His mother had psychiatric problems during pregnancy & she was given psychotropic drugs WHILE pregnant). When the feelings to ki// began for Dahmer he stayed perpetually drunk. Who was going to help him? He would of been shunned if he shared what was going on with anyone. If he could’ve been properly psychiatrically treated, all these young men may be alive today. From a marketer's perspective, it might be wise for you not to insist too much on Todd Grande's case because downplaying competitors is a double-edged sword that tends to result in poor personal PR, for the detractor(s), in the long run (and possibly lead to pursuits).
Not a fan of Grande. But this guy is using Grande's name to get views and stats. He has done it too many times this click baiting. It's cheap and disgusting.
I would imagine that the use of both platforms, even as "competitors", is an excellent way to build a fan base for both. Now let's see what the good doctor (imagined or real) has to say.
2 года назад+4
@@cht2162 @A Psych For Sore Minds I'll assume that by "platform" you are referring to both channels. Quite honestly, my own reading of the academic literature would rather suggest sub-optimal results by using Dr. Das' current approach. Firstly, this kind of video tends to polarize hardcore fans (brand evangelists) on both sides (Marticotte et al., 2016). People who love Dr. Grande are likely to be outraged whereas those who already hate him might enjoy the Schadenfreude (malign pleasure to witness someone else misfortune). Secondly, a series of five studies suggest that controversy hurts the brand, in occurrence Dr. Das, significantly more among those against the stand than it increases the approbation among the believers (Mukherjee et Althuizen, 2020). Furthermore, consumers tend to expect more and more ethicality from brands (Das et al., 2019). Hence, I would expect that fair play would be important for most viewers, especially those with neutral feelings about both channels. Thirdly, Dr. Das could of course choose to build his brand upon correcting other doctors, but it is not what is recommended in the literature. For a human brand (Thomson, 2006), such as an influencer, it is recommended to build one's brand by interacting with the fans, being authentic, and making the fans feel competent. One of my professors, Amélie Guèvremont (2018), suggests that transparency (e.g. showing one's own vulnerability), virtuousness (pursuing nobility and high values), and proximity (positive interaction with the fans) are the pillar of a new brand (let's say influencer) to build an online community. Therefore, if I wanted to piggyback on Dr. Grande's channel, I'd rather choose to stimulate positive feelings since, as you mentioned, there's like to be some overlap among their fanbases. The best scenario for both, of course, would be for Dr. Das to seek to collaborate with Dr. Grande rather than engage in producing adversarial content. Conversely, if I was to choose the adversarial route, I would suggest going all the way and criticizing multiple channels rather than zooming in on Todd Grande's blunders. That being said, I am not sure I would like my name to be associated with some much negativity since I'd expect harsh retaliation and criticism in the long run...
11:56 I cannot tell you how insanely happy I am that you say this is not an excuse but an explanation. Thank you so much. So many people expect an excuse but don’t want an explanation. Thank you so much!
I've gotten irate on Dr. Grande's channel...lol. The retired FBI agent, John Douglas, once said, "garbage in, garbage out." Dr. Grande, in my opinion, does a superficial study on some cases when there is publicly available documents that would give a more accurate picture of a case. You're bound to come up with a misdiagnosis or incorrect assumption about guilt or innocence if your source material is inaccurate.
I think the critique is valid --- worthwhile in illuminating the `credentials' of a so-called psychologist and simultaneously explaining some of the major risk or precipitating factors of Dahmer's offending. This was done succinctly in a balanced and professional manner. I think you reached in few words a deep core of the nature of things critical to Dahmer, but known by Grande, which Grande overlooked. I believe that popular psychology (`pop psychology'?) can actually be dangerous as it misinforms the public. Thus, I support you in presenting this video to bring *clarity* .
Good video Dr D. I doubt Grande has ever been called as an expert witness in a trial involving psychiatric related criminality and this shows. You make a good point about the Swiss Cheese idea and how it explains the multi factorial nature as opposed to a singular factor. Grande doesn't seem to have any clinical theory background when it comes to understanding the rationale of mental health conditions. So I would ask, what exactly does he have?
@@APsychForSoreMinds I've watched dozens of Grande videos and then I stopped. I stopped for a reason. The reason was that I came to a similar conclusion as you have. I'd put Grande in to the "light entertainment" category as the guy doesn't have solid credentials. I don't take him seriously. Unfortunately, many lesser intellects do. Grande did do a superb video, to be fair, about IQ (intelligence quotient). As long as he sticks to videos like that. Great. Otherwise, his "non clinical, clinical diagnoses" aren't up to much. A question for you. What are your views on IQ? I'd be very interested in what a psychiatrist thinks about IQ measurement and its validity.
@@patrickbateman9197 I agree with everything you say. I used to watch all of Dr Grande’s videos and, cringey ‘jokes’ aside, I used to enjoy them. Love this video. The main problem is not just dr. Grande, most people seem to miss a lot regarding Dahmer. And i see a lot people beliving he was a gentle misunderstood soul thas had regrets about his crimes. Eye roll...
Came from DeadBug. A youtuber called Ana Psychology called "Doctor" Grande out a couple years ago saying he was a counsellor and was misleading his viewers because he has no education to make diagnosis
Fun fact. Dahmer was being taken from Portage Wisconsin where he was held to Milwaukee for testing. My grandfather stepped outside of the bank where he worked for his break and saw Dahmer being transported in a cop car and Dahmer saw him flipped him off😂😂😂
This was a great video. I'm fascinated that those disconnected from society are so narcissistic. Where does the narcissism stem from? OMG !! How many times will you use Dr.Grande's name as click bait for views, subscribers and other stats. Cheap and disgusting. Even his face is the thumbnail. Ugh. STOP CLICK BAITING shamelessly.
I agree with everything you've said except for the part (8:52) where you've said he killed his victims because he hated his homosexuality. There are multiple reasons why this is most likely not true. One, not all of his victims were gay, atleast 7 to 8 of his victims were straight men who only went to Dahmer's place for money. Second of all, JD himself has said he didn't care about his victim's sexual preference...his only intention was to find someone that fit his type. Most of his victims were gay because they were easier to lure in. The only doctor that testified in his trial saying that he killed gay men to somehow kill a part of himself was Doctor Palermo, and it's fair to say he isn't so reliable as there were a lot of inaccuracies and misinformation in his testimony. Dahmer himself wrote a letter to his lawyer, stating how displeased he was with that court appointed psychiatrist because he got some of the most well-known facts wrong.
Dr grande is off the mark in many of his analyses I’m no doctor but I don’t agree with everything he says sometimes it’s not always from a medical stand point but a political one and that’s why I’m not subscribed to him I feel he has an agenda.
@@HurricaneJD what agenda ? Nothing specific however I feel his agenda is to bring his own personal beliefs / feelings / politics into his content rather than do a fact for fact medical diagnosis…. Which isn’t what I’d go to a doctor for to watch their analysis from a clinical perspective.
Considering his daily plea for Patreon subcribers, I’d suggest that maybe that agenda is $$$? 😂 Also, he definitely appears to push a certain political narrative which often makes for quite biased analyses imo

Dr in America it is a major taboo to diagnose a patient you’ve never met. Not that the law would punish you but you can lose your licenses to practice and then everything else if things go badly wrong. The Dr might make that statement to protect himself.
As a fan of Dr Grande, I wanted to say a few things. First, I enjoy your show. Anyone with any sort of education knows exactly what kind of doctor he is. I’ve never been confused. If I want clinical expertise, I’ll watch your show. If I just want to be entertained, I’ll watch his show. Of course he’s wrong sometimes. You are wrong sometimes by virtue of being human. Sometimes his “comedy” is so bad it’s kind of good. Sometimes it’s tasteless and terrible. Making of limericks about triple murders or sexual assaults does not do Dr grande any favors. I saw Anna’s video a year ago and had mixed feelings. She made good points. It’s hard to shake the notion that she also went after him for attention. I can think of 100s of RUclipsrs who are terrible people and far more deserving of criticism but she, and you seem go after a big name to help your careers. You should do things to help you be successful, Mr Grande should be able to take some criticism. I look forward to seeing more of your stuff in the future.
Grande's videos are more satire. He's spoken before about comedy, humour and it's importance to his own health and wellbeing. The point of his videos are taking a very shallow but satirical look at "cases", hence "what could be happening in a situation like this". I'm surprised no one here can see that.
Wow, I did not know that Todd Grande wasn't qualified for what he speaks about, the guy definitely gives the impression that psychoanalysis is his field, naughty. I believe he is in a wheelchair so I have a lot of empathy for the guy, but he really should be honest about his skills.
I'm a wheelchair user that has watched Dr. Grande's videos for years until recently, and I've never noticed him use a wheelchair. But then he is always sitting still.
Thanks so much. I woild love to see a video on Eric Smith, child killer, recently released from prison. What happened in that child's mind? What went wrong?
I've not watched this yet but my answer is most likely. Given Dr Grande's history... Yeah... He is more likely to be wrong then correct but there might be the odd exception now and again.
Please make an analysis on a RUclipsr called Richard Grannon. He talks about CPTSD and bases a lot of his work of Pete Walkers book surviving to thriving.
In a nutshell, Jeffrey Dahmer was born that way. You don’t start killing people and cutting them up because your parents got divorced. Some of his childhood difficulties certainly didn’t help matters but millions of kids have similar backgrounds and don’t keep a severed head in the freezer.
Dr Grande hardly does any analysis whatsoever. He mostly give us a short version of the facts. Like other true crime channels. I subscribed to his channel for the analysis but hardly ever got one. That is why he can spew out that many videos; an easy google search will give you a short fact based background to the story
Grande also gets things profoundly wrong For example What he has to say in the first few minutes of the David Ike video is so historically wrong it becomes almost easier to accept David’s version of truth and reality than it does Grande’s and that’s saying something!!!!
Dr. Grande is wrong about everything .. and everyone! I unsubscribed from him about 2 years ago. He’s always claimed to be a Mental Health Counselor and Educator with a PhD. I am totally unconvinced, however, that he even has these qualifications and credentials. Honestly, the man can’t seem to get through a video without using his favourite word narcissist/narcissism. (Some counselor!) If he really were one, he'd be helping people with their problems like REAL counselors do! All HE does is gives an all-you-can-eat character assassination about whoever is on his hit list for the day. This, in turn, is complimented with his sarcastic & totally unfunny remarks, his victim blaming techniques and the (totally wrong!) judgements he passes on people. Honestly, I think he's probably going through a midlife crisis. He wouldn’t be too thrilled if someone gave him a taste of his own medicine, but in all fairness, I think that’s just what he needs!
I really thought he was a phycologist - makes a lot more sense about how many times i have disagreed strongly with this analysis hmm that isnt really cool imo
Dr. Grande is a poser. I believe he is licensed in the state of Delaware as a counselor of education and addiction and recovery. But his education is questionable at best. It appears that he got all his education, including his Ph.D which was from some online Christian college. Apparently he is licensed but not for diagnosing personality disorders and dark triad and other topics he discusses. I’ve noticed that in the past few months he’s playing attorney and mind reader. I mean he comes up with whole scenarios where not much about the crime in question. I love to watch his channel and mock him. He’s really a poser and now his offering legal opinions is extremely hysterical.
It sounds like Dr. Grande is an armchair professional. To be honest, I wouldn’t take much stock in a general psychiatrist who diagnoses depression in the suburbs either. If you need brain surgery you go to a neurosurgeon not a GP.
Not sure that we should be equating brain surgery and mental illnesses, in most cases these are very different areas of study and practice. And I'd still rather defer to a "psychiatrist in the suburbs" than someone who hasn't spent years studying and practicing in the field. In my experience, these professionals have helped many live better lives every day, I don't see any reason to belittle them.

He kind of repeated some of the things he said in that post in the one You’ve discussed here… Why he had to make another post on the subject, when there wasn’t much more he could Really discuss or add to leaves one scratching one’s head ( Unless he just wanted to jump on the bandwagon) …….. ⚛️☮️🌏

But when the two parter special on Dammer came down my feed I unsubscribed in shear disgust over his original premise

"I'm a licensed professional counselor of mental health, a licensed chemical dependency professional, and have a Ph.D. in counselor education"
Doc, is that a cactus in the background? You'll be getting some shelves and a few rolls of brick effect wallpaper next.
I’ve compassion for Dahmer, (does not mean I’m Ok with what he did by NO MEANS)! Everything I read about him he had problems from the get go.
It’s time we realistically address people who are plauged with such demons in order to slow down or stop such horrific acts from people suffering these types of severe mental illness/problems.
I pray for all who were harmed by him & all who may continue to suffer because of his actions.

From a marketer's perspective, it might be wise for you not to insist too much on Todd Grande's case because downplaying competitors is a double-edged sword that tends to result in poor personal PR, for the detractor(s), in the long run (and possibly lead to pursuits).
Nice call man
Not a fan of Grande.
That may be true in the real world but this is RUclips. RUclips has its own rules. You have to feed the gods of the algorithm!
11:56 I cannot tell you how insanely happy I am that you say this is not an excuse but an explanation. Thank you so much. So many people expect an excuse but don’t want an explanation. Thank you so much!
I love Dr Grande! Awww! I do think people often miss that Jeffrey’s dad is a real piece of work. Blames his mother for everything.
Jealousy is the tribute mediocrity pays to genius
I've gotten irate on Dr. Grande's channel...lol. The retired FBI agent, John Douglas, once said, "garbage in, garbage out." Dr. Grande, in my opinion, does a superficial study on some cases when there is publicly available documents that would give a more accurate picture of a case. You're bound to come up with a misdiagnosis or incorrect assumption about guilt or innocence if your source material is inaccurate.
Jeffrey dhamer while his crimes were absolutely horrific has fascinated many people.

I've watched dozens of Grande videos and then I stopped.
However, I can’t remember the last time I watched one. They’ve gone from informative (years ago!) to bandwagon-jumping, boring, repetitive and predictable.
@@PatsyCollyer Exactly the same for me. Early on they were interesting. Now he's churning out highly repetitive videos. All the same content.
He did one joke, which wasn't an actual joke and was more of a funny comment which I still think was clever.
Otherwise, you can take any of his new videos and just change the name of the subject with the latest thing and it will be the same video.
What Dr D hasn't mentioned. Grande has a nice sideline in being funded by viewers.
I can't remember the exact details as it was at the same time as I stopped watching him. Was something about "access to videos" (don't quote me!) for a monthly amount of $s.
No thanks.
He's become a bit of a money making opportunist, imo.

I think this is the first time I’ve heard you use the term, narcissism. It would be great to hear your thoughts about the behaviour and the personality disorder and the way society is veering!
Love your content. Thank you
Dr Grande’s Phd is from a religious school 🤦♀️
Thanks great video Dr.Das ❤
I checked your video list, but I’m curious to see what you have to say about Ted Bundy, including whether he was possibly Bipolar or had some form of DID. Also, would love to hear what you have to say about hybristophillia.
P.s. you’ve earned yourself a new subscriber. Love your videos! Keep it coming!
I doubt he was bipolar or had DID. I think he had a mixture of npd, bpd and psychopathic traits. Could be wrong tho
Thank you❤ I am amazed by your occupation&education, maybe in next life I’ll (try to) do it as well.
Your opinions are always very interesting(Dr.Grande max. effect on me is that his videos put me asleep) and I am glad I can learn something new with each videos+ your accent is incredible.
Btw you se Evan as a QuickSilver, I see him as Tate or Kai in AHS😅
Love this video. The main problem is not just dr. Grande, most people seem to miss a lot regarding Dahmer. And i see a lot people beliving he was a gentle misunderstood soul thas had regrets about his crimes. Eye roll...
Dr Grande’s video may not be for everyone but they are excellent to me
Came from DeadBug. A youtuber called Ana Psychology called "Doctor" Grande out a couple years ago saying he was a counsellor and was misleading his viewers because he has no education to make diagnosis
The problem is that Ana Psychology was very disdainful and showed big hate toward him.
Dr. Das is respectful.
His education and credentials are in his RUclips bio.
Fun fact. Dahmer was being taken from Portage Wisconsin where he was held to Milwaukee for testing. My grandfather stepped outside of the bank where he worked for his break and saw Dahmer being transported in a cop car and Dahmer saw him flipped him off😂😂😂
Great video!
I love Dr. Grande! Lol! I love Dr. Das! Very different personalities, but both very informative.
Can't be anything like as bad as Dr Das's psychoanalysis of Tommy Robinson!
This was a great video. I'm fascinated that those disconnected from society are so narcissistic. Where does the narcissism stem from? I don't think everyone disconnected is narcissistic but it's scary and ends badly for those that become narcissistic. Anyway on a different point, I'm looking forward to your analysis on Lucy Letby. What on earth was going on in her head? Only Sohom can give us some insight. Please tell us soon! Stay blessed buddy x
How could I stop myself from trying if someone can find that two parter episode in question please post a link because it appears to have vanished and I had nothing to do with it. So thank you for proving I’m not banned right out of gate for thinking psychiatry on this platform might not be all about serous consent?
OMG !! How many times will you use Dr.Grande's name as click bait for views, subscribers and other stats.
Cheap and disgusting.
Even his face is the thumbnail. Ugh.
STOP CLICK BAITING shamelessly.
Just one more time please
No mention of frontal brain injury?
Dr grande is off the mark in many of his analyses I’m no doctor but I don’t agree with everything he says sometimes it’s not always from a medical stand point but a political one and that’s why I’m not subscribed to him I feel he has an agenda.
If I may ask what agenda do you think he has? just asking
@@HurricaneJD Frustrated gardener.
Actually, I haven't watched his videos in a while. Is he still doing the plant thing?
@@HurricaneJD what agenda ? Nothing specific however I feel his agenda is to bring his own personal beliefs / feelings / politics into his content rather than do a fact for fact medical diagnosis…. Which isn’t what I’d go to a doctor for to watch their analysis from a clinical perspective.
Some things he probably gets wrong
Considering his daily plea for Patreon subcribers, I’d suggest that maybe that agenda is $$$? 😂
Also, he definitely appears to push a certain political narrative which often makes for quite biased analyses imo
Based on the last idea I posed that seemed to vanish for no obvious reason I’m aware of . Imagine how a disabled person would feel about never having an idea that’s worthy of discussing anywhere online so unless there’s a good reason not to clean out my playlists and start deciding useful apps from waste of time. I thought i had a comment with a different with a unique offbeat angle but it was to wrong somehow to stay up, I don’t think this platform is for me anymore thank you
Dr in America it is a major taboo to diagnose a patient you’ve never met. Not that the law would punish you but you can lose your licenses to practice and then everything else if things go badly wrong. The Dr might make that statement to protect himself.
No need to cancel Dr grande. He’s a good solid dude
Who gives a crap about a charlatan's "health and well-being"?
Dr. Grande is clear about his credentials and purpose. Sounds like you're trying to piggy back on his topics and popularity.
Totally.
Not once, he has done it many times as click bait and even use Grande's face as thumbnail.
Wow, I did not know that Todd Grande wasn't qualified for what he speaks about, the guy definitely gives the impression that psychoanalysis is his field, naughty.
I believe he is in a wheelchair so I have a lot of empathy for the guy, but he really should be honest about his skills.
Grande uses a wheelchair?
@@user-jc8py7dw7r Yes, apparently he is disabled.
I'm a wheelchair user that has watched Dr. Grande's videos for years until recently, and I've never noticed him use a wheelchair. But then he is always sitting still.
I read some of his commenters mention this and he put a like against some of the comments.
Grande's credentials and education are right there in his RUclips bio.
Ruh-Roh @Dr Das has beef 😝. All cool 😎👍👍👍
Meanwhile, Dr. Kirk Honda did a two-hour deep dive into Dahmer this week. 🤪
PLEEEEEASE do Ryan Upchurch!!!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 ✌🏼
Dr Grande's video just recited his Wikipedia page. I learnt nothing from it.
Dr Grande hardly does any analysis whatsoever. He mostly give us a short version of the facts. Like other true crime channels. I subscribed to his channel for the analysis but hardly ever got one. That is why he can spew out that many videos; an easy google search will give you a short fact based background to the story
Grande also gets things profoundly wrong
For example
What he has to say in the first few minutes of the David Ike video is so historically wrong it becomes almost easier to accept David’s version of truth and reality than it does Grande’s and that’s saying something!!!!
I also thought he was a psychiatrist or a psychologist!
All I’m really try to ask is why is Dahmer so important considering everything since?

Dr not so Grande Mmmm

The Dr(?) Grandie post You talk about in this post isn’t the only post Dr Grandie has made about Jeffrey Dharma. He did one in 2019 posted on 16th June. It’s entitled-: Was Jeffrey Dharma Borderline, Psychopathic, & Psychotic at the same time? He kind of repeated some of the things he said in that post in the one You’ve discussed here… Why he had to make another post on the subject, when there wasn’t much more he could Really discuss or add to leaves one scratching one’s head ( Unless he just wanted to jump on the bandwagon) …….. ⚛️☮️🌏
I thought the Dr in question was serious about psychiatry at first in terms of being a compassionate dr who possibly could possibly be suffering himself from some unnoticeable health issue so I thought wow a Dr who understands disabled people. But when the two parter special on Dammer came down my feed I unsubscribed in shear disgust over his original premise
But you're still saying "I think", "I believe". HOnestly, this is what is the problem with psychologists. You can always say "In my professional opinion,...." but we have absolutely no proof.
Tfw you're jealous and the only videos you get views on are ones where you're hating on Dr grande or talking about a high profile case. Also saying "hello cruel world" to your viewers is quite trashy and rude even if you think it makes you "quirky"
I just saw the title, I am no psychologist, but even I can see how wrong "Dr" Grande is. There are numerous videos of his that i disagreed with. His analysis is so basic and simple, I can't bear to even watch him anymore.. Anyway, I will settle down and watch your review and hopefully feel smug.

Grande's analyses tend to be so low level, and he goes for the low reaching fruit, so to speak. He has never remotely impressed me. Not impressed with his followers, either, since they tend to be as thoughtless as he is.
