    Awesome video! I have the same PPF on my vehicle! I will now apply the same coating on my PPF. This video answered all my questions regarding ceramic coating on top of XPEL.

    I just installed my first xpel ppf partial front protection on my s2000 last night. Took me about 12hrs as a beginner lol. Im not a expert with ceramic coating but I ended up get the xpel ceramic coating to be on the safe side.

      I am going to have some xpel on my s2000 too! Won't do it myself tho, I am concerned I won't do a good job... should cost about 2k to have it done. Front of the car, fenders, hood, mirrors.

  • @altillman1448
    @altillman1448 9 месяцев назад

    Xpel requires you use their products ONLY unless they dont have an offering in a category to keep your 10 yr. warranty intact. Rinseless wash followed by a topper at each biweekly/monthly service is their recommendation. Anything else used and your warranty thru them is potentially voidable and honored only now by the good graces of the installer who should have educated you on the products, maintenance process, and at the very lease annual rejuvination requirements to keep warranty intact.

    The film protects the car. Ceramic coat protects the film. What protects the ceramic coating? C'mon we NEED another layer of "something"!!

      Ceramic coating gets occasional toppers, which essentially protects and revitalizes it.

      @@HaiTran haha I meant it's funny that we protect the protection, like attaching a shield to the shield, but then that shield will also need a shield, so you need a ppfpf for the ppf and a ppfpfpf for the ppfpf and so on and so forth. :P

    • @HaiTran

      It just depends on how much someone cares about their investment. PPF by itself is likely enough for most people considering the turn around rate for car ownership but there’s always more that can be done. There is a point of diminished return but there are options.

      @@HaiTran To clarify what he meant and something that a lot of us are thinking is, 'what can we do so we don't have to go to such extremes to protect the protection?'
      It just seems odd that we put on the protection to prevent the work we have to go through to maintain or repair our paint, but then the protection requires more constant, albeit less severe upkeep. When you factor the two with time invested and money, it comes out about equal if not slightly more for the PPF for the same quality outcome.

    Does putting a coating on XPEL Ultimate hinder its self-healing abilities?

    • @HaiTran
      @HaiTran  3 года назад

      That’s more of a question for the manufacturer to get an accurate answer but I don’t think so considering that XPEL promotes their own branded ceramic coating to coat the film.

    • @TheTruth-qu4xx
      @TheTruth-qu4xx 2 года назад

      I also have wondered this since ceramic is also an insulator from heat... we've all seen the dumb torch and lighter fluid videos. It seems to me like a ceramic coating wouldn't be as flexible also hindering the self healing.

      I don't drive with the windows down so buffeting has never been a problem. Either way, I installed the fix awhile ago.

    how do you perform paint correction if you have alredy applied a film over the paint

    • @HaiTran
      @HaiTran  2 года назад +1

      The logical thing to do is to do all paint correction prior to applying the film since the film covers the paint.

    • @TheTruth-qu4xx
      @TheTruth-qu4xx 2 года назад

      You do not. You'd have to remove the film as first step in correcting the paint. Depending on what's wrong with your paint job, a lot of people go with wraps... there are so many spray on wraps nowadays that can make antique cars look like metal flake and candy finishes. I feel like the possibilities are endless in just removing and wrapping instead of really expensive body and paint work done correctly.

    • @HaiTran
      @HaiTran  3 года назад +1

      I suppose it can. Fastest way is to polish the film but there’s a risk of damaging the film. You can use chemicals to remove the coating but again you risk damaging the film. So unless you know what you’re doing, better to leave it alone.

      @HaiTran  3 года назад

      It’s not realistic to expect a surface to look exactly as it did prior to putting a satin film over it. Even with the clear film, it’s not like the surface looks exactly like paint. It looks like there’s a film there if you know what you’re looking at.
