I mean to them humans are just insects size-wise. It's like if you walk in a jungle, would you care about the lives of the hundreds if not thousands of insects you trampled? The only "brutal" part would be Starscream enjoying the carnage.
Starscream in TFA like most decepticons are leagues more powerful the the autobots as a group, yet they fail to do most anything. Of course, its because its a kids show. But starscream... in season 1 he really seems like a massive threat, able to actually achieve anything he wanted if he weren't his own worst enemy. If only he outright killed all the autobots instead of playing with his food like a child. Like, the man is impervious to most of their attacks, he's got aerial superiority, he can lift a damn train and fly it to the top of a tower, not to mention the dude is a fucking giant.

Truth be told, Starscream was my of my favorites as a kid because whenever I took a first glance at him, the cockpit on his chest made him look like he was wearing a necktie. I used to secretly whisper “He’s wearing a Decepticon Tie” Now, all these years later, I can honestly say this joker is my all-time favorite incarnation of Starscream
In most to all depictions, Starscream can be a pushover and a punching bag who has moments where he gets some weapon or power that makes him momentarily stupidly broken. In Animated, just in this season, he's an absolute MENACE. He's like an unstoppable force of nature who takes no bull from anyone (Megatron being a clear exception most of the time) and giggles knowing he ruined the lives of innocent people. He soars into the sky like some kind of doomsday weapon and scoffs at heroics. And why this is all so impressive is because this is Starscream unadulterated by outside powers, he's absolutely using his own skills, weapons and strategies. He threatened to destroy the city and terrorize the world himself, and I 100% believe he can. And this is only in this season, after he comes back in season 2, he proves far more competent at planning to destroy Megatron when he acquired the clones, not to mention the bombs, dear god was he dangerous with bombs.
@philipjohnston5822 in season 2, starscream made 2 proto clones of himself with bombs implanted in there chest. He tries to blow up megatron, and fails. But the autobots said the bombs were powerful enough to destroy half the city or something like that
So in TFA he mostly feels like the scout from TF2. mostly underestimating his enemies and ultimately failing many times to kill that one heavy / sentry.
I remember the first time I looked up the voice cast for this show and how I laughed so hard from finding out this version of Starscream and SpongeBob have the same voice actor. 🤣 But jokes aside, Tom Kenny did a really incredible job as Starscream.
I can imagine Starscream pulling a Glomgold at Megatron's 'funeral'. You can imagine the Cons' faces to him dressed in cape and crown and dancing like he's at a rave party! 😂😂😂
Starscream’s cockpit looks like tie Megatron calls him a colleague in 1 episode Starscream falls asleep during a “staff meeting” in 1 short. Conclusion: the deceptions are less war criminals & more of a working company
I just relized we see all the personality traits his clones have in the first episode. He sucks up to megatron, he lies to him, he thinks he superior, but his fear of megatron makes him respect him. Sycophancy, dishonesty, egoism, cowardice.
TFA Starscream has got to be one of, if not, the best incarnation of Starscream. G1 Starscream was continuously my favourite for how well he fit the powerful but incompetent role, but not only does this carry over to this Starscream, he also has the threatening ability and more power (though tbf, the Autobots are a much weaker force in TFA).
My personal favorite version of Starscream, was always rooting for him as a kid on this show and still do. Didn't know it was Tom Kenny until I was older but that just made it even better than ever.
Deranged. That's why Animated Starscream is among my favorite depictions of the character, something in Kenny's voice really brings out the derangedness in the character!
