    Quick question, does poly fill work and if so, how does it help exactly.
    I just saw a video on yt and he was preaching that it was completely useless and a scam .

    • @210Designs
      @210Designs  3 года назад +1

      Yes, poly is very effective 💯 I’ve used it several times on builds. What it’s mainly used for is when you don’t quite enough internal airspace for subwoofer/speaker. What it does is slow the sound waves down inside the enclosure. Which gives the illusion the area is larger than it actually is. It can also be used in ported enclosures to help smooth-out the bass responses. *Just need to secure some chicken wire, in the inside of the port opening. This will stop the poly from coming out. It can also take away from the output of the subwoofer/speaker enclosure, if used when it’s already large enough. Causing it to bottom out or flutter. What we do is keep adding a little at a time until you get the sound/performance we want. Hope that helps 🤝

    So I have a fi car audio MT 12 inch and it's really heavy. What's a good way to mount it to the box? Type of screws or bolts with wood inserts?

    • @210Designs
      @210Designs  2 года назад +1

      Man….that’s a monster sub, I had to go look that one up. I’m not a fan of t-nuts myself and have probably used them once in all the builds I’ve done. Most mounting screw holes are so close the edge of the cutout hole, it doesn’t leave mush room for a solid bite with those. When I mount subs of that weight facing up (which a lot of manufacturers recommend) I just double baffle and use 2-1/2” #8 course drywall screws or something equivalent. When I mount them horizontally, like the one in this vid. I still double baffle and use the same screws. But I also add a support block, for the magnet to rest on. This eliminates the strain on the basket. *The main reason I see people using t-nuts or bolts to mount their subs, is because they are constantly removing the sub. So using them stops the weakening of the screw hole 👌🏽

    • @LILRESHW
      @LILRESHW 2 года назад +1

      @@210Designs this is why I'm going to attempt to build my own enclosure because most of them are horizontal and I need it to face up. But I'm putting in my 18 wheeler and don't have the room for q face up enclosure. I have 20x16 and height 46 inches... so I was going to risk it on a enclosure like this but with a good mounting plan... I really appreciate your help and response.

    • @210Designs
      @210Designs  2 года назад +1

      @@LILRESHW - That’s what’s up. Yea, in my opinion it’s better to go custom. Especially when box location and sub type are crucial. If you don’t have the room to face it up and decide to go forward facing….Just try and add the wooden magnet support and you’ll be just fine. *TIP: to insure you get the spacing right for the magnet support block. Leave the top piece off the box until last. Cut out your mounting hole and turn the box face up. Slide sub down into place and measure the magnet gapping. Remove the sub, secure your block I place and test fit the sub👌🏽 Be sure when your installing the sub permanently, do it this way too. Makes it easier, because of the sub weight. The magnet will slide down in front of the block. I’m getting more and more fellas in big rigs hitting up 🤙🏽 Y’all are the backbone for transporting goods homie 💯 Much respect! I got a w7 12 in a pro wedge box for a steal price . First time ever having a sealed box and the bass notes are tight, but I’m wondering if a custom ported box would be louder and get more bass out of the w7 ?

    • @210Designs
      @210Designs  2 года назад

      JL is my ultimate subwoofer choice 🙏🏽 They perform very well in sealed and ported enclosures. In my opinion, a custom box is the way to go. If your wanting to get as louder and lower, try a ported enclosure. Running off the same amp you have, you’ll almost double the output 👌🏽

    • @210Designs
      @210Designs  2 года назад

      @@keepitkosher8065 It can go either way bro. Going with a larger box, you can be louder on less power, but risk over excursion on rated rms power. I use fact recommended specs as a starting point for my builds. Then try shrinking or expanding it, based on how the enclose will fit in the vehicle. If you like that box design, I’d try shrinking it to maybe 2cf. Hope that helps bro 🤝
