Why didn't this show get more popular? It is the best film review show on yourube. Maybe they needed a MSM media partner?? Some kind of promotion??/ Something anyways
But he also stated that he's not ashamed to be connected with it. The reason he refuses to be is because he feels the producers at 20th Century Fox did more of his job than he did, so they should get all the credit.
"Alien" also influences the great b-movie classic "Teror Within". I am not sure what is meant by the statement that the deleted caccoon scene in "Alien" pops up in "Aliens". If they're refering to Newt then it's not the same. The "Alien" scene shows humans turning into eggs, while in "Aliens" it's just Newt held in place for the face-hugger. Cameron's movie changed the creature's life-cycle into an insect-like one.
THE ALTERNATE IDEA FOR THE THIRD ALIEN. taking on the aliens on their homeworld. path A intro > "hey there's the homeworld down there" "okay, i see it, drop the nukes... now" > roll credits. path B intro > "hey, i got an idea lets land down there and take them on with bayonets!" "great idea!" > everyone dies > roll credits. path C intro > "hey we're trying to nuke the homeworld but this other alien race keeps blasting our carriers." "we're fucked, they have a keanu reeves!deploy end credits!"
what do you all think of the planned Alien prequel? For me, one way that could work is if there are no humans, Just the Space Jockey civilization and the Aliens. Maybe the latter can destroy the former. Hmm? But...that would mean no Ripley. And even though Sigourney Weaver has spent last decade distancing herself from that role, Fox and Ridley Scott might feel compelled to somehow include her in the prequel
Alan Dean Foster did the novelization for both Alien and Aliens, he's done alot of novelizations for movies over the years. Great episode you guys. Alien and Aliens rock, the rest dont compare. Mike's rant on why Alien 3 sucks was excellent. Really enjoyed this one.
Yes it was Alan dean foster who did all the alien novels, and finch was originally cast to play the Kane (not ash) character but during the first day of filming he became ill and discovered he had diabetes, (nothing to do with the makeup) and was replaced by john hurt, I believe you are confusing the fact that sigourney had an allergic reaction to the glycerin that the makeup dept was using to produce the look of sweat on her face, and/or cat hair from jones.
I'm not sure I'd go so far as "masterpiece", but it's a great film, especially the Assembly Cut. In some ways, I regard it as the true sequel to the original Alien, certainly in terms of tone and theme. Aliens is a fun diversion - an outstanding film in its own right - but it doesn't belong in the Alien universe created by Ridley Scott. David Fincher got that and gave us a great Alien movie.
Sshhiitt ! I forgot it was unrated and should have been a bannedX film. The scene with Newt on the slab was full nudity of a dead child. No one laffed then. It was NOT RIGHT
Thank you. I think this was a pretty good show for being an early one. I think AVP: Requiem has a couple of good moments, but is easily the worst shot movie I have ever seen. When I saw it in the theatre, I though the bulb on the projector was low. I later found out that wasn't the case.
I re-watched Alien 3 and the CG is horrendous. The closeup scenes are always very good but those computer effects from the early 90s are completely dated.
oh yeah, the humans and the Space Cowboy race joining forces to take out the xenomorphs was never going to happen, that's not the mood of this franchise. i just can't see marines and Space Cowboys sitting around a campfire roasting alien eggs and singing cumbaya. we would have pissed the new aliens off, almost certainly with the help of weyland yutani and the alien race would have stamped humanity out. so there that
Try to image what it was like in 1979 to be one of the first people to see ALIEN and to not know much about it before you watched it, the novelty of this film has been lost because it was ripped off SO MUCH!!!!!
I thought that the AVP's story line was jacked up. It makes no sense whatsoever. If you think about it in Predator it was in modern time as you call it. In Alien with the space ship it was stuck there it could not move. In AVP apparently it got of that planet somehow. Not to mention go back in time. Therefore it is a piece of crap.
ALIEN is the best of the four films. ALIENS is right up there with the greatest movies ever made, ALIEN 3 not so much. I will pretend a fourth film does not exist.
Alien Resurection isn't half as bad as these guys claim, neither is Alien 3. These guys had good things to say about that piece of shit Avatar and Prometheus both of which suck way more the third and fourth Alien films.
Anyone who likes "Alien^3" didn't read the comics. Such a good story in the books & the movie flagrantly defies them. Inside 1 minute of the film starting it was wrong. It came out at a time when it made no sense to me for storylines to deviate in anyway; but companies owning differing types of rights, money here, money there.... asshole-hollywood. Basically Newt, Hicks don't die right a-fucking-way. Jesus...so wrong. Just wrong. i can't believe I was tricked into going to see 'Alien Retardation' years later. 0_0 I'm ...WAS..a sucker.
Some of the rants on this video seem totally pointless. Like the endless complaining about the basketball scene in Resurrection. The swimming aliens were actually quite cool, you get demonstrated how the aliens can survive in any environment. Also the scene where the alien-human hybrid gets sucked in to space through the hole is terrible in a good way, you almost feel sad for the creature. And you complain that it had "boobs"??
“If you like Alien 3 I hope you die” Lol. We don’t get to hear opinions like that anymore. I thought it was terrible. I went back to it years later and tried to like it a little more. It was still bad
No! I have to agree. Alien 3 was absolute crap. It was the first movie ever i left feeling pissed off at the creators. The directors cut improves it by about 5% only. I was hoping that in Alien 4 Ripley would wake up and Alien 3 was all a bad dream but unfortunately it was just as bad! And please explain how the egg got on board the Sulaco. And how did the face hugger lay two eggs, one inside Ripley and one inside the dog/ox. it had been established that they only lay one egg then they drop off and die. So many plot holes that it insulted the intelligence of the audience. A truly awful movie!
At 1:58 and the reason no one can hear you scream in space is ?...........dramatic pause for effect ..Most people do believe that sound can be heard in space. This myth of sound in space, is spread mostly by Hollywood space movies and also by TV. Why do they do this? The reason why this is done is that, sound effects and music greatly enhance the psychological effects that movies have on an audience thus, making the movie a lot more interesting and entertaining
I saw a prerelease cut of Alien 3 as part of a promo junket. The crowd laffed through 69% of the scenes. Sorry, I meant GAFFAWED for the whole(hole) movie. Good Times.
Some movie series start good and go downhill (Superman) some alternate between good and bad (Star Trek) Some get better as they go along (Harry Potter) Some maintain their quality (LOTR) and some were just bad to begin with and should never have started in the first place (AvP). Just like the Superman films, after the first 2 Alien movies, they should have quit. Maybe sometime soon they will do a remake or a prequel, and then we can discuss these again.
and the guy on the right; "fuck"? and what sort of language would you be using in such a situation? "there's a giant lightning fast bug that likes to eat brains running around. Oh poopie!!" and the attempted rape of Ripley made her appear vulnerable, not tough. the mack character was dead well before the lead started pouring. you couldn't tell the prisoners apart because they were all bald... no. no sir. you have lost your opinion privileges.
if you guys had started out as drug dealers, you'd know the old adage "don't smoke from your own stash" i have no idea, none at all what you were thinking about alien 3. watch the movie again, except look at the images, their composition, and arrangement. and the score, oh god, the score. BTW the alien is reinvented in every movie. and bad dialogue, give us an example unless you're just sucking up to the big boys who hated it. they have their own reasons for hating it outside of quality.
having a hard time with terminology? i found this, hope you find it informative. brown-nose [broun-nohz] Show IPA verb, brown-nosed, brown-nos·ing, noun Slang . verb (used without object) 1. to curry favor; behave obsequiously. verb (used with object) 2. to seek favors from (a person) in an obsequious manner; fawn over.
@SuperHorrormovies Please note that "batter" is a semi-liquid mixture of one or more flours combined with liquids such as water, milk or eggs used to prepare various foods. I think you mean "better". If you're gonna troll, the least you can do is get words right.
@SuperHorrormovies Let them have there opinion. I dont mind Alien3 but i completly understand why they have bad feeling towards it. I have the same feelings about the Alien creature as they do. Stop complaining about there opinion.
Regarding Alien 3 you should check out the special features from the quadrilogy DVD. Which extensively shows Vincent Ward's original idea for the movie. This awesome futuristic middle evil, The Name of the Rose-ish setting. Not the industrial setting.
Bruce Dern wanted to play the part of Captain Dallas and so did Clint Eastwood. And Dern HATES Science fiction! HATES IT!!!!! But Burt Reynold didn't like the script and he said that he didn't want to be in it.
do you guys have a lot of shows that you taped years ago but have yet to post? I'd love to see 'em. I live in Oregon and can't see this on New York public access.
Godfather 2 is a good movie, thats it. But its no where near the best sequel ever made are you mad lol Empire Strikes Back is the best sequel ever made Aliens is a close second
@9mod9 They're entitled to their own opinion. You can't claim that your choice of films are universally accepted as the greatest. That's the beauty of films; They're subjective.
It's funny that mike says bad dialogue is when every other word is fuck, because he loves The Devil's Rejects and the dialogue is just as bad as in Alien 3.
Ripley is my hero. Sigourney Weaver thanked Dan O Bannon for writing the script say"Thank you for writing inteligent parts for women. In your script Ripley doesn't scream here head off and have her man come rescue her. She saves herself." and Dan said"Well she doesn't have much of a choice. All the men are dead at that point in the story. She is either going to save herself or she ain't getting saved."
I know plenty of girls in that Ripley's situation who would simply go into a corner somewhere and just scream their head off until the Alien finally came and got them.
For me Alien is the best one in the franchise by far, this is probably because I enjoy horror and thriller movies more than action, but Aliens is still a great film. I think these guys are a little harsh on Alien 3, while not in the same league as the first two, it's watch-able and has some interesting points and good scenes, I like it more than all the Alien based movies that follow, and that includes Prometheus. Aliens wasn't as good as Alien
Both are great, Alien is better.
definitely
cameron's work was stellar , but he could afford to be deliberate based on the fact the audience knew the xenomorph was in wait.
As Fincher says about Alien3: "No one hated it more than me; to this day, no one hates it more than me."
He's right because I love Alien 3. Personally I think that the "circle of life" scene is one of the most iconic moments in sci-fi film history.
But he also stated that he's not ashamed to be connected with it. The reason he refuses to be is because he feels the producers at 20th Century Fox did more of his job than he did, so they should get all the credit.

That guy is really proud of getting the film's tag-line wrong! For the record it was: "In space - no-one can hear you scream"

IN SPACE NO ONE CAN HEAR YOU SCREAM
Doug Trumbull was originally going to direct ALIEN.
We are not gonna review Silent Running. It's a decent film, but I'm so sick of hearing about it that I don't ever want to see it again.
great episode guys...
Alan Dean Foster did the novelization for both Alien and Aliens, he's done alot of novelizations for movies over the years.

Number of uses of the word ''Fuck'' in Goodfellas= 300 uses

"Kanes' Son"
I like the scene at the hospital with the pregnant woman. Predictable, but still sick!
Alien Resurrection should have never been made.
Thank you. I think this was a pretty good show for being an early one. I think AVP: Requiem has a couple of good moments, but is easily the worst shot movie I have ever seen. When I saw it in the theatre, I though the bulb on the projector was low. I later found out that wasn't the case.
Yea i can dig that but best sequel ever? Well, Godfather 2 obviously wasnt on their viewing list.
The only problem with Alien3 was the creature. The rest was fantastic.
BLUE THUNDER!
@SuperHorrormovies I never said it wasn't! Get your facts right!
The comments on here are f*cking hilarious!
I re-watched Alien 3 and the CG is horrendous. The closeup scenes are always very good but those computer effects from the early 90s are completely dated.

Godfather 2 gets my vote
Try to image what it was like in 1979 to be one of the first people to see ALIEN and to not know much about it before you watched it, the novelty of this film has been lost because it was ripped off SO MUCH!!!!!
This is an old episode. You can tell by the tacky set.

wrong, alien resurection takes place 200 years AFTER alien 3
Alien Resurection isn't half as bad as these guys claim, neither is Alien 3. These guys had good things to say about that piece of shit Avatar and Prometheus both of which suck way more the third and fourth Alien films.
Juan Ramirez Avatar RULED!!!
I thought Alien Vs. Predator was pretty good.
Why are there no women on this show? I think a female commentator could add so much more insight to this discussion.
@Brand0n4569
It's a prop.
Anyone who likes "Alien^3" didn't read the comics. Such a good story in the books & the movie flagrantly defies them. Inside 1 minute of the film starting it was wrong. Alien and Blade Runner are two of the dullest films I ever seen, they look good, got good stories, full of lore, but boring as hell, my opinion
your opinion is full of s***, my opinion ;))
Eddy Djebi did I hurt your feelings?
It was just a joke^^
THe novelist was ALAN DEAN FOSTER.
i really love alien 3
i believe its as good as the first two
but hey everyone has an opinion
so don't hate me for liking it because i don't
They should have stopped with ALIENS.
They should have quit while they were ahead.
“If you like Alien 3 I hope you die”
Lol. We don’t get to hear opinions like that anymore.
I thought it was terrible. I went back to it years later and tried to like it a little more. It was still bad
I guess you don't hear opinions like that too much because shit-for-brains critics like Michael Foltz don't get much air time these days.
No! I have to agree. Alien 3 was absolute crap. It was the first movie ever i left feeling pissed off at the creators. The directors cut improves it by about 5% only. It's funny that mike says bad dialogue is when every other word is fuck, because he loves The Devil's Rejects and the dialogue is just as bad as in Alien 3.
you're exemplary choice of the script's use of expletives explains NOTHING about the merits of its dialogue. Please Insert A Quarter To Try Again.
It may look like it is influenced by SHIVERS and TERROR FROM OUTER SPACE. But is was not drawing from those films. It was draw from NASA scenerios.
How about reviewing STAGECOACH, Jerimah Johnson, Shane, FROM DUSK TIL DAWN, 13 days in october, three days of the condor, time bandits, Inframan.
How about reviewing ZARDOZ, IDIOCRACY, AIRPLANE, THE POSTMAN, GANGS OF NEWYORK, 3:10 TO YUMA, ROMPER STOMPER, WHEN TRUIMPHETS FADE.
Alien 3 truly sucked ass. Killing Hicks and Newt was one of the most disappointing moments in film history. Unforgivable.
@SuperHorrormovies You are the moron! You can't even form a proper sentence!
The parts of Dallas, Parker, Brett and Lambert were written for the actors who played those parts.
Oh, and I subscribed.
And Oxygen carries sound waves...No Oxygen means no sound waves
@SuperHorrormovies Wow you'd almost think that y'know opinions are subjective and stuff.
Thank you. We taped so many shows that some fell threw the cracks. However, we hope to get to some of the good ones and post them for all to see.
Alien Resurrection is a joke of a movie, it's terrible. The AvP movies are also awful, particularly Requiem, can't even see what's going on in that movie. The thing that really bothers me across the films is the fact the time the facehuggers stay latched on, the incubation time and alien development time is so varied in each movie. And AVP pushes this to the extreme, the people are impregnated, after what seems like 15 minutes in the movie world time passes they hatch, and 15 minutes later they are fully grown adults.
@BUDDY6414724297
I fucking hate Bruce Dern - he sucks!
Also, making a female character the hero of the movie was pretty progressive for that era.
I don't think that black guy knew what was going on "i sat there like why did they make this... There was no reason for them to make this"
+John Barton I agree with him. It seemed like they were so desperate to put together some kind of sequel that by the time they'd assembled various bits and pieces it didn't add up to anything worthwhile, but they went ahead with it anyway due to sheer momentum. They really should have just looked at what they had and said "Nah. Let's not do it."
@SuperHorrormovies Get your story straight. It's thier opinion.
@tylermane77 I liked the film - warts and all.
It's better than the first - just like T2 is better than T1.
Did you know that ALIEN was the sequal to Silent Running?
Ripley was the only one to survive, believe it or not.
The author's name he was looking for was Alan D. Foster.
He's a good writer too.
2006? I guess this is an old video.
Cameron had done the original Terminator two years BEFORE Aliens, so NO Michael Foltz, he didn't "earn his stripes on Aliens." He had CLEARLY "earned his stripes" as a director in 1984 on TERMINATOR.
IN SPACE NO ONE CAN HEAR YOU SCREAM.
IN SPACE NO ONE CAN HEAR YOU SCREAM!
killed the cast and crew... NICE.
Where is the mustache? WTF Edwin?
The point of ALIEN was that the crew of the films was living in HELL! And once the Alien arrived, HELL just got a lot worse. And that predators strenghtens the herd, they get rid of the weak and the stupid.
And the tag line was mine. SHIVERS and IT had nothing to do with ALIEN.
Hopefully Neil Blomkamp's followup to ALIENS will live up to expectations. I'm glad ALIEN 3 & Ressurection are getting thrown in the trash. Still holding my reservations though.
Edwin is lame. Mike and Eric were the glue to the show. Jeff was Jeff! Lol
It took STAR WARS to get this movie made.
Clint Eastwood was going to play Captain Dallas back in 1973 but he backed out of it at the last minute.
Correction Winona Ryder could play a bad ass. Those who doubt me please watch Heathers. Especially the final scene outside the school.
