I do love how this shows that, At least until Starscream got overconfident and closed into close range he could out fly and leverage his speed to actually hold his own vs Megatron at range. But it's his own hubris and delusions of grandeur that got him too close, because he can never match Megatron in raw power.
As a long time Starscream fan I love this so much.
It's hilarious other bots try to fight megatron up close when he can literally go one on one with a prime

Cruelty begets more cruelty. Starscream initially didnt want to hurt the bird, simply let it go. Then after being beaten and humiliated he turns that anger and hatred onto another helpless being. Love the subtle details like that in plots, thanks for making this!
Also the bird is a falcon and not a seabird, which means that Starscream must have taken it with him on the ship. It's _his_ bird.
He terrorizes the bird making it think he will kill it then satisfied he let's it go. Megatron does the same thing to Starscream.
@@jamesbullo you're right, I never saw that angle. From that point of view Megatron is arguably the more merciful one as he doesnt fire his cannon at the end but Starscream shoots the bird...

@@jamesbullo Exactly, that's the angle. Starscream sadistically enjoyed showing the bird that he could crush it any time then Megatron did the same to him. Starscream felt the bird was mocking him.
Love how Starscream toying with the bird by almost killing it is then mirrored by Megatron doing the same to screamer at the end
Love Megatron’s unique alt mode! I wish Hasbro would incorporate more new modes into the main cast like this as a way of them evolving to the present day.

Lets be honest. Starscream held his own decently well and I can respect that even if he got his ass kicked in the end
He would have won had he actually kept dogfighting Megatron, after all Starscream is an Eagle while Megatron chose to use a Nighthawk (which is an attack aircraft, ya know a plane that's geared for GROUND TARGETS not dogfighting) so on paper Starscream _should_ have had this in the bag even with Megatron having stealth.
@@kabob0077 true I think adding the fact that SS is a scientist, and has been in many battles his intellect should be shown more. It seems as his envy is always shown to be his down fall too much. Making it easy for Megatron to win even dumbing down Megatron's fighting strategy in the process.
Starscream was the 2nd best Seeker after Jetfire (Skyfire) and was known for his deception in combat. Megatron did not stood a chance in aerial combat.
The null ray should have shutdown Megatron even temporarily unless Starscream thought this mock battle didnt warrant his full blast which was a wrong way to think with Megatron involved where practice is life or death

With X-men 97’ being so amazing.. This should be recognized by all, and this is the style a of animation Transformers deserves. Absolutely stunning with the voice acting, action, music and art style❤

Starscream really is the whipping boy of Megatron.
This is absolutely beautiful. The coloring, the camera work, the voice work...perfection. I love how Megatron's G1 robot design incorporated the new vehicle mode parts without taking away from the classic look. I would sit and watch an entire series in this style.

The worst part they delete all the critical comments on their trailer videos and leave only the superficial comments praising their product for something dumb like "omgush they got the mcu voice actors" or "orion pax's face makes me soyface" or whatever.
Funny thing is, he missed the bird it seems. Kinda like he just didn't want it looking at him in that state, but didn't actually want to kill it. That touch gives this an A in my book. Brilliant.
At the beginning of the video it is seen that Starscream only wanted to scare the bird, he had no intention of killing it.
I want to believe that Starscream didn't actually kill the bird at the end and he simply fired his laser gun near it to scare it away, as a way of telling it to "go away, don't bother me!"
Amazing as always! I loved how Starscream easily outflies megatron in F-117 mode. The animation gave me some nice Macross vibes, loved it!

I definitely noticed Starscream going in Guardian Mode.
F-15 vs F-117 ? No competition, until Screamer f-ed up (as usual) and took it to robot mode and H-t-H...
Should have just stayed in his alt-mode and won by dogfighting Megatron, Megs chose a plane made for CAS and precision airstrikes while Screamer's a purpose-built air superiority fighter with a 104 to 0 Kill-Loss ratio, on paper even with stealth Megatron is simply outmatched... But this is Starscream we're talking about so of course he had to make what would have been a surefire win into a massive loss by choosing to not play to his strengths.
Starscream had a chance, he really did, but his arrogance matches his cowardice.

Also a good idea to have a Foxhound on standby in case the mission pulls a Magic Spear...
Oh and slightly off topic but I swear anytime I see the words "MISSION UPDATE" the sound from Ace Combat 4 plays in my head...
This is honestly one of the coolest fan animations i have ever seen and its now even better in glorious 4K. I honestly have not loved something Transformers related this much since Transformers Devestation all the way back in 2015. Incredible job.
Honestly, this would be the best introduction anyone could have to starscream and Megatron. Not only is it amazing in terms of style (music, animation, fight choreography), it shows off their character perfectly.
I had Skywarp as a kid in the 80s. He was my favorite. Awesome color scheme, especially 4 a Decepticon. mmmm, Purple flavor 💜

So in an aerial dogfight, Starscream wins against Megs. Starscream will always be my air-commander.

Possibly the most functional their working relationship has ever been.
That kick-backflip-missile combo was amazing! Kudos! Loved every minute of this! My only headscratcher here was the choice of Megatron's alt mode. An F-117? Yeah, it might match his sinister appearance but stealth is definitely not his style. If you're going to make Megs an aircraft, there is only one thing he could really be... An A-10 Warthog. Slow but powerful, an absolute unit of the air and a gun to match. Now there's an airframe worthy of the name Megatron. His bio card would read: "Peace through BRRRRRRRRRRRTT!!!" 😄
I would also have gone with A-10, Megatron is defined by always being a big gun.

Do you remember when the original one was uploaded? And what exactly are the differences, juat a change in resolution or there's some scene remade?
@@fabiomura08 Just a resolution increase. In the original, some of the more busier moments looked like they didn't render (no pun intended!) properly on the YT upload. Everything is exactly the same, otherwise.

I like the similarities between starscream and the bird and megatron and starscream! Both could’ve crushed the lesser, but spared them out of cruelty. Great touch !

Giving Starscream the respect he deserves. I’ve always thought he and megatron had an interesting dynamic rife with a ton of untapped potential for story telling. That and I’ve always liked starscream the best of all transformers. Skybound just completely wasted their version of him so this is some good food to wash the taste out.

Firstly, the animation on this was incredible. Secondly... who else immediately expected Starscream to crush the eagle?
This clip is awesome. I especially love how he got the characters' voices pretty close to the original G1 cartoon voice actors.
3:04 That shot of King Starscream will always give me chills. A perfect representation of Starscream's greatest desire: usurp Megatron and become the leader of the Decepticons.
This is such a classic starscream blunder. He does excel in certain areas, air fighting and his silver tongue, but he always overextends. he took the fight out of the air and fought megatron on his terms, in robot form, and he lost due to that. I knw, kind of stupid to analyze this, but it reminds me that i do this too. i don't keep to my area of competencies and it costs me too.

If I watch all of 87render’s 5:00 Transformers movies…one after the other, I am always 1000% MORE ENTERTAINED, even involuntarily smiling…than nearly 20 years of terrible terrible terrible movies.

Well you NAILED the characterization and relationship of G1 Sceamer and Meg for sure. Loved the bit at the end with Megatron's "mercy".

This animation deserves much more atention and recognition. The final product is absolutely magnificent, from the way the frames were glued together to the the models made in blender, the very smooth animation (I really love how the water and explosions were animated), music that fit perfectly over the respective moments in the animation and the voice acting and the dialogs and the writing.
I watched the credits to make sure that this is not an official animation because it looks like one, actually even better!
I can't even imagine how much passion and work you put into this project. This animation should soon pass the 1m views count and then even more and I hope it will cuz you deserve it.

Really love how the short displayed the best qualities of Starscream and Megatron, especially by making Starscream look pretty credible as a threat to Megatron while still making the latter come out on top. Very good storytelling!

This is perfect! You encapsulated the very essence of the source material from dialogue, voice acting, motion, action scenes, and overall feel. I loved every bit of it and Im not even much of a Transformers enthusiast.
This is an amazing reboot for a hose of us that grew up with the only true Transformers.

First: This animation is amazing. It's rare that everyone agrees in the comment section, but its true, you should hbe hired or just do your own series. Any company would be wise to recruit you.
Second: This fight went exactly as it would've in the actual story. Starscream is skilled and without question earns his title of Commander. The icing on the cake though is the point in your video at 3:03 where his crown flashes. That got me hyped. Poor lil birdie, lol.

I got a hybrid vibe of DBZ/Macross/Gundam Wing with a garnish of Ace Combat to top it off, and I like it. Everything was great from the direct references to the 1986 movie to the modernized animation put in beautiful retro format down to the music. Well done.

I just showed this to 7 six year old boys and they loved it. Hasbro could really capture the adult and kid fans if they would have a g1 cartoon again that adds to the existing mythos.
