Literally you’re the only one guiding me through this process because your vids are so easy to understand, if I ever get an award IM SHOUTING YOU OUT 🙌
Blind leading the blind here but I imagine "mastered" simply refers to "this is the file that will play when people search for the song", rather than literally one that went through the mastering proccess
hi I am planning on releasing music for a while now, and this is a really good help to me and others. I would like to say thankyou and I am grateful that I found this video, and I will stick around
Hey Dean! Thank you so much for this video, it’s been really helpful as I’ve wanted to release my debut album on Spotify for absolutely ages! Does Distrokid take the money from you straight away, or after the annual year?
Am so fired up after watching this video .. thanks much bro.. I really need an audience so I'll got go on multiple platforms I don't have much subscriber on RUclips
Thank you. I just have to make sure I’m aloud to and I’m pretty excited that it makes sense now. Now I can become an artist. But I wish I didn’t half to pay 20 dollars.
Hi Dean. Thank you for sharing! Is there a place where I could see if my song sounds like another song before I release it? To avoid accidental plagiarism.
Hey Jacob! Hmm I am not honestly sure :). I wouldn't worry too much about it unless you know of another song that is almost just like it... but that's just my thoughts on it! -Dean
hi dean i uploaded my dads first album as a surprise (i got permission from the other band mates) and i was just wondering how do i change the release date in spotify so it says 2014 instead of 2023
I have a question… you might think this is stupid, but if I get my music on Spotify and don’t pay after my year’s worth of posting music is up, will my music that’s already on Spotify get taken down on Spotify?
So when it comes to revenue, how does that work? Do these distribution apps collect revenue on behalf of artists and distribute it automatically, or do I need to sign up with each publisher in order to receive revenue from my work?
Helpful video, but I have a question, I want to post my remix songs (on my channel, you can have a look) but there are copyrights from others artists...Will I be able to put something like this on spotify like the songs on my channel?
Thank you for this video. Very helpful, instantly subscribed. I am about to put my music on Spotify for the first time (never thought I will be able to do that) so I really appreciate your help. Will check more videos of yours. Thank you!
Do I need to create Spotify, Apple Music etc artist pages and profile before I publish my songs? Otherwise how and where will my show up? What if someone else is using that same artist name as me?
Sir I’m grateful to this. I have some on Spotify as a small artist. My question pls is, how to I get my singles appear at the top of my RUclips channel? So anybody can quickly see them? Please I need your help.
I want to upload some tracks from a “garage band”that I was in. Some of them are not the best quality ie. not mixed. Will distrokid or Spotify not approve the upload for any of those reasons?
Hi Dean, if you had clicked you are not the writer or if you are releasing a cover song, what would happen next? Would it ask you to secure a mechanical license or would if provide that service for you or a link to apply for it?
So after I post my music, any income attributed to me releasing it will automatically be sent back to me right? I didn’t see you set up any type of finance arrangement to be sent back to you! And does distrokid license everything to, so I’d be the sole owner of whatever I put out all while receiving any financial benefits thereafter; yes?
so what if i making music for fun, but i don't want to make money with it. I just want it to be there on Spotify but i rather focus on building my youtube channel?
What if you are using a free beat but didn’t pay for it? Should you give the beat producer credit in the portion when it asks if you created the song ?
Hello, Dean. How about utilising those RUclips karaoke instrumentals? Can I use it to create cover music and then distribute it to streaming services like Spotify?
Hi. I was able to upload music to Spotify from my MacBook that it was not available on Spotify. I can see the songs I added to my playlist but I don't see the same songs I added when using Spotify in my Tesla. Is there a way to upload songs from my MacBook saved file and see it on Spotify from different devices such as Tesla, PC or Cellphone.
hi dean, this had been my passion for many years but I never started it because I never believed in myself :) but now I was able to buy all the equipments I need because I want to start believing in myself, I also play drums, guitar and keyboard and I wrote some songs before, Im also really struggling financially right now do you mind sharing how much money can you actually make as a beginner? because I'm planning to just focus on music for year 2024 instead of going back to school.. is it gonna be worth it dean?
like if your videos get 100,000 views/plays how much can you actually get from that, I want to pursue music not because of money but because it is really my passion but at the same time I'm too broke and hopeless, I'm just curious, just for a motivation :)
What if i used a beat with my own lyrics!! Slam poetry style lyrics i made and put on different cultural beats! What do i do in this case of the beat not being mine at all! Im not good at applying self taught knowledge to existence but i also dont know how to craft beats just lyrics!? I have the passion but idk where or why i get lost on what to ask or where to start and than i lose knowledge when ive made it so far enough and its fustrating because i feel like imma lose my gift and like i made raps for no reason at all when god had me feel something ya know!!?
Hey Billy! No sir I don't, not yet at least. I have had a lot of people ask me about that actually but so far (in 4 years of writing/producing/releasing) I haven't seen the need for it for an artist unless they are somewhat known, as they are millions of artists out there and the likelihood of a song getting stolen is very very low unless they already have a sizable audience and/or absolutely incredible songs (that are worth stealing). That said, others might have differing opinions on that and some just enjoy the security in copyrighting their songs. Hope that helps!
Literally you’re the only one guiding me through this process because your vids are so easy to understand, if I ever get an award IM SHOUTING YOU OUT 🙌

2 questions..(anyone can answer please)
1. Does your wav need to be 'mastered'? 2. How do u get your royalties? Great video. 😊

Blind leading the blind here but I imagine "mastered" simply refers to "this is the file that will play when people search for the song", rather than literally one that went through the mastering proccess
I'll never forget how i used GarageBand, all because of you, Dean! Miss you and I hope all is well!
Thanks man!! Literally the only guy who explained it properly!!
This single video helped me in ways I don't think you could understand, thank you. I hope any artist out there reading this is generally doing swell.
This video is amazing 🤩 you’ve described the process literally sooooo good. It’s soo easy to understand and I love that ✨🤩 thank you soo much
This has to be the best promo code deal EVER that you've got on your hands! I'm DEFINITELY using it when uploading my first music later on! 😄
this is the best guide by far
very helpful..thanks...getting ready to release album later on this year..
this is exactly why soundcloud is better for small producers, I have to PAY to upload a track? no thank you, literally ridiculous
Spotify has a limit on uploads, then they make you pay 🫠
Fr
Womp womp
It's called an investment
Fr just for it to probably get no views

Dang you have a lot of subscribers! Any tips on how to get people to hear your music?
Thank you so much! This is the best tutorial I've found on this subject.
Hey Dean! Thank you so much for this video, it’s been really helpful as I’ve wanted to release my debut album on Spotify for absolutely ages! Does Distrokid take the money from you straight away, or after the annual year?
Thank you so much you're the only one who helped me for real on how uploading my music in Spotify 🙏❤❤❤
Thnak you so much. All the other vids i seen on this stuff is so confusing. Nice simple straight to the point.
Am so fired up after watching this video .. thanks much bro.. I really need an audience so I'll got go on multiple platforms I don't have much subscriber on RUclips
Straightforward and helpful. Thank you!
Thanks for taking the time out to create and edit this informative video with the discount code and everything 🙂
You are amazing and such a great motivator and continually urging your followers to greater heights. Always look forward to your positive VIDS.
Thanks for the encouragement Frank, glad the content has been helpful! -Dean

Great video! Do you lose your rights for your songs?
hi dean i uploaded my dads first album as a surprise (i got permission from the other band mates) and i was just wondering how do i change the release date in spotify so it says 2014 instead of 2023
Thank you so much for this video, I've got my first ever track up there.👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
Thank you so much! Just what I needed!!! 😍
Do you need to copy write your songs first before distributing them? Any tips on that?
That background instrumental hits hard 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thank you Dean 👍
No problem Dennis!
What about mastering? Do you do that via a third party (eg LANDR) prior to uploading on Distrokid? Or do they do that for you?
if my music ever becomes famous i'll def thank u
and my parents for the money lol
Nice Video Dean💪🏾🙂

My question is can you change distributors after some time?? I've heard rumors you don't get paid properly sometimes from some of them
it's really work in the game, thx
Thank you,help me a lot😁
Great video...thanks...one question....after I do that can I still put my song on my RUclips page?
This is so helpful.thank you friend.👌🏽👍🏽

Dean, Amazing video. Does your masterclass offer a community where students can ask questions?
I just did an album and I’m wanting the proceeds to go to my church for my online ministry, do you know how that would work?
Will this make an account for you on every streaming app that you select?
thank you so much for sharing this!

Hey Edgar! You know, I can't say as I haven't released a cover song before! But it should give you instructions on how to do that.
@@thesongwritingstudio5783 You are right. I tried it on LANDR and it does set it up so you can pay a mechanical license. Thx
Hopefully it's all the same. I'd like to try and upload sometime in the next few months.

Pertinent question . Have you found some answer?
So if u wanna upload an album, and select like 10 songs. Do u put each file for each song in or does how that work?

Thank you for this. I only post my music on this channel and it barley gets any views. I need to get it out there and hopefully this helps.

Do you know if uploading is different for minors who write music?
What if I sampled a beat? is it still Ok to put it on Spotify for example or if I were to would I have to put the beat maker as a co artist?
Did you found any answer?
Does the Musician subscription charge you right away?

If i were to upload a Live recording of a band could I be copyrighted and sued ??
Super informative thank you
Thank you for this info
HI Dean, do you still have the 70% link thingy? I would like to be part of Distrokid by using your recommendation Link.
Can you use an MP3 file or does it HAVE to be WAV?
thanks, but why wouldnt you want your music to be on a specific platform? Whats the downside?
I basically turned down as soon as I heard that i need to pay ACTUAL money
you can’t spend $20 once a year? and don’t say no bc you can. for unlimited songs published i think it’s worth it
thanks for this video.
It starts on 0:50
When publishing on spotify does it show on your account?
I wish I could big one day but I don’t got money like that though but I’m still trying but I will never give up 💯🔥🤘🏼
I created a song with ai (I am not the singer) can it be distributed from distrokid?
thank you so much. you have great videos, love your advices.Im doing cover songs. :)
If i pay any distrobution company they best be uploading it like the next day or else what am i paying for?????
made my first song called loud dance of the mind
Is there any free ones per change or no
Is it convenient to pay for copyright for all my songs before uploading to spotify?
its probably a good idea to improve my music to a more decent level before doing this... right?
Thank You Sir God bless 🙏
Thanks I’m actually making songs but I want people to hear me so thx for this I will sub
i click on the link in the description and i have to pay $39.99/year...
So if i sampled some Audio from a movie will i get in trouble uploading it?
