Another really good episode, Its been a long time since I watched those movies. I loved watching The Road Warrior growing up. This show reminded me why I liked them. Thanks guys!
even though i live in the Uk the first time i saw mad max it was on video and was the dubbed US version, i didnt see the nondubbed version for a few years when it was shown as part of the wonderfull moviedrome series on bbc2
Brilliant to see you guys back, one of my fav youtube shows! The Road Warrior is brilliant. I enjoyed Beyond Thunderdome, but I feel it does retread ideas in the second movie. The first film is very strange and I can totally understand what Jeff says about watching them in reverse and Mad Max 1 being a disappointment because of this.
MAD MAX was dubbed. I remember seeing it in a drive in and wondering why it was dubbed when the words still kind of matched their mouths moving. I was like 13 so I didn't know about film marketing until later. THE ROAD WARRIOR was not dubbed in the theater release and it made it cooler because now you considered post apocalypse but not in the US. This made the story better. ROCKATANSKY.
Yep, the third is pretty sweet in its own right. I was very hesitant at first because the 2nd ended on such a high note. But "Beyond Thunderdome" is a very good caper/adventure flick with a more light hearted approach.
I've been watching your show for a bit over a year now and really enjoy it. This is one of my favorite trilogies. I was wondering if you were ever going to do a show on David Lynch or the Scream movies? Thanks and keep up the good work.
@cinefiles agreed. Carpenter all the way. although I am still partial to Assault on Precinct 13. its the film that made me want to be a film maker. I think half of Halloween's budget was used for the cameras and Steadicam, but they made the film. it really is a triumph of camera work
Glad to see some love for Thunderdome. People just rank on it without ever really going into detail. It IS a little more Hollywood, a little more clean...but it still retains that Mad Max feel. The accusations of it being too cutsie are overblown and unfair. Yea, it has a bit of unneeded comedy, but the entire point of the series is to be different, to give a unique experience film to film. The kids are not just played for awwws and oooos. The world building in Thunderdome is amazing and it's a very complete film on all fronts. I too would rather watch it than the first. For as tenacious as the first is, it's the most vague and rough film of the 4. It's very meandering and plodding.
I'd forgotten that 'The Road Warrior' (a.k.a. 'Mad Max 2') won the New York Film Critics' Best Foreign Language Film!!!!!!!! I don't think the 2nd film was dubbed in America. While it was good that the film got critical acknowledgement....did it have to be in THAT category. The Road Warrior does seem to be influenced by Nigel Kneale's final Quatermass story in 1979. The VHS release of Mad Max in Europe was the dubbed American print.
Bruce spence's autogyro pilot and the pilot in mad max 3 are different characters as the end monologuge of mad max 2 tell you that the auto gyro pilot takes over the leadership of the the group and the kids late takes over from him when he is an adult.
You guys just cannot compare the original MadMax and the sequels.. The 2nd movie is a great, action packed blockbuster with muscles, hornes, fights, etc.. BUT - the original movie is a masterpiece! The futuristic, a bit surreal feeling throughout the whole movie, the tragic when he looses his family, the dark vengeance feeling he gets, the unique world created around him - kinda modern 70s with some differences - very artistic and sensitive touch - something you don't feel in other two.
Just seen the 'Thunder Road' trailer and it looks very derivative of the 2nd film (at least that's what I interpreted it to be, with a similar element to the 3rd film thrown in). Could be wrong of course. The trailer might just have been edited to make it appear similar as part of 'marketing'.
I thought it rehashed many ideas from part 2, big masked bad guy, Bruce Spence played a pilot, methane drove the plot instead of gasoline, Iron bar was Wez, instead of one wild child they had a group of them, final action chase scene had a train instead of a semi truck.
This was the best film review show on RUclips. Such a shame they stopped. They deserved far more subscribers
STILL ARE
Eric is a BEAST...and i mean that in the best possible way...He should be a "Professional" Reviewer, he's definitely got the chops.
Probably THE most underrated trilogy of all time.
All three movies feel different and bring something unique.
Dont forget "What a puny plan" That line is really memorable for some reason.
Bet "Snappy Ass Guy" is a huge 90's movies fan. At least based on the way he dresses.

MAD MAX was the best movie ever made for $350,000 bucks!
Great film!

It's been a while! Damn good to see you guys again. Too bad i havent seen any of the Mad Max films.
Doesn't Max and the Bruce spence character share a look in Beyond thunderdome which suggests they know each other?

good to see you lads back in action.
before i even watch this episode i have to trash beyond thunderdome..SUX
the other two are classics.

Each one is great in it's on way. Great vid!
All Hail The Cinefiles!Welcome back!

My favorite one was Thunderdome.
"We want justice! We want thunderdome."

Mad Max beyond thunderdomw was the best of the bunch!
IT ROCKS!

@ 5:10 "This is not going well." Uh, yeah, I'd have to agree with you on that.
Bruce Spence was not the same character in the third. Truth. Yes.
Pappagallo thinks you're all honorable men.

i saw mad max and blade runner, i robot all in the same night
They start talking about the movie at about 3:10
It was dubbed in Holland.
@spectregoo Big Fan of Living Dead at Manchester Morgue. I wish we could discuss it, but I don't think we ever will.

Speaking of Mel Gibson, Do the Lethal Weapon films
its not "who rule bartertown" its "who run bartertown"
Blair Witch beats either. Highest profit to cost ratio everrrr
@MonsterMawd It's only one I truly love. The others have good moments, but are nowhere near the quality of the second entry.
Where can I buy this "Snappy Ass Guy" T shirt?
Respond to this video...great show as usual
I have not seen the third film is it worth it?
@BUDDY6414724297 I think Halloween might beat Mad Max if we're talking about budget.
I liked the dubbed version better for MAD MAX.
People don't believe in heroes anymore.......
@RASOOL28 i saw it and really enjoyed it

You're not wrong. Fury Road was like a coked-up Road Warrior, and it rocked!
Sequels blow. The original was the best.
HOW ABOUT ROMEROS TRILOGY???
Mad Max 3 I felt was ten times better then Mad Max 2. They didn't play it safe and rehash the last movie which is what we usually see.
I thought it rehashed many ideas from part 2, big masked bad guy, Bruce Spence played a pilot, methane drove the plot instead of gasoline, Iron bar was Wez, instead of one wild child they had a group of them, final action chase scene had a train instead of a semi truck.
I couldn't sit through 3 mins of them talking about nothing - and turned off - let me know if they ever talk about the film.
When gay Americans talk about Mad Max
beyond thunderdome is the worst of the entire series is more Lawrence of Arabia meet Peter pan than mad max !!!
Thunderdome wasn't that interesting, very commercial, clown
this isn't even about the series.........and im not in love with these guys as much as they are. poop
Can't stand these nerds
then just click onto a different video, dumb shit!.
