Your photography is really stunning and your musical choices or the just the beautiful sounds of nature, enhance the atmosphere and make it a joy to watch your videos. I really look forward to watching your progress in this beautiful part of the world!
I loved what you said at the end about nothings becoming something and also what you said about abundance. Staying in that place of gratitude and abundance opens things up. Happy Homemaking!
I noticed in past videos when you gave us all a tour of your spaces and what was left behind. So many objects from the past, some wonderful and useful for repurposing and somethings perhaps not what you would consider useful to you. I love all that you've done so far and watching what you tackle to get comfortable and knowing that you'll settle in gradually and make it all worth while, because that's what time spent on what you love means. Thank you for the beautiful shots of the super moon. When it is full and so close to us, it feels even more mystical than usual.
we have hardly thrown away anything beyond empty paint cannisters, broken plastic flower pots, mouldy matresses and and brittle garden hose. many many things will get another life chapter with us 😊
Your ability to envision what you can do with what you have is refreshing. It’s nice to not see you unboxing numerous items of cheaply made crap from wherever. I love the beveled glass in the mirror in your bathroom, and I love how you used the old and beautiful door to create an outdoor table. You are my kind of people. I’m a recent viewer and I know this is the channel for me. May I ask if the younger fellow who was up on the barn roof is family? I will go back and watch the other videos and of course will learn more about you. I was pleased to see him wearing proper working boots and safety gear when using the chainsaw. My father was a woodworker and his union insisted on steel toed boots and hard hat etc. He was 35 years accident free.
aaah i'm so glad you found us! thank you for all your kind words. the young fellow 😊 is a very good friend! you could say, part of our chosen family ❤️
@@storiesfromthecascina Yes, I have a big brother now so I understand and love the term chosen family. I grew up in a family of four girls and I always wanted a brother. At 60+ I now have one! He is kind, thoughtful and very, very funny. I shall watch some of the other videos this morning.
I really like how you film these videos. They take me back to my younger years when we would watch documentary films from the National Film Board of Canada. I enjoy how you just have the ambient sounds and when you add music, you let the ambient sounds stand out. The music you choose really compliments the story that you are telling. That looks like a great property and I hope you keep documenting your progress so we can follow the amazing work you're doing.
I love repurposing things and making old/unwanted items beautiful again...so I absolutely LOVE seeing what other people do with their so-called "junk". Looks fantastic there, I'd love to sit at that table with a glass of wine with you! 🥂
I do so love the format of your program. It’s one of the very few that I watch that I don’t flip quickly to the end to see what happened. .. Thanks for sharing. you have a beautiful property, beautiful buildings
You've done a lot! Bertus and Marijan did such a good job on the barn roof, and the interior stone work is beautiful! Love the outdoor dining table and cushioned lounge area. You should be so proud of yourselves! I worry about your feet without work boots tho...
we fully understand and appreciate your worry about our feet ❤️. when working with heavy objects like stone or big machines we do (99,9% of the time) wear workboots. but in the middle of a heatwave and the reality of having an adhd brain, reality doesn't always end up being the ideal scenario all of the time.
You have so many projects to do but every one completed adds a sense of satisfaction. The little things like a shower curtain make life just a little more comfortable. I loved the cushions and seat you made for in front of house. A place to rest and take in your beautiful views.
Hi Issis & Bertus, Nice seeing the progress from de diverse work moments, as it has to be step-by-step Things come to the place where they should be. well -Done 🇮🇹🇳🇱👍🏻🛠Greetings from the old Dutch Norwegian🇳🇱🇳🇴🙏🏻🍀☮😊.Hubertus.
Very much enjoyed this video! I am inspired by you both, and as we head to Abruzzo tomorrow from the US to visit our fixer-upper house, I am hoping we can get some things done as well. We only have a short time and our house needs a LOT of work. But it is a life project, not a race!
The table is really nice. I am glad you have hot water. You’re right about useful things many times they are the best. We live in a disposable world and we can do better.
yes, we can do better ❤️ as soon as we let go of the pressure to do it perfect (or do nothing at all) there is space and opportunity for doing better 🥰
You must be careful with your hair loose and working with machines. I have seen video of a girl getting seriously injured. Love how you work together. In afrikaans we say "skrop nes" referring to chickens nesting.
Love to c the chainsaw making huge improvements outside - nothing worse than trees in the way of you when walking or tree roots moving walls and foundations ...
I’m loving your organic approach to renovating. I believe you need to live in a room before you know how it needs to work. Your videos are very calm and relaxing too ❤
You have so many wonderful and handy things left on your property that it will fun to come up with creative and useful solutions to help make your new daily life more livable.... brava!
Great progress. That young guy who is helping you has gotten a lot of yard work done. What a great help for you two, it must be overwhelming. I was just looking at pictures from seven years ago when we moved into this house and remembering how it felt to just try and get it livable.
Nicely said your last dialog. Appreciate the thing that is already available. Nothing becoming something. My hubby got his own saying: we make do with what we have.
it sometimes takes youtube a few hours to generate subtitles. feel free to check back tomorrow. (doing subtitles manually is currently too much work for us on top of the 2 full workdays we spend on editing them - hopefully in the future when we get faster at editing we will be able to provide our own subtitles).
Having come to the channel from “The Story Of One Year” I miss the exposition that was present in that video. I wish there was more explanation of what was happening, the why and the how. Not a “how to” at all but a rationale for what is taking place. Also wish there were subs for non-English language sections since you have chosen English as the language for your work. You have a wonderful way with words when you do share. You also have a natural eye with the camera. This is great work you are sharing. Thank you from someone who can no longer dream.
Very creative! Mark and I love the scenery. May we ask, who is operating the drone? All of the photography is done so well! You know what’s really refreshing? That the two of you are just so darn pleasant. Very down-to-earth people. Nothing posh or pre-staged . The two of you obviously have skills. It’s clear you appreciate each other as you work.
Do you not have to worry about ticks and Lyme diese where you live especially when you see the deer. I hope not . I worry when I see you walking around b with out leg coverings in long grass, great work you have done so far.
it's apparently taking youtube a bit longer than usual to generate the subtitles! so sorry for that. i hope they will be there when you check back later/tomorrow.
Your beautiful camera work, stunning countryside, amazing buildings and calm, lovely demeanour has me entranced. I so look forward to the next post. Great work, thanks for the posts. ( Australia)
Looking forward to your next post. Thanks for sharing. I to loved what you spoke in your ending this installment. Not everyone has that state of mind. The both of you are far ahead of many!
The worst thing about your videos is when they end. 😢 I love the blue tile in your bathroom. It looks like you may be thinking to paint it darker above the tile and that would look stunning. 🎨😊
Living and renovating in such a remote location forces one to be creative, and every thing done thanks to one's own ideas and abilities is doubly pleasing. You have a great gift for capturing the beauty of views, wonderful shots.
That was a very good idea making a table out of the door and it came out beautifully. What you said at the end of the video is quiet true and I can not wait to watch the continued progress you both are doing. Hope are settling in a little more now. Have a lovely day.

So true what you said at the end Issis. A soft place to rest after work. A place to eat in the shade and hot water!!!
Love your message at the end! So true we fill our lives with so much "stuff" that we don't really need!! And complicate oue life even more!! 🤗

aaah enjoy your time in abruzzo ❤️❤️❤️
Love the interior structure of the barn. They, the builders, like you used those things around them. The door you repurposed came out beautifully.
yes, the builders of the barn and also the previous owners, they kept everything that could still prove useful in the future 😊
I really enjoy your videos! So well done!

yes, there will be guest accomodations in the future :)

Onwijs leuk om te volgen dit :) Maar let aub op met los haar en machines 19:38 dit kan heel slecht aflopen (a)
Lovely message at end, and so true. You both have a wonderful canvas with which to work.
good to hear it resonated ❤️
Love your vlogs. The table turned out beautiful.

Great attitude!
The sphinx, or hawk moth are out in my lavender this year. I have not had them here ever and there are lots.

Beautiful!

ticks are most numerous here in may/june when the grass is still juicy and green. we do check for ticks daily, just to be sure.
