Madame de Montespan was very ambitious, manipulative and selfish from what I've read about her and how she has been portrayed in a few movies and a mini series that I've seen. From what I've read, Louis was besotted with her and she managed to hold onto him for a number of years. Even though this was over 360 years ago, I felt bad for Queen Maria Theresa who had to endure the barbs and loathing from Montespan. I feel bad for any historical queen that had this happen, including Katherine of Aragon.

Fouket was imprisoned for life and not killed by Louis.

You are absolutely right. Louis wanted to get a death sentence for Fouquet, but did not get it. Fouquet was imprisoned for life, and died in confinement. Thanks for clarifying, and thanks for watching!
