I’ve lost a good amount of my family over the years and this song has gotten me through a lot.

When i was a child i would spend my entire bus ride (40 mins a day) to and from school listening to Evanescence and linkin park. they got me through my darkest days, and were there with me when i had my best memories. This song is a conversation between my inner child and my adult self. My inner child had to become the protective adult inside of me before I was old enough to know I had this protector. My inner child protected me emotionally from my father's treatment. Now as an adult, I realize that I had this protector that I was unaware of. I'm grown up, but he's still a child carrying the sh!t that I was exposed to so that I didn't have to emotionally deal with. Unfortunately, I'm peeling off the onion skin layers to reveal just how important my little person was for me before I had the conscious ability to think about my childhood situation.
