Matt, this is very refreshing to hear, especially in a world that is constantly demanding MOAR. No is a beautiful word when you are busy doing what you are gifted at and therefore allow others to exercise their gifts.

This sermon is very relevant to me. I’m at a point in my life where God has told me to throw out my most precious cargo. It hurts more than anything I’ve experienced, but I’m glad God has answered my prayers for Him to give me direction. I have the problem of wanting to do everything and ending up doing nothing. I also have (had?) a huge pride problem my whole life. God had His ways of reminding me that I’m weak and finite. For me it wasn’t panic attacks, it was autistic meltdowns (for me, like panic attacks but rage and grief instead of anxiety). Thanks for being open about your panic attacks, this openness is very necessary in the church where often times anyone who has less than perfect mental health is discouraged, shamed, and blamed.

Pastor Matt, thank you for this teaching. I’m sorry that you experienced a panic attack recently while preaching. I too am a Pastor and I struggle with panic attacks and general anxiety and it can be very difficult at times, but like you, I turn to Scripture and find a sense of rest in the midst of anxiety.

Maybe your soteriology is the problem. If you believe and think that God is ontologically a torturer or abortionist then you will experience panic attacks.

Hey, buddy. I’ve not yet listened to this but I just want you to know you are appreciated. I love your channel and ministry. I appreciate your calm and collected approach. Although me may hold to a few slightly different positions I always value your insight- you’re one intelligent fellow. I love you, brother. God bless you!

Can you do another productivity video? Even if it’s just a repackaging of your older ones. Still impressed that you are a full time pastor with a successful RUclips channel, while also writing a bunch of books, contributing to blogs, and writing lectures for conferences and classrooms. Thanks for sharing!

In Calvinist/Reformed theology God is a mere computation. He cannot act according to Fatherly love because the decree formula is the prison by which he exists. In other words, he is a non-being being whose very existence is dependent, and is derived from, the antecedent decree. So in reality, the sovereign decree is the actual God of Calvinism and YHWH is only the vehicle by which the sovereign decree operates.

I just got a weird comment from someone who looks like you, and youtube says it's you, but when I click on it, it says the channel joined a month ago and has four subscribers. You might ve getting hacked or impersonated. I hope this helps.

I think this is a Sunday school class and many want to sit in the back (like the Baptist do).

God alone is eternal and infinite, creation is finite and inseparable from time, thus the gulf between God and creation is also infinite. The intellectual concept of infinity can be useful "in creation" particularly in mathematics. We can know what infinity is as a concept but a true comprehension of infinity is beyond our finite minds. I have spoken to Christians who violently oppose the concept of particular redemption arguing that such a thing would be unjust on God's part. My response is that ontologically I am finitely closer to a spec of dust than I am to God because both the dust and I are finite creations whereas the ontological gulf between God and I is infinite. If I were to draw five images, then elect to tear up two could those two accuse me of being unjust? I think not.
