The creative options (for a creative couple) in your setting is endless. Curious to see how you'll renovate and decorate all that space and make it even more beautiful! With an art atelier! As for the grounds, you've got so much land! Hope you'll take us on a tour some day. Also, do you have an olive grove? What plans do you already have in place for the use of it? Truly exciting times for you guys!
We just discovered a small old olive grove on our land last week. It will need a lot of love to come back to life. We are not in a region where olives are typically grown, so this is quite exceptional! We'll absolutely show you around more of our land in a future video :-)
@@storiesfromthecascina Well, first I'm very honored to have my comment pinned, thank you!
How exciting you have an olive grove!!! Nothing beats the taste of freshly pressed olive oil, besides its many healing properties. You've been very blessed with that discovery by itself. And it does deserve to be loved, something we already know you have no lack of. Looking forward to follow along this most exciting of journeys! Cheers from Newton, MA, USA
We've been getting more questions on the land so I thought I'd pin this so that others can easily find and read it too ;-)
Martijn and Johannes are still about 2,5 hours drive from where we are, but we've been following their journey's from pretty much the very beginning :-)
@@storiesfromthecascina No kidding. How wonderful! I hope some day I get to know you all in person. Until then, I'll continue living my Italian dream vicariously through your videos! :o) Much love
I enjoy your style of Storytelling; no forced drama or awkward comedy. Many Thanks, and I look forward to your next video!
I love how you are doing this - slowly and carefully, enjoying the small stuff. It's already looking more homely. These are the most precious days, growing memories.
Doing a house tour in conjunction with the floorplan was very helpful! TY for that inclusion!! 😊
I agree ❤💚
Yes, I thought that was very helpful too.
We're glad you liked it and found it helpful!
I also thought showing the plans was very helpful. Thanks for doing that!
Yes! That was very helpful. A video tour only, which most people do, doesn't really help much in terms of layout, the plan and little arrows helped so much!
I'm from the Pacific Northwest in the US and love finding these video's that let me travel to new places and meet new people. Am looking forward to watching the change you will be making to your new property as I have been with Martijn Doolaard. Take care and keep on keeping on.
I thought of Martijn too! They're practically neighbors; he's in the mountains east and a bit south of Turin.
What a gem of a property.. lots of work to come, but so many options and a liveable space while you do it 😊
Thanks for sharing your video! The wreath was beautiful! My favorite part of your videos is the way you narrate them. The words, your voice, and the speed. Very soothing!
Yes, loved the wreath as well!
Nice natural touches for the outside. Loved it !
love all the diagrams, explanations of the state of affairs of the buildings, and drone footage. Great to get a sense of the place to become orientated to everything. So exciting.
“Creating for the joy of creating” Thank you for reminding me of something I have let slip in all my concerns for the future of the planet. From Australia
I like the way of renovating your house or farm
It is fascinating how these hills have been sculpted and utilized. So much work!
Your home is absolutely beautiful! My wife and I can relate to the adventure of moving to Italy and purchasing a house here. In 2017, we left everything we knew behind in Los Angeles and moved to Tuscany to live our dream and start new lives. After 5 years of living here, we were able to purchase our dream Italian villa along the Tuscany seaside and we couldn't be happier. We can only imagine how excited you both must be to move into your new home, especially during the beauty of the Italian summer. If you ever need advice on navigating the Italian bureaucracy, we are here to offer our support. Best wishes and congratulations from Casa Ardor ❤
thank you so much! we wish you so much joy and satisfaction with your renovation project in tuscany! ❤
BEST TO YOU
Wow! This was a beautiful video. So well put together, so peaceful and enjoyable to watch. I can see you are both creative souls, I really look forward to following your story and seeing how your new home and land evolves over time. Thank you for sharing your adventure. Loved the wreath!
The tour was very visual, very interesting thanks!
What an exciting project! So glad you made your cheeky offer on the farmhouse and were accepted. What a find!❤
The diagrams are a great help. I wish you the best of luck
Oh thank you! We're so happy that we did too!!
Hallo Isis and Bertus, it is so nice that the newer part of the house is habitable, it makes it so much easier to renovate when you have a decent place to stay. I love all the old treasures as well; I hope you find some really beautiful ones you can keep. The older part needs a lot of work, the possibilities are endless. Your property is so amazing, and the views are stunning, and the sunsets are beautiful.
We'll definitely be holding on to a few of those treasures that we find :-) Thanks for following our journey!
I can see why you fell in love with this place. It has a feeling of home.
It would be a good place for an artist retreat, lovely light and beautiful views. What fun you will have planning everything. A lot of work also but that’s good for the soul. I’m glad I found your videos looking forward to more. Best wishes from Montana, USA.
We think so too! Coming from an artistic background ourselves, artist retreats are one of the things on our list with possible projects for this place. It would be just perfect for this. Welcome to our channel!
Enormous potential! Best wishes as you move forward with your new life on this property.
Thank you Barbara! So much potential indeed, no shortage of ideas here! 😅
Love the Bowler Hat....Almost from the Godfather movies walking down the lane......
We love it too!
Congratulations on your new home! It’s beautiful and has so much potential. Thank you for taking us along on your journey.
Stunning place. Beautiful furniture. Lots of small treasures. Enjoy all of the old memories. Thanks for bringing it alive. Happy exploring
Oh those views ...... :)
You are doing a fabulous job with the tour and editing. Bravo!
Thank you for sharing your precious adventure...🙏🌸🌸🌸
I have say I'm partial to u-tube channels that bring old properties brought back to life, it looks like you have some work ahead of you so I've subscribed and looking forward to watching your progress.....
wishing you the best of luck
from Thailand 🙏
You guys really lucked out! It’s so special, congrats.
Thoroughly enjoyed your well-guided tour through the house. What a fabulous place! Can't wait to see the next video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I dream to do what you both did. I am 55 and I can see that a dream like a my wife and I have, it’s possible. Thanks a lot. Beautiful video. Nice music. Fluid edition. Keep your channel this way. I love it
You are a Life Poet. Evidenced by your closing soliloquy. I look forward to clocking your journey.
Grazie per aver salvato questa vecchia casa. Lunga vita a voi!
Concordo plenamente. E a casa ainda está em bom estado. Uns restauros e fica bem. E algumas mobílias são fantasticas. Aquele guarda fatos com espelho enorme .lindo
Seeing that long neck wine bottle brought back lost memories of the 1960's. More of a tourist trend than anything else. Best of luck on the renovation.
For us it was the first time we saw one of these! After some googling - thanks to your comment - we learned that this is a vintage Chianti wine bottle (the original labels on our bottle have worn off to a point of not being legible anymore).
@@storiesfromthecascinamy parents & I lived in Germany in the 1970s & I remember Mom buying a bottle of wine like this (I’ve forgotten if it was Chianti, I wasn’t old enough to drink at that point, lol), but the neck was twisted like a grape vine & she kept it for many years, even after the alcohol was long gone. Great memories, thanks!
You have a big job to do, you only live 100 km from Pinerolo where live.I'm Scottish my wife Belgiam
Subscribed after 4 minutes, I like your narration, attitude and place in Italy 🇮🇹 😀 greetings from Australia 🇦🇺
I love that you were fortunate to have some of their furniture. I would move some of those things around and it would be great. Keep positive and you will make this amazing.
What a beautiful setting--I can see why you fell in love with this farm. The house has so much potential & I'm excited to see your plans & progress. Lots of work, but much reward.
I really enjoyed this video. It’s in better shape than I imagined . starting to look like you are moving in. Lots of rooms. Texas USA
I was impressed with the kitchen, cabinets, stove, countertop, backsplash. Was surprised how nice it looked.
The views are spectacular
Thank you! This channel seems very promising so far and I'm happy for being allowed to follow your journey. Good luck with everything! I live in the south-west of Sweden btw.
Thank you so much! We have considered for a while to move to the south of Sweden, as we have quite a lot of friends in Skane :-) The Italian sunshine hours eventually won :-P
interesting house
So glad you are filming this, I can’t wait to see what you guys do with the place. What an incredible place you have! Cheers from Alabama!
Test the water👍
WOW new home Congratulation!!
They left you a fortune in tools. Congrats. I just love your farm. REMEMBER ANTIQUES ARE WORTH MONEY.
Absolutely! As an archaeologist & historian by training we are very well aware ;-) Such a shame how many beautiful old things get destroyed by people who are unaware of the value!
@@storiesfromthecascina Once you get caught up or have a day you want to take a break, it would be so interesting to have you share some stories and/or a small 101 on Archeology and History.
@@meri8746 Thank you for the suggestion! We'll let that idea simmer in our creative brains for a while and see what that could look like 🙂
Oh my goodness, I love your video! Your skills at putting it together are amazing. Love everything about your beautiful new home, and can't wait for the next video. The wreath is gorgeous and such a sweet addition.
You could put some beautiful cobblestone flooring. Would be very nice. It's a beautiful farm.
What a beautiful place. Amazing.
Wow can’t wait to see your journey on your new home.
Thanks for posting and sharing.
It is almost like a meditation watching your videos. Super excited for both of you and can’t wait to see the changes you will be making.
Oh wow! Thank you!
Dankjewel Truus!
Amazing property. Jackpot!
Love your hat
I am loving your videos! My favorite thing is to follow along with people who are chasing their dreams!! I am not able to, so much…so your journey is very inspiring to me. Thank you.
-Orlando FL
Thanks for sharing!! We don't know your particular situation but if it is of any comfort: we never thought this was ever going to happen for us, until it did. More often than not chasing your dreams means putting one foot in front of the other, slowly, for years. Focusing your energy on what feels doable in the here and now. For us it started with dreaming, going on workaday/wwoofing holidays, taking Italian classes, and much more. It's a journey that began 15+ years ago, but that was largely invisible to anyone but us. We hope you find those small ways to bring your dreams alive too!
Greetings from Canada. I very much enjoyed the tour of your home to be! Thanks for sharing. 💕🇨🇦
Wow you are on top of the world Belisimo, I would paint those 1970's kitchen cupboards ,lime green, or sky blue, some bright fun color, great video, lots of hard work, cleaning up someone else's mess, The things you don't want, maybe you can sell them,or take them farther Away, than the nearby village, where they will gossip
Very nice house with great potential. I was delighted with the old part of it with the built-in cupboard in the wall with wooden doors and stone floor, the windows give a lot of light. There is a bricked up fireplace in one of the rooms? They must have used to heat the house before they installed central heating? There are indeed many things left from the former owners in the living room there is a very nice chandelier and the furniture is interesting too. The house is very cosy, I think you will enjoy living in it and the views from the window WOW.
Your videography in exceptional!, by the way….I want to taste the wines stored there in those pantries and shelves. I bet they are wonderful.
Thanks so much!
What a fun and interesting adventure you are about to have. Best of luck to you, and I will continue to watch from the USA.
Your video is so well explained (the floor plan was a great idea!) and vivid that even the smell came across. You have a heap of work ahead of you. Ancora tanti auguri!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Such a pleasure to watch your films, the editing, the music---surely not canned youtube music?---all just superb.
thank you! at this time we are still using youtube's audio library for our background music, but we spent a good few afternoons to pick out the best that it has in store 😅
OK, then you just have better taste than most. Had either of you any previous experience in video editing?@@storiesfromthecascina
@@yusufabukaarmen270 hi jusuf! We didn't have any experience editing video, but isis has worked as a professional photographer (mostly weddings) for 8 years, and that experience has definitely helped.
Wat een geweldig huis met ontzettend veel mogelijkheden hebben jullie gevonden 🤩
Ben ontzettend benieuwd naar wat jullie ermee gaan doen in de toekomst 🍀💚
Another adventure by an intrepid couple, I follow a lot of you. Thoroughly enjoy the DIY, garden renovations and seeing the beautiful places around the world. 😊
I like your approach to the vlog and to you both as a couple. Have you mentioned what you planned to do with all those bedrooms? A B&B? Excited to see the progress.
We'll do a dedicated video about our plans but yes, we'll do a few holiday cottages and b&b. Since we're both creatives we'll also make a few dedicated creative spaces/ateliers for different things (metal working, wood working, textiles/art).
You’re almost in the middle of the Asti zone in Piemonte. That would make your property a prime vacation place for wine enthusiasts. Maybe even set up your own artisanal vineyard?
You're lucky some nice pieces of furniture where left behind. Also some fun treasures. The cupboard in the bedroom will be fun to go through. the brick floors and the painted ceiling are nice.
#1890 here .Congrats on you're purchace. Thank you for taking us on this incredible journey. Much love from, Alberta, Canada.
Thanks and welcome!
Welcome home 😊
Thank you! 😃
I love the Time Capsule of furniture. Some of it is very nice. Looks like real wood. Not like todays pressed board. Hopefully just some woodworm treatment will suffice. The farmhouse has a lot of charm. And it’s very spacious. Can’t wait to see you’re progress.😊
Thanks for following our journey! The furniture is of varying quality but we will be keeping many pieces. And there's definitely many that can be saved. The items which have woodworm damage are mostly the ones made from untreated (not stained, painted or varnished) wood.
Oh, my goodness! Amazing place and breathtaking views! The possibilities reach to the moon, almost! 😊 I can see why you are so excited. Thank you for sharing. It sure brightens my life. Janice from Arkansas USA
How exciting this must be for You 🙂
Have a blessed stay and start of this House-Project 🌅 🏘️ 🙂
Thank you!
filmed beautifully I can not wait to follow your journey!!
Welcome to our channel!
@@storiesfromthecascina dankjewel!! 🌹
It looks so beautiful and peaceful....😊
Wow the cupboards were so dirty! I love your wreath it is very pretty. Greetings from UK. 🇬🇧
Thank you so much Alison! The kitchen was something else 🤣 Still more work to do to get it clean, but "poco a poco" (bit by bit) as they say in Italy. We just got rid of the incredibly dirty fridge and oven last week. 😊
Welkom in Italië..wat een plek e wat een huis! Ik woon hier al 5 jaar maar dan in Liguria..ook in de bergen in een klein dorp.
Veel succes en hou vol😉🤗
Wow! Looks great!glad you have usable spaces for now. I love the blue bathroom tiles, that cool stone sink with white surround tiles. And all the tools . Those things I would probably keep.
I'm Italian, I'm curious to follow your adventure.
keep going !😄
welcome to our channel ❤
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Beautiful state.
Your videos are stunning! Well done with those. 🤩 I'm so looking forward to see your progress, and maybe even come visit some time! 🌸
Thank you so much dear Andrea!
you need some Beautiful glass chandeliers.❤
Very interesting project and very well done video! I may have missed what region of Italy you are in- we love Italy and cannot wait to explore more areas. Good luck and thank you. Richard.
Hi Richard! We're in Piemonte, the north-west of Italy, somewhere between the Alps and the Ligurian coast :-)
@@storiesfromthecascina thanks so much for your reply! Good luck with your restoration. All the best! Arlene and Richard, Hamilton Ontario Canada.
I admire you both and can’t wait to see the progress that you’ll make for this home. We bought a French country farmhouse in December 2021 and although not in the condition you have but still lots of work we want to carry out. It amazes me how wonky the walls are, nothing is a straight line. The 19th century stone sink is a treasure I love seeing and I hope you keep yours as well. ❤All the best!
The sink is there to stay! It's damaged and doesn't have good drainage because of it but we'll find a way to incorporate it! Good luck with you project
De vijzels zijn fantastisch! Gebruiken in de keuken voor pesto.
Reken maar dat de vijzels blijven én gebruikt gaan worden!
You will need a lot of money ,Time and nerves to fix this wonderful Farm BUT than you will be very very very happy with it❤❤❤❤
We have a very old house in South Germany…since 2 years we are fixing 99 Prozent only my husband and me AND we ARE very happy BUT not all is always positive those old houses have a lots of hidden things that need to be fixed and and does cost a lot of nerves and money BUT we stay positive and I hope you two will do that too.Stick together and you both will be very very happy there ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you for the encouragement! And best of luck with your own renovation project !!!
aventura fascinante y bella cinematografía. Me encanta como el hombre contempla, observa, camina, come, relaja frente al fuego, mientras la mujer hace todo el trabajo. Típico.
Wonderful to see your beautiful old home, and the start to a great adventure. Looking forward to the next years of renovations. Greetings from Thailand 🇹🇭
Te gek! Ben heel benieuwd naar jullie journey, prachtige plek. Thanks for showing! 🫶🏼 Amsterdam
Leuk dat je ons avontuur mee volgt!
I read that woodworm can be killed off in furniture by placing the furniture where the temperature gets below freezing for a couple weeks in the winter.
So many possibilities, a complete wedding destination with chapel and accommodation in the old house. Market it to the Netherlands. I am sure you can connect with local people to source food.
Isis has been working in the wedding industry (as a photographer) for the last 8 years and we're fairly sure we don't want to turn our property into a wedding venue. it would be suited for it, yes. but it's not the kind of life we want to create here. ❤️
beautiful purchase!
wat leuk om zo mee te kijken met jullie proces!
dankje voor het meekijken Bertine!
You are very courageous. Greetings from Paris.
Italy has so many beautiful old farms and homes. Unfortunately, the rules and regulations make it very difficult to purchase and then renovate. I wish you luck and success. It is a lovely home.
Yes, in that respect Italy has its challenges - but it's more a matter of being patient and learning to navigate the bureaucracy (and calling in a good geometra and commercialista to help with that). On the bright side: those rules and regulations are also why historic town centers in Italy are some of the best preserved in the whole of Europe. Renovating an existing structure here is a lot easier than getting the permissions for building something entirely new in a location like ours.
Beautiful house and property you have 😁
how fun to go thru and discover all these treasures!...like an archeological find....found the mice yet?😀
no mice yet :-) dead or alive :-P
@@storiesfromthecascina wow!....that's a very good sign!!😀👌🙏
@@robertsteele8688 there have probably been a few at times in the past. found some traces of news paper scraps that have been used for nests and mouse poo. but only in the old part of the house.
So much potential!
Awesome video
Very interesting week of discovery in your house!! Blessings to you on this new adventure.
Poor people who lived there at the end had a sad situation. I think the house yearns for a new chapter in its history. The sunken pantry on the North side of the building im guessing, is a natural fridge. Nice feature.
Yes, the natural fridge is at the north side of the building :-)
