I adore you collection videos! My best find ever was from last year. I was in a thrift shop and they had an entire cabinet filled with Corde purses. I didn't have a lot of time or money, so I grabbed 3 at $15 each. A couple of months later, I came into a little money, and decided to go back to the shop, hoping against hope no one had snagged them. I went in, and the cabinet was empty. I asked a clerk, and she said, "oh those old bags? They're in the half-off area." I went in back, and they're they were, all piled into a bin. They were half-off, plus it was half-off purses day! So I ended up with about 15 Corde purses for about $3.75 each! Someone loved and collected them, and they were dumped at a thrift store because no one knew their value, and I feel like I was meant to find them and continue to be a caretaker for them. Now if I could just find a pools of light necklace in a charity shop, that's my white whale!
As someone who spent a decade or more buying 1928 brand costume jewelry, I like knowing others who appreciate the ~*drama*~ of costume pieces. My inner vampire is happy, and I really need to incorporate more of those pieces into my life 😊
Would really enjoy a styling vintage finds video! Crazy that they don't do as well. I guess your audience is split into a few camps; those here for the sewing, those here for the vintage, and those here for everything?
Yeah, I don't get that. Styling videos are so much fun to watch! And you can enjoy them, even if you don't sew or even wear vintage yourself. I don't. I mean, I do see, but just regular clothes (mostly repairs and alterations these days, if I'm honest), I just watch because I enjoy her esthetic and sense of humor.
You had me laughing at that oddly specific substitute teach reference and then knocked me over with the cursed necklace. I love your humor but today's episode is the funniest! Thank you, Bianca!
"Les Bernard was a jewelry manufacturing company founded in 1963 by Lester Joy and Bernard Shapiro . . .. The name they chose for their business combined elements of both men’s first names."
I made such a weird noise when you brought out the red and black plastiflex, MY GOD! Such a spectacularly tasteful and fun year of collecting. It's wonderful to see your style becoming even more distilled and confident. I will watch all the videos and livestreams you can think of and will ABSOLUTELY buy 3d printed Esposito plastiflex, Chartreuse please!!! Xxxx
Hi, Of course I want to see what else you picked up last year. Your taste is so good and what you look at is so interesting that I learn something new every time. I completely love your new silk scarf with the ginormous flowers on it. So my colors, and I'm so glad you found it. And those little evening bags. I'm still drooling over the jewelry, especially the large necklace. Please let me live vicariously through you and show your finds and how you would style them. Yours, Ann
I too am going for the eccentric queer substitute teacher esthetic, I've spent the evening sticking flower, butterfly and bee stickers all over my mobility scooter 😂😂 Edit: hell yesss to a velvet gown to go with your fabulous birthday present to yourself, your fellow grocery shoppers NEED to be graced with such an extravaganza Edit 2: we always dressed up for dinner Friday, Saturday and Sunday when I was growing up, 1,000/10 would recommend, it makes the meal feel so special, even if you're eating a very common meal
@@TheClosetHistorian Both my father and brother have informed me that they refuse to be seen with me when I'm on it, and I haven't even added the pinwheel and battery powered lights that I want to put on the basket 😂😂 life's too short not to bring yourself joy wherever possible, and in addition to the joy the stickers bring me, their playful disgust has me in tears of laughter! TL;DR add pretty stickers to everything, it makes life more fun
always fun to see your goodie collections! That necklace is wonderful, and can definitely be worn with every day clothes. If you are feeling fancy, then go for it!
I would love to see your vintage clothing video. I would love to see your silk scarf collection. I actually love to watch anything you want to show us!
Bianca, what about a "styling me made and thrift items" video so the algorithm knows you're sewing but the thrift enthusiasts can see your finds as well?
when i was in grade 4, we had some weird older queer art teacher lady who would come in occasionally and do crafts with us. at the time i just thought she was really fun. one craft i remember very well, was making earrings and brooches with her. we would take squares of some weird material, dip it in something, and layer them together to form shapes. they were VERY irridescent and shiny, exactly your style. i wish i could remember what material it was! anyway, love watching your fabulous finds!
I googled 3d printing and there are many many videos out there for every level of skill. Even if you don't plan to do the actual printing yourself it would be very educational just to watch a few of them. I plan to take a dive into the subject myself really soon. You've inspired me to at least learn more. There are very few objects I'd be interested in reproducing, but those bags are some of them. I very much hope you can figure this out. A video on the creation of one or more would be amazing.
I learn so. much from you! I never heard of Plastic Flex purses until I saw this video that you made of your vintage finds 2022! Thanks for teaching about various fashion. I love your You Tube channel.
most of the hard stuff in leather-goods is just card, composite card etc.. make one in a cheap vinyl or no stretch thick fabric. Bag line it, promise once you've done that you'll be comfortable making them in leather. use a walking foot if you can, if not tape the bottom of the foot with some teflon tape. you can just use copydex glue if you need to glue stuff down., no need for expensive leather cements. remember to use a nice quality gimp for any topstitching .
Oh my GAWD the NECKLACE!!!!! How?!!! I bow to it and give it worship. Please give us a haul for your vintage clothes!!!! I look forward to the scarves. You should do a whole ‘these are all the ways to style a scarf” part of a video. I used to do that when I sold accessories in the 1980’s and a huge dept store.
Bianca, those brooches, THAT NECKLACE!!!! And let’s not forget the scarves and purses!! But most of all your hilarious running comments!! This is why I so love watching your videos - I’m in the watch all videos from Bianca camp!
Having developed a fondness for scarves I realized I had acquired quite a few, not a bad thing, especially if they're vintage silk ones so I'd be down for watching a scarf collection video. I'd love a vintage thrift haul as well.
"Queer substitute art teacher who talks a lot about socialism, perhaps more than she should." She will be a very protected person on my Zombie Apocolypse Team And, heck, you could wear that rhinestone necklace backward and it would be stunning!
Yes, thrift haul. I collect vintage Vera Neumann scarves because I love them, but never know how to wear them. Your birthday necklace is wonderful. I kinda want to see it against ice blue, too. Most handbags use buckram, just like hats, for stiffening structure.
The black and red plasticflex omg!! Also yes please to a vintage clothing vest of 2022 video. These videos are my absolute favs. This was todays boost of serotonin for sure.
OMG 1940's Bark cloth ... Mom had some old drapes that looked much like your scarf. She re purporsed them into a slip cover for a roll away bed. I remember the back ground color was "maroon" and palm fronds were also present with large pinkish flowers... hibiscus? maybe? Love this video.
I ADORE your thrift and vintage haul videos. In fact, one of your finds inspired me to go hunting and I found…TWO plastic flex clutches in plastic strips😍! I had never seen one until I saw yours in rainbow strips and then went back and looked in my wards catalog. And after I saw yours, I found two last year one in all black and one in ivory… $35 or under each!! Thank you for all the fun last year!
THAT GREEN BAG!!!! Be still my heart! I am also a fiend for green. I came across my own lust-worthy green bag that has been on my "unicorn" list for some time - a green seed beaded Hattie Carnegie box purse (in pretty good condition only missing a few beads). Love the silver "space purse" & OMG - that red & black Plastiflex bag. I am so jealous! (The black & white Plastiflex was an excellent find). I also adore Plastiflex bags. I have a red bag with the same Plastiflex tiles as the black one you purchased. Thank you for sharing your vintage treasures with us! Great finds!
I am so glad to find your channel. I have inherited a whole lot of costume jewelery from the 30 through the 70s and have been trying to incorporate it into my wardrobe, and am loving it. You have great ideas for inspiration!
That rhinestone necklace is gorgeous, and so very you! It absolutely needs a midnight blue velvet dress, and perhaps even a display stand made from the leftovers? As for 'expensive': if you can afford it, and think the price is fair to you for the item you've bought, then it doesn't matter how much it cost. Fashion is clearly your creative happy place. It sounds like that necklace has given you $125 of joy already 💜
Such lovely choices you have made! I am quite sure that Les Bernard was meant to sound as French uppercrust as possible, and I am pretty sure they made at least one copper snake choker, with earrings to match, maybe even a bracelet. The copper looked more like old money on the tv screen and in glossy magazines.
A.) the vibes lately have been immaculate! B.) we want all the collection videos. We is me. I want all the collection videos. My brain crow wants to make happy noises at your brain crow for the shinies. C.) imagine, if you will, that ‘80s pewter foldy bag in a chartreuse. I scream and weep.
My thoughts in no particular order: Your pure and unbridled joy at having a cursed necklace made me smile. Yes, I would love to see a vintage clothing haul/look book. My best vintage find for the year is a reddish brown, black, and purple plaid women's suit jacket. It belonged to the mother of my mom's 90 year old neighbor and she thinks it's from the 40s or 50s. The label says Miron 100% Virgin Wool. If that means anything to anyone, please let me know. I kind of want to make a coordinating skirt (the one it came with is clearly not the original, as it feels like some sort of poly and looks like it was hacked together/altered by an inexperienced seamstress), but I don't know what style of skirt would be appropriate. I know the jacket means a lot to my mom's neighbor and I am incredibly honored that she gave it to me, so I would like to wear it how it was intended to be worn. Apparently I have become known as a raider of old people's closets in my mom's retirement community, because I have been gifted some interesting finds over the last few years.
MAKING BAGS - You can use stick-on or iron-on foam (?felt) to stiffen them. Like the stuff you stick under chair legs to stop them scratching the floor. There are certain brands that are basically the same thing.
As someone who has done just a little bit of 3d printing the design of tile for that black purse would be basically the easiest 3d printing project you could do. It would just take forever to print enough tiles to make a bag.
Oh yes Girl. Such a nice collection. I would love to see more of your collected items and how you combine this things. You´re taste ist awesome! Beautiful❣ Thank you so much❣❤❤
Oh yes! When you have your new place and invite guests for sewing and thrifting weekends, dressing to the nines for dinner will be mandatory. Probably following a theme, like space pirates with a love for metallic leather on Friday and rhinestones galore on Saturday or something. We will happily pay some pretty dollars for such a happening at Casa Bianca🥳🍾🤩🧵🪡👗 . Loved all your treasures !!!
@@TheClosetHistorian I've found that a mask can greatly help the introverted part of me. I feel I could even play on stage if I wore a mask. Maybe that's why the pandemic wasn't so horrible for me as it was for some folks. I still wear a mask where there are lots of people inside.
I was looking through my Frank Lloyd Wright book the other day, and I made the exact same connection as you, even before you mentioned it. Currently looking into how I can make my craftroom more in that sort of style. Veg-tan leather is fairly stiff, even thin, so I just choose the thickness of leather that gives me the right amount of rigidity for whatever project I'm working on. The fun thing about veg-tan is that it's extremely malable when wet, but holds it's shape perfectly once dry, so it's really easy to make shaped objects with. Contact cement is your best friend when working with leather. Just glue your thin fashion layer to your support layer, and it will act as one piece thereafter. A lot of leather retailers sell scrap bags of various leathers for fairly cheap. They're not great for bigger projects, but can be used for smaller purses, leather jewelery and such, and it's a good way to play around with different leathers to see what works best for your style of projects.
Card stock of a heavier weight is what you use inside that silver clutch also some thin foam or thin batting for a cushion feel. The card stock would be pieces with a space between abot an eighth or sixteenth to allow the bend without cracking. They also glue them down. It would be made similar to how menus or table stands for restaurants are made. Rayon type fabric for the lining that could be glued to inside. Hugs
That "cursed" or maybe haunted necklace is spectacular as well as that gold leafy 3 prong broach!! Perfect with your hair. Also that black silk floral scarf! Wow! Also the black tile bag looks like it would go amazing with that necklace!!!!
We’ll need to start wearing broaches again. Let’s start the trend and see how far we can take it! And yes to all the video ideas! The red purse…..chef’s kiss
the necklace is divine ❤❤❤ i'd enjoy watching a live with your clothes collections when find your gothic jewel box home, any live really but that would be fun :)
Stopped everything I was doing to admire your scarves. I didn't realize I'd be so drawn to the bold colors 😍 I love the shift in language from "when I finally saved up enough to move" to "when I move" over the years! I've been working toward the same goal and have been inching closer and closer. I'm so excited for you!
I realised I hadn't seen anything from you in a while and - my favourite! - being shown your new acquisitions 😸 Only noticed I had alerts setting wrong - could have sworn I had it set to "All". Well, it is now!
I love love love the necklace! I'm also a big fan of brooches as well. I have my own collection from my mom and grandma. Some are worth a lot and some are not, but my favorite isn't worth what it cost originally. I go by what sings to me not by who made it . I'm more fond of older styles than the newer remakes.
I was watching a RUclipsr's blog of a visit to Madagascar and saw the most amazing beetle and thought of you. The Madagascar Blue Jewel Beetle. OMG, it would make an amazing brooch!!!! My jaw dropped.
You absolutely make me laugh with your "vampire leanings" style LOL. I love Vamps too, my all-time favorite vampire film is Salem's Lot 1979! Your finds are great, I particularly loved the 40's inspired floral scarf and the black beaded 1950s purse. Your birthday necklace is epic! I would love to see your vintage clothing finds and also how you style them. Love your channel, you are very talented!
Oh my goodness, my mom gave me her Les Bernard silver necklace just like that for dress up stuff for my girls. I'm glad I held off giving it to them because I wanted to polish it first. I had no idea what it was, but I remember loving it as a kid. And that rhinestone necklace, oh my, that is magnificent.
The statement necklace could also work on a square cut black dress, really lean into the "No officer I didn't kill my spouse" vibe As for butterfly fabric, it's quilting fabric but "tiger fly by ruby star society" might be worth looking into.
You can use Decovil Heavy (Pellon 526) or 2 layers of Decovil Light (Pellon 525) for the stabilizer in the leather clutch. You will need a size 16 leather needle and a thicker topstitching thread. Some domestic machine users have to put a lighter weight thread in their bobbin. The leather may drag on the machine foot and a teflon foot or using tissue paper over the leather will help with that. There are lots of leather makers on youtube and several videos with tips on sewing leather on a domestic machine.
Thank you Jeannie! I'm sewing with a bit of leather for a jacket project currently, and it's going well so far! I'll be bag making in no time hopefully ✨

THAT NECKLACE. I love the thought process of "I want this because it looks like it's cursed." That's the aesthetic I'm generally after.

As someone who has done just a little bit of 3d printing the design of tile for that black purse would be basically the easiest 3d printing project you could do. It would just take forever to print enough tiles to make a bag.
Me, I have a hard time going home without vintage or antique mirrors... Have too many of those, but... Can't resist ☺
my god, that green faux leather handbag was TO DIE FOR
Oh yes Girl. Such a nice collection. I would love to see more of your collected items and how you combine this things. You´re taste ist awesome! Beautiful❣ Thank you so much❣❤❤
Thank you Paula!
hands up for vintage clothes thrift haul!!
That necklace is spectacular! So glad you spoiled yourself with it!
That dinner party would be even better with a murder. Real or fake, her choice.
@@Gothlite-i1l Ooh yes, perfect 🥂
If I were not an introvert afraid of humans 😂✨
I want all of your jewellery finds!!!
I’m dead! You have the best collections on RUclips sweetheart! Wow!
👌👌👌❤️
Thank you Jo!!
Yaay!!!! A video I can just sit back and enjoy without having to do something or bake something!!!! Fabulous!! xo Joanne
Always wonderful. Missing your clothes thrifting videos 🦋
Hugs
Yay for all the magpies!!!
That "cursed" or maybe haunted necklace is spectacular as well as that gold leafy 3 prong broach!! Perfect with your hair. Also that black silk floral scarf! Wow! Also the black tile bag looks like it would go amazing with that necklace!!!!
Yes! We all need a fabulous cursed necklace in our lives 😍
We’ll need to start wearing broaches again. Let’s start the trend and see how far we can take it! And yes to all the video ideas! The red purse…..chef’s kiss
I mean I do wear brooches ✨ No trend needed!
Yes more scarves! They are so pretty and I wish I had your luck finding them.
Thank you Elise!
Love any video you put out, just do what you like, I’ll watch 🧡
Thank you!!
Looooooooved this video!!!! Would love more of this sort, and also the styling kind you mentioned! Love hearing the shopping process recounted 🥺🥺🥺
Thank you!
the necklace is divine ❤❤❤ i'd enjoy watching a live with your clothes collections when find your gothic jewel box home, any live really but that would be fun :)
Stopped everything I was doing to admire your scarves. I didn't realize I'd be so drawn to the bold colors 😍
I love the shift in language from "when I finally saved up enough to move" to "when I move" over the years! I've been working toward the same goal and have been inching closer and closer. I'm so excited for you!
Thank you Rebecca! ❤️ I hope we both get great homes soon 😍✨
I continue to be utterly obsessed with the very specific way you do vintage. So beautiful, you are so good at curating things.
Thank you Lisa!!
I miss the collection videos and would love livestreams!
I was watching a RUclipsr's blog of a visit to Madagascar and saw the most amazing beetle and thought of you. The Madagascar Blue Jewel Beetle. OMG, it would make an amazing brooch!!!! My jaw dropped.
They are indeed very pretty!
I always love to see what you have acquired. You have such great taste. I'd love to see what vintage clothes you bought also.
Thank you Laurie!
Thank you Katharine!
That's a total dress up box treasure 😂✨
Yes we would like to see your modern scarves/accessories as well! And I feel strongly enough about it to make it its own comment.
Such beautiful accessories- especially the jewelry. Thanks for sharing
Thank you!
The statement necklace could also work on a square cut black dress, really lean into the "No officer I didn't kill my spouse" vibe
As for butterfly fabric, it's quilting fabric but "tiger fly by ruby star society" might be worth looking into.
Fabulous finds! I love the purses, but that necklace!! Swoon!!
