By what means? Because He chose to save you and didn't give you a say so or because He died for you like He did all mankind and you're one who trusted Him as your Savior? Sounds like the former. Thank you for posting this Message, I have a greater appreciation of the Holiness of God. I realize I don' t know enough. I am so thankful for R.C. Sproul and his faithfulness to the expositing of God's Holy Word.
Every time I finish listening to one of Dr. Sproul's sermons, I feel like a man who has gorged himself on the entirety of the most succulent prime rib roast and who, consequently, cannot move afterward.

Faith in Christ is our ONLY Hope. I am so thankful for men like Dr. Sproul who preach Christ alone. I am so fortunate that God gave me the Grace to see my wickedness in the light of His Holiness and to be given the inestimable gift of faith is the sovereign atonement of Christ. Christ is Everything, and without him I am nothing.
"Put not your trust in Princes nor a SON OF MAN in whom there is NO SALVATION" Psalm 146:3.
You should put ALL hope, trust, love and worship with ALL your heart soul mind and strength in the Father YHWH and HIM ONLY shall you serve. Matthew 4:10 and 1st and greatest commandment. Jesus spoke FOR the Father as his voice in the earth, not of himself as he clearly stated. Worshipping a man as God Almighty is idolatry of the highest order. Deut 13.
The false doctrines of Rome led the whole church into the great lie and abomination we were specifically warned against.
"I even I am YHWH beside ME there is NO SAVIOR" Isaiah 43:11, there is NO OTHER, Isaiah 45:5-7.
Repent and return to the Father like Jesus taught us. (Prodigal Son Parable). Jesus is our brother not our creator.
I have heard this at least five times and it never gets old. Everyone should listen to it. My other favorite is The Rescuer by Voddie Baucham. I miss this great man of God who is making Jesus laugh. Unfortunately I took God's grace for granted for years until I finally fell while drunk and broke my neck. Thank the Lord I never fell through the slats and ended up in hell! And I can't imagine how God feels about today's man-centered concert " worship ".

Sproul was probably the best Christian philosopher of our time.
The problem with our culture is that so few people listened to this sermon...

I listen to this sermon over and over again. Reminds me that God is also a god of wrath which lots of pretending pastors does not preach. I fear God that is why I want to learn more about Him. Fear of God is the beginning of knowledge.

We must never ever feel entitled to grace but recognise it for what it is - undeserved!
Praise God for His mercy and for not giving us what we deserve.
As the Hebrews writer says, ‘let us lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despised the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God’!!

Thank s to Gods Grace and Jesus righteousness that covers us we should not fear death , our repentance has allowed our sins to be nailed on the cross and we have a clean slate with Jesus forgiveness and payment applied to us. We rest in Him .

I grew up in Enfield Connecticut. There is a simple, engraved stone marker next to the sidewalk on Enfield Street which marks the spot of Jonathan Edwards sermon...the church building no longer exists.

Church today no longer believes in the fear of God, they overemphasize the love of God there is a balance. not a Spirit of Fear but Reverence for who He is and His absolute holiness.
People who only emphasize the love of God have no perspective of salvation. Salvation is being saved from God's anger.
My concern was the humor in Rc's presentation when this video should be taken so seriously. Of all people in this generation I look up to this Giant of the faith. Oh, I love RC.

What a gift to yet learn from the Godly teachings of RC Sproul. I have never heard the death of Uzzah while steadying the Ark explained in such depth and background. My understanding of it and God's wrath has been further colored in.

I thank and praise God for the life of Dr. Sproul. Though he's no longer with us, his messages will live on and we will benefit from his knowledge, his teachings, and his love of our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ and the Father who so freely gave up his son to buy us back from the pit of hell that we all deserve. Thank you, Lord!
I miss him terribly being on this planet -- although I'm thankful he doesn't have to witness and warn us about all the up and coming compromising or down-right false teachers. I'm sure he would be heartbroken about some -- and righteously angry with others.

This isn’t a sermon, it’s a lecture, so I think it’s appropriate that I recognize Sproul’s wonderful public speaking. His jokes at the intro make these conferences so fun for people to attend. Couple that with his expository communication skills, make Sproul one of the greats, to be listed along with the likes of Hodges, Warfield and perhaps even Edwards.
Just before I read this I was wondering the difference between teaching and preaching or lecture and sermon and you're right. This is a teaching. A sermon admonishes the congregants and informs of sinfulness or holiness.
If you read the Old Testament and you find there a God you can’t recognize, than you can know for sure that you have been deceived about the character and nature of God.
God is the same: yesterday, today, and forever!
Amen. And when you look in the new testament mirror at yourself and do not see a reflection of JESUS, bow the knee in repentance .
