Not bad, considering you were using gel as a tack solution. Next time use an alcohol/water mix to tack, you will find it install much easier. You would've had a lot less difficulty with those fender inserts and fender body line if you had started there. It's easier to line up the outside edges than trying to squish the film to fit somewhere in the middle. Good on you for getting on it even though you are out of practice, most are too scared to even try. And thanks for the tint tips, your videos are great.
With covexes and curves like on top of tacoma hoods, wait til last and use your hand to push hard and lay it down gradually. Follow your hand with a soft squeegee. Upwards.
Ppf is hard and time will build skill. If I were a customer I would have asked for a redu by the head lights. A few washes and it will start to build an edge that you can see. But good job brother, keep up the work
Yea just like tint, it's very much its own skill. Wish I had more consistent experience going into this situation. Shop literally handed me a kit and said do the best you can.
TintStuff do a lot of plotter cut ppf, black and white paint such a pain in the ass. As long as they didn’t rush it out, owners don’t usually realize the difficulties of clear bra film installations
All thise fingers can be stretched as you go. Main thing is make sure youre checking what the best way to stretch is at every tac point. You have to READ the stretches. every finger can be stretched to go away if done correctly
Reason those fingers wonr go away around your cent corner is because its not lined up and is overhanging so the water is just shooting right back in. If there was an edge it would just squeegee out.
Video randomly popped up on feed and interesting tack and start point that's for sure. Definitely wouldn't put this in the how to do clear bra category though.
Looks good but you think that edge will start to peel up after a few washes? Also does the squeegee leave scuff marks on the film at all? Last question: Do you own the shop?
Question, don't you need to apply more pressure with the squeegee to get all the solution out? It looks like your lightly going over the film. Great job.
Hi bud , I think your a badass doing tints , but for ppf your just doing all wrong , first , precut Kits are limited to wrap the edges and hard to stretch the best is work with custom pieces , second the solution , you don’t need all of that shit from xpel , all you need is softsoap hand soap antibacterial and regular tap water , and instead of hand sanitizer use 70% rubbing alcohol works the best if you use 70%tap water , and 30% alcohol, third , wrong squeegee, use 3m black rubber soft squeegee, the one you use will leave a lot of marks on the film , , fourth , you don’t need steamer if you just stretch good at the beginning, and you forgot the most important tip ! HEATGUN ALL EDGES TO AVOID PEELING, If you need more tips follow me on instagram geoproppf_chicago btw I suck doing tints ! 😁 good luck
Paint protection film. Lol. If your that worried buy it and look at it in the garage. Otherwise figure out Kitts paint and paint your car like that. It’s a car. Not importantly Life. And I love and have expensive cars. Just learned over time
can you buy paint protection film that isn't precut? I was thinking that would be something good to place on the front of a vehicle, especially the hood and maybe behind where the tires are and the lower part of the doors to protect against rocks and debris. The lower half of the vehicle seems to need it most.
What's the maintenance schedule like on stuff like this? Remove and replace every year, every other year? I see a lot of well-intentioned wraps and these protective films burnt on in the junk yards. If you let them go in the sun, does more harm than good.
Bad install man. You should have removed and applied it correctly, unless you didn't charge your customer. You should have lined up the headlight first, with an EVEN gap. Then tacked it and moved on to your fender corner or around the side scoop. You always have to make sure that gaps are even. While it may be hard to see the uneven gap around the headlight now, it WILL show in time, as the line will build up with dirt and it will show. Next time, take your time and have patience. PPF isn't hard, but it takes time.
Pre-cut kits don't hardly ever work for the windshield. I tried a number of different kinds of software and the patterns are almost always off. the sides and back are better depending on the software used.
That ZR1 is a monster.. It will smoke the new vette C8

gives me a greater appreciation for how challenging this work can be
Please post the bumper and hood if you can. You explained it better then the teachers I learned from
Mucho thanks, I have to do a very small custom xpel thing with a small cut-out, and feel more confident now with these tips.

Great video brother! 👍🏼👍🏼
And if you have an edge you can over hang from stretching so much let it and cut it later.

What a dumb fucking comment. this helps resale value, keeps your vehicle in good condition. It's called protecting your investment, get a clue.

what is the spray bottle and hose attachment you use? Seems a bit better than a typical spray bottle for tight areas and has more pressure
I'd ask you to redo that panel.
Çok teşekkür ederim çok detaylı

Can you do a precut front windshield tint installation?

Is it just as easy as window tint?
Just a ZR-1?? Really slumming it, man.
If you've seen his other vids--he does a lot of tongue in cheek humor. Good dude
As do I lol

Did you just downplay a zr1 for a measly c8? Dude! What’s wrong with you!??
Unfortunately it's just the ZR1???? I stop watching at that point.
That is not a $120k car
Just a ZR1 lol.
DO NOT DO THIS! I did this to my car and it messed up the paint.
This is a 3-5k$ job is not going to do nothing to the paint if install the correct way.
You probably use a les quality film, or solution.
It's just a ZR1 hahah
