Thanks to a viewer tip I was made aware that the issue has just been fixed for Blender 3.2 (like literally today). 3.2 is still in Beta though, so keep that in mind.
Thanks for discovering this! Definitely worth reporting it. All this time I was having to disable and re-enable the subdiv modifiers thinking that was the main problem
You may have just saved my sanity here. I’m dealing with a heavy scene file and it’s laggy as shit. The stats might actually be the issue… will have to test it later. Thanks for sharing!
My blender file was taking 30 seconds to save the file, despite having a realitivily low sized blend file... cant believe your trick worked out, and now it works normally 😅
I swear this happened to me and I was so confused, thanks for pointing this out, also it seems like this can be avoided by putting the subd modifier on top of the mirror for some reason, but obviously we don't want that
Another reason why I will never go back to blender. Cheap and developers dont take Graphics Detrimental Bugs seriously. Just keep overlapping problem after problem.
Custom theme. I usually share all my themes, scripts and other stuff but this one is pretty new so I haven't uploaded it yet. I will add a link to this video when I do.
Theme is on github (link in description). You can download the entire addon or download the theme only from the Resources>Themes directory. It's called "Candy Neutral"
@@ArmoredColony Thanks for letting me know and if I do have to ever use 3.1 at least I'll remember that u said that sometimes I have to use a lower version
There was a bug specific to 3.1 that would cause what you saw in the video. If 4.0 is randomly slow I suspect it's a completely new issue that has yet to be fixed by the devs.
god now im on 3.4 and ive noticed it is SUPER slow to recover after a render and after saving the image that i just rendered. some hangs are seriously like 5-10 minutes just sitting there after it saved the picture, dont know what it is, its not stacking RAM or anything its just dragging ass, kinda weird. will say render times are way down and it runs great in that respect, but everywhere else it is noticeably slower. killing me haha
@@herberttubera6996 unfortunately, I don't know the cause. If you're using blender 3.1 then I would recommend updating because they fix bugs overtime. 3.5 might run better.
I'm having an issue where there's a delay in selecting edges. I don't have statistics on but I had them on in the lower right corner and turned those off. But it didn't fix it. I have a multires modifier and turning that off didn't do anything either.
Because everything is actually triangles. That particular shader just let's you see them. I think there are other ways of rendering wireframes I just don't know them. I might have seen an addon for that.
honestly I'm having some sort of glitch right now where even on completely new projects with less than 50 tris the viewport freezes My graphics driver is up to date, my computer is decently powerful, my RAM usage is only 30%, and previously I've never had performance problems like this no clue what to do even weirder is that im on version 2.83... It should've gotten slower over time wtf
@@ArmoredColony I'll be trying the newest version, havent been any major problems with one of my other computers running 3.2, maybe the updated drivers were no longer compatable with that version of blender
ok very dumb but I've found out I didnt have bad framerates just that the scroll button on my mouse is going haywire Whenever it stopped orbiting it felt like it was freezing but in reality its the main thing you'll hold down instead of only needing 1 time clicks :/
My problem is, blender is smooth as fuck everywhere except when on the sides menu like the modifier section and all, the mouse start being really low framed laggy, even slightly duplicating herself in her path, but at the second i click in the viewport anywhere, BAM 100fps again
The first is how fast Blender is when it IS working for me lol. And I already had Statistics turned off. Now its barely crawling and I can't tell why. Blender sucks. Its almost too slow to even use.
@ArmoredColony I think like most software it was a good idea when it first came out... then update after update with bells and whistles packed into it mercilessly until now its a slow, overly complicated to learn bloated behemoth. Its all a racket anyway, they keep upgrading and you have to keep buying bigger computers with more memory. I wish they'd come out with a Blender Light, with just the basic common sense stuff and if they want it to also manage Moon landings now they can indulge to the hilt with their snail crawling Bloatware version, lol.

Yep, it is a bug. Tested and no such issue for me.
@@bzikarius - apparently it only affects 3.1 because of the GPU subdivision they added or something.
I was about to give up on blender but thanks to you I can now work on it without that annoying lag! I wish I could give you 1000 likes.

Same. Everytime I was like "oh no I forgot to disable the subDs" --_--
Ok, this just saved me from madness. Thanks for sharing!
damn! my project was choking and this did the trick. seems like you can have them in the lower bar with no problems. thanks for the tip!
This also applies to using scene statistics in the bottom status bar.
Dude , this is gonna help a lot 😃. This has been always a big issue
@@dhairyapatel5162 I think this might have just been an issue for 3.1, not sure.

I wondered why this was happening... I've just this second tested it and... ha ha... yeah you are right. Thanks. Glad you found the issue :)
:D
thank you so much! i was searching for the issue for 2 days!
How come you never updated blender?

This is an older version of Blender, they fixed this a while ago so don't get your hopes up.

THIS STILL WORKS ON BLENDER 4.1
XD
Great catch. Thanks for sharing
Glad it's already fixed for the next release.
thank you mate, it was not the statistics for me but yet the text info, they should fix this
I thought they already had

Maybe not having it at the bottom disables gpu subdivisions, which is there this bug lies.
That s some nasty bug . Well done Holmes ;)
Thanks, Jim
For a moment I was like "Fixing Blender performance issues, _basic parenting_. Yeah, makes sense." 🙃
Just tried it on my own scene and I get the exact same result! Nice find.
I'm both glad and sad It's not just me.

Ok, this explains a lot...
Thank you btw!
Yeh, just update to 3.2
It worked but not as well as your computer did Thanks I'm happy
Do you have similar tips to speed up compositor ? :D
Nuuu, I don't use it. But I'm sure other RUclips vids can help with that.
1.2 million vertices and you wonder why it's slow?
Clearly you have never used ZBrush. It was a bug they already fixed in the 3.2 Beta.
Thank you..friend...🫡
No problemo
Wait what, is this affecting all versions of 3.1? That's wild man.
Something to do with some new GPU subdivision they're doing in 3.1. It will be fixed for 3.2
Is this an issue in blender 3.2.1
No, they fixed it in 3.2. The issue only affected 3.1 it seems.
@@ArmoredColony Thanks for letting me know and if I do have to ever use 3.1 at least I'll remember that u said that sometimes I have to use a lower version
bro, mine had the the stats off since the beggining, so I've got no hope 💀. I also tried turning the other stuff off, but it's still a bit laggy

Blender is still slow as f**k in many other ways.
I looked at this, but for me statitics were already turned off when i had this issue. So there is also another problem im guessing.
