band and has done some solo work and work with other artists. She is amazing in concert, I've seen her/them twice. I'd love to do it again if I get the chance. This is an awesome performance of her and them doing My Immortal.
Yes, the album version is this slow. I suggest you check out Evanescence’s more recent song “Use My Voice”. A very appropriate song for the current time.
Amy didn't leave the band, it was the guy she formed it with (guitarist?) who left after the first album. Nobody 'lets' her do the song this way: it's very much HER band: she decides they're doing it this way, then this is how they're doing it...
Amy Lee did a really cute Kid's Music Lullaby album in 2016 called "Dream Too Much", you should check it out. Also, the official video for this song is crazy, good and better seen first. IMHO
I know artists like to make their works Nebulas and Vague so that the audience can make it their own; Therefore given the given, this song reminds me of the Colton Burpo movie “Heaven is Real”. Where Colton goes to Heaven and asks Jesus where the Holy Spirit is and Jesus says that the Holy Spirit is on Earth with The Body of Christ. TO ME, this is the Holy Spirit’’s love song to Jesus.
It's been suggested that she's a ghost. Stuck in one place and time while everyone else has moved on. In the video her feet never touch the ground (she's on something like alow wall of a fountain rim), and nobody seems to see her. Please look for acoustic versions of her. Just her and a piano or a guitar player.
Amy Lee has one of the best voices you can hear. Se has a Whitney Houston level voice. You really need to react to Evanescence(Amy) cover The Beatles(John Lennons) ' Across the Universe'
Please react to the Evenesense official video "You Never Call Me When You're Sober" and Seether's "Broken", which Amy sings on. These really showcase her vocals.
After hearing Dan Vasc’s cover of this song, I cannot listen to any other. He just elevates everything he does so much that the original song is just ordinary. This isn’t bad; it’s just nice and ordinary, and I prefer more than that from my music now. Still a very good reaction, though!
Amy's voice is what I imagine an angel's voice would sound like. Pure angelic.
Amy Lee is iconic. What a voice!! ❤️❤️🔥🔥
Amy Lee, truly a gift vocally. It's just one of those songs you want to sing too. When you watch the official, realize as you listen she never touches the ground, she is a ghost that he can't let go of. It's amazing in that context. IMO great material

Amy’s voice is so haunting… in a good way. Gives you chills & you can truly feel the emotions behind her words. Great Reaction! 🩵🥰

She's got a great connection with the lyrics. And her voice is just brilliant.
I took my Daughters to see Evanescence on their first tour when they came to Detroit. When She did this song on the piano it was amazing.
I saw them last September in concert. This song hit hard. One of the most beautiful live performances I've ever heard. By the end I was sobbing...
Her voice is angelic, literally can bring tears to your eyes
I love your expressions and I think you are so genuine 😊
Another unbelievable female voice is her friend Lzzy Hale from the band Halestorm. Yes I spelled her name right. The song to listen to is Break in they both sign on it.
@jasonbarts9202
Yep. 2nd that.

And they sing too!!!! JK
I have Requested that one repeatedly
It's a shame she's such an embarrassment in her personal life!
I always appreciate you candor, Britt. Nice reaction. I saw Evanescence, along with Holy Wars this past may in Puerto Rico. An amazing show. Amy Lee's voice is intact, just pristine. 👌🏽

“Lost in Paradise” The Session… Fantastic!
In my opinion, I always listen to studio first to catch everything and then watch the lives
The video was so awesome. You have to see it if you haven't. I love your breakdowns and reaction
I will check it out
I love watching your videos and ill cry listening to this as this was the last song my friend Beth sent me before committing suicide I never thought she would do it as she always talked about it but I would talk for hours she must have had pain I can't even fathom
Her voice is Angelic. Plain and Simple. When i go i definitely want to be sang to the gates by her voice.
Beyond incredible 🙏🙏🙏
I believe she wrote this song in remembrance of her younger sister who passed away at a young age.
I'm pretty sure she's getting at with the "My Immoral" line is that she's saying you are gone and I'm trying to move on but you haunt me, you're immoral in an entirely different sense. My inmortal, you died but your memory lives inside of me and feeds my pain forever; you are inmortal for me.
AMY LEE THE QUEEN❤❤❤

My Immortal Beloved.
Evanescence and Halestorm are going to be performing together at Rocklahoma on Labor Day Weekend.
Lost in paradise live at the Nobel prize cerner is a MUST
OMG! I can't wait til you hear something from the Synthesis concert. Full thing available on YT. This song is in there, plus a bunch of other really incredible . . . No . . . Masterful works of art.

It’s quite unique.
It was her sister I believe that the song is about.
Britt from the snippets of yourvoice you’ve shared, I’d dare say you’d give Amy a run for her money 😮❤
I agree! Britt, you have a beautiful voice!
First time hearing, and it is beautiful. Anytime the percussion holds off until later in the song, it just hits you in the face , it's then you realize that there were no drums until then.
I’ll be seeing them in October, & I can’t wait!
With Halestorm and The Warning-those shows will be lit!
Loving the comedians. Shane and all the guys as well
So awesome!! I love this song!!!
Watching them live was amazing!
I can only imagine!!
Britt I notice we are opposites in that you like watching live versions and I tend to like studio versions!
From somebody who saw this live 20 years ago and 1 year ago she sounds the same live and gives the same emotional range live. Amy is an actual goddess!
I was at the Australian release concert not long after my dad died. Just over 20 years later they came back and no lie it was the first time I cried.
If you like her more melodic stuff you should check out " Broken" it's by the band Seether ft. Amy Lee. Goosebumps every time.
'Squirrel' lol
❤❤❤u it's a little sad this morning but it's a good song
I liked your video 16 seconds in because of your fantastic shirt!
Yay, thank you!
Hi Britt, I like your shirt!
This was written in remembrance of her younger sister that died when Amy was very young. She's done a couple others that are about that too.
You just need to take a quick trip to Canada this fall. Evanescence is touring with Halestorm, and the Warning are opening for them. Great bill overall.
Amy Lee did a concert with Wagakki Band from Japan, The pairing on Bring Me to Life and Senbon no Zakura are amazing
There’s an incredible acoustic version of this. If you check it out, you won’t be sorry.
For my money, the ultimate start slow and explode song is Going Under. But what do i know?
The arrangement is the studio version, but there is two versions on the album. The other one doesn't have the heavy part.
I’m not sure if it’s ever been said about this song but I’ve always felt it was about her sister that passed away when they were young. The song ‘Hello’ from the same album is also about her.

Amy's adorable! ❤
I think this song was written about her sister who passed away 😢

Amy Lee. She duets with Lzzy Hale, Break In. Simply AMAZING

You need to listen to Bring me to life from this same concert. It's amazing.
Evanescence - Hello

Im gonna get to see Amy in a couple months at louder than life. Can't wait
She has a song with Seether called "Broken", u should check that out.
You need to watch the official music video to really understand this record.
Gotta check out my heart is broken by them
There's a bunch of music videos from that debut album. Check 'em all out lol.
Yes, the album version is this slow.
I suggest you check out Evanescence’s more recent song “Use My Voice”. A very appropriate song for the current time.

Not only one of the greatest voices, but Amy Lee is one of the most beautiful women to ever walk this earth...
If i am nto mistaken she wrote it for some1 from here closest circle that got cancer I believe and was dying
Lost in paradise is great
You got to do epica next check out unleash the archers too
In the song she is the one who died
I know artists like to make their works Nebulas and Vague so that the audience can make it their own; Therefore given the given, this song reminds me of the Colton Burpo movie “Heaven is Real”. Imagine writing a song like this at like 16 I think it was....
Should have reacted to the music video. It has close to a BILLION views. There's a reason for that. It adds so much to the lyrics and their meaning.
It's been suggested that she's a ghost. Stuck in one place and time while everyone else has moved on.
In the video her feet never touch the ground (she's on something like alow wall of a fountain rim), and nobody seems to see her.

Amy is my frankenstine singer she captivates
Amy Lee has one of the best voices you can hear. Se has a Whitney Houston level voice. You really need to react to Evanescence(Amy) cover The Beatles(John Lennons) ' Across the Universe'
React to Amy Lee Speak to Me you will cray with her voice and The change but the caustic version in Germany.
Watch the official video of it... not stop goosebumps
Please react to the Evenesense official video "You Never Call Me When You're Sober" and Seether's "Broken", which Amy sings on. These really showcase her vocals.
The song is about her deceased sister
No it’s not it was inspired by Ben Moodys Grandfather. Hello is about her sister
Hai britt, you have to watch and react this man... Dimas Senopati, a singer from indonesia....
Bring me back to life was the other song
ps I love your shirt that's boss
Emo is literally short for emotional, so emo kids couldn’t lack emotion
Nice song
Look up "The Band" song-"Paint my masterpiece" A Bob Dylan cover but think you'd enjoy it
Amy ❤❤❤
the music video. you should.

Hey its lb2 again, i gave u the wrong title of that video i wanted u to review its,,,the day elvis died, media coverage, american trilogy,,,
I believe she wrote this at 15
