Yes, this is an extended edition to my 3 hour review from last year. This review contains several elements that were cut for time last time around, some more controversial elements that I'm sure I'll regret talking about, some things that have come up since last time, and some things that commenters had brought up that needed to be addressed. I also fixed some minor mistakes and cleaned up the voice over. Was the length necessary? Yes, because I'd rather make a 4 hour review for something I love rather than eleven 20 minute reviews for games I don't care about.

My headcanon has always been that young Dart was found by Master Tasman who took him to Seles so the boy would be safe and to train him. This explains how his mentor knew Dart's mission to kill the Monster. If he knew it all along, he would have been able to prepare the boy for the dangerous mission.

Favorite game ever. Only issues I had with it:
    1. Loading time!
    2. The power balance is poorly done for human vs dragoon form. As you state, late in the game it’s often much worse to be a dragoon, either an item use option or change back to human would really help, but they should be dealing way more damage in dragoon form.
    3. Shanas lack of additions

So, I watched your original about a year ago. And then I saw this one pop up on the field because I haven’t watched one of your videos in a while. And I listen to the entire thing again, it was just as awesome as I remember. It took me a day or so as I listen to it in between drives. But it was really really amazing to have a unseen and on physical connection with someone who care just as deeply about a game that I care about. Honestly this game created not only my childhood bye my expectations for a future games with stories. And weird way this game kind of jaded me. I was so damn good, only Skyrim has even come remotely close to living up to how much fun iVe had. And I think my favorite part, is when you touched on the end, where the glass was on the desk next to Lavitz Portrait. I actually didn’t know that. It did not click in my brain. I have been in this game at least 20 times in my life, maybe more and I’ve been playing literally since it’s launch week. And I never do that, as soon as I heard you say that to be honest I cried a little bit and I had to pull over. Just so damn sweet, and spent so long not knowing such an amazing fact about my favorite game.
So not only am I acting like a fruitcake about some bond with another human being I’ve never met, I just overly admired the amount of time you put into this, how it was very tasteful and the right amount of comedy with used. Sometimes it can be over done, that’s why I hate Marvel movies. So I want to say thank you, for making this, as it almost feels like he made it for me. I also want to congratulate you on how good and touching it was, and how hard you work. And I also want to say, please make more.
Eh what the hell, we should totally hang. JK? We can listen to metal(I think blind guardian /boltthrower/ Sonata Arctica go well with this game) all day and play

This game holds a special place for me as well. I always say this game turned from a casual young gamer into a hardcore gamer-for-life. I still go back every other year or so and play it again (probably at about 8-10 playthroughs at this point including earlier this year). I love almost everything about it and was my all time favorite game for a long time (only got passed up in the last couple years by Witcher 3).
I live in a smallish town in a rural county. My younger brother and I discovered this game as a demo at Walmart in 2000 and I instantly fell in love with it. Got it that Christmas and became a life-long fan. The only downside was my brother and I were essentially the only ones in town who knew of the game. And for the longest time, I knew practically no other fans of the game.
It's been nice to find other die-hard fans through videos like this, talking about their love for this game, warts and all. (Seriously though, I find it's quirky dialogue endearing but that 32 item limit can go straight to hell. That's my #1 fix for a remake.) This video perfectly encapsulated why I love this game. Thanks for making. I enjoyed it.

I wanna make note of something, Which has always made me wounder about the Moon Child, originally the intended soul of the Moon Child was not meant to be Melbu Frahma, but rather Shana. Who is probably the gentlest and mind kind soul in the game. Which makes me wounder if the Moon Child was not necessarily destruction. Our main source of information about the Moon Child is also Melbu Frahma... who is far from reliable. It's possible the Moon Child was meant to judge the world, which could mean destruction, or some kind of enlightenment. Thus the source of the two prophecies , with Melbu and the Winglies actions pretty much making their version of the prophecy a inevitable one.
Though it has been a while sense I played the game, so I could be forgetting something. Regardless, it's just a thought that occurs to me based on Shana's personality, I doubt it was the interpretation of the writers. There is an idea of a "Gentle Destroyer" in a lot of Japanese media...

Fun fact about Shana and her Dragoon Armor. Her armor is very different from Shirley and Miranda's who have similar armors and the same color scheme....but there is a story reason for that.
Shana is cheating with her status as the Moon Child to wield the White-Silver Dragoon spirit, which is why her armor is so different and has aqua blue accents for the armor and her wings are aqua blue and sea green.
It is also the reason why the White-Silver Dragoon Spirit jumps ship to Miranda so fast, because it never chose Shana, she unconsciously made the spirit work for her with her latent powers

So to start, very good video! Well worth the watch! There are a couple items I want to address.
You're not the first to not know how to pronounce Mille Seseau. While "seseau" is not a real French word, it follows French spelling rules and "mille" means "1000," so chances are it's "Meal Sess-oh." "Eau" means water, but it's probably coincidental since unless their intent was to call it "Thousand Their Water" and pronounce it "Meal Say-zoh." It would be a slop translation at best.
Rose's Additions and weaponry are a little less innuendo-driven than her animations. People generally accept that she uses "fencing swords," but this isn't strictly true. Her weaponry, including the Demon Stiletto, are best recognized as mostly daggers and shortswords, except the Flamberge, which is a 2-handed sword, but far from the only "flame blade" or wavy blade in general worldwide, with others including a perhaps more appropriate kris. A stiletto is a hard, short blade that's neither a dagger nor knife, more like a nail with a handle, that was used for a coup de grace, or basically a mercy killing of a fallen knight by stabbing him in the eye through his helmet visor. Whip Smack, in keeping with her actual weapon model, and Hard Blade after, is most likely in reference to Chinese hard whips, which are more or less batons that use ridges or spheres for additional striking and blocking power. They're a totally awesome weapon that are criminally underrepresented in media, often adorned with dragon heads where the handle connects to the business end, which is totally appropriate for the game as well. While some of this may fall to translation for what her weapon qualifies as, the intent is to convey that she's using her weaponry as a striking weapon for that hit, even though her technique otherwise does focus heavily on piercing.
That's all I've got, really. I never thought I'd sit through a darn near 4-hour video, but this was totally worth it!

I will always cherish this game as it was the first game I really fell in love with when I was in Jr high early 2000s. As I've grown older, I have only continued to appreciate the story of this game more and more. I love this story, as it flows from simply rescuing your close friend, to fighting in a war, and escalates all the way to stopping the end of the world. And while end of the world scenarios have been done a hundred times over, this games story has a uniqueness to it in its art style and world building that really make it stand out to me.

    About the housewife thing...
Anyone who thinks being a housewife or being a "good housewife" is a bad thing, has obviously never been a housewife.
Do you have any clue how hard that job is? It's not for the weak that's for sure. It's not for the dumb either. Here's a short list of just SOME of the things my wife does while I'm working 55-60 hours a week.
Kids. All day. Hope I don't have to expand on that, it's self explanatory.
    Cleaning.
    Bills
    Shopping
    Organizing
    Budgeting
    Planning
    Cooking
    Meal plan
Kids. I say it again cuz it's really an all day ordeal.
Cleaning. I say it again because once again, with kids, it's an all day ordeal
    Snow removal
Home repair. Sinks, water heater, stuff that can be done that are on the smaller side
    Appointments
I know I'm forgetting at least a dozen more things. But this list doesn't even include her own basic needs.
And before y'all get bent out of shape. Yes, of course I help her. If I'm not at work, I'm doing one or more of the things listed.
My only point, is that housewife is not some pity job given to the weak or useless or something. It's seriously exhausting, and I could not do it. I could tryz and I have, but what my wife does is absolutely amazing and inspiring

I 100 percent agree that a good way to remake LOD would be to do a combo game where you play as BOTH the current dragoons and the Dragon campaign dragoons. Being a HUGE fan of Legacy of Kain soul reaver, I would love for the quest lines to start very disconnected and for you to not even understand that you are playing in two different timelines. I always believed with a talented and creative writing staff you could make a double timeline game out of LOD be just as satisfying, if not more satisfying than the double timeline story telling of LoK SR

Once again absolutely fantastic. I'm going to retread a bit on my comment from your previous version of the review and talk about how you and I have virtually the same passion for our respective games.
For me, I feel almost exactly as you do with Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. The story, characters, graphics, music, gameplay, all the fidelity and finesse is there for me to enjoy. It's a game I love playing to 100% completion, going throughout every nook and cranny in Dracula's Castle and getting all the items and leveling up Alucard. The level of detail in the story, animations, graphics, etc always never cease to amaze me, and the intro even engages me every single time. Now compared to The Legend of Dragoon, Symphony I don't believe has nearly anywhere near as much depth as it obviously, BUT I still have the same love and passion for that game as you do with this. Every now and again I have an itch to play it from start to finish and still love it no matter how many times I play it. It's something I NEVER get tired of. And just like you, every time I read up on the game or play it once more, I'm always discovering new things whether it be items, details in the environment, and so on. The song that you had playing during your epilogue of the review even reminded me of "I Am the Wind" a little bit. Both games definitely have biblical themes tied to them, I mean Castlevania is all about demons and good versus evil so that's more of a no brainer.
Bottom line, both have a strong passionate fanbase behind them and both were clearly made with care and love from their respective developers. Throughout watching this review, I started to feel an itch to finally try out The Legend of Dragoon. I am not a fan of RPG, especially JRPGs whatsoever, unless you count Pokemon, but I am intrigued enough to play this once and for all. Plus owning a four disc game would go great with my PS1 collection. You've outdone yourself again, keep up the good content, you are one of the only good youtubers left that seems to give a shit about what they provide and not consumed by the drama around them. God bless you, and your channel!

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for this video. It, too has made me want to boot up LOD again on my PS5.
I still remember how hype I was when we defeated Lloyd for good for the first time. I was so excited thinking not only would we get to then use the Divine Dragon Spirit, but also be able to experience Lloyd as a playable character in the party. 😩
It was still cool to see Dart use it though after the Fire Spirit returned to his father towards the end of the game.
Also couldn’t agree more with how well this soundtrack was composed. The forbidden battle theme, #2 boss theme, and the major boss theme were hands down my favorite of all though. And Lloyd’s theme.

You say that by not using magic you’ll have more fun as of that’s a fact that everyone enjoys this game the same. I personally love stomping enemies into nothing with overpowered magic while seeing insane damage numbers pop up while still having tons of time to perfect and use additions so that may be rather presumptuous of you.

Shana/Miranda give her therapy ring and she heals herself.
I built my team around Dart, Rose, and Shana where additions are still the main part of my game play.
I think it's because I like having a pure healer on my team.
I really don't see how Shana/Miranda dies for you so quickly when for me AL and the old man always die while Shana/Miranda rarely dies.

It would have been amazing if you had an addition menu in combat so you could select the one you want and that each addition had a type of advantage to use, for example element type, recharges mp etc.
Btw Shana/Miranda’s dragoon was OP with ring that restored MP

Can you make another 3hr review of this game? This is the 3rd time I've watched this video and like, it's like listening to an interesting podcast that I could listen to forever. I loved this game even though I never got past the ghost ship as a kid, and when I fully beaten it when I was 18, I was in love with it.

Thank you so much for this review, I really enjoyed it :)
At 1:39:26 you talk about random encounters and how they change from place to place. I think the only place that comes to my mind where it is significantly lower is in Zenebatos. But are there other places confirmed lower encounter? I saw somewhere that you get 4x encounter rate when running downwards or left than when running forward or to the right. I tried it on my last playthrough, it seems accurate.
I also think the music soundtrack is something else entirely, it is extremely good and there is not a single track I dislike. But I will have to be honest when I say that your favourite is my least favourite from the game haha.
I think the boss themes are amazing, I think it is great that they have 3 battle themes instead of just 1 like certain ff games (hint hint). One thing though about the boss themes is that the bosses don't always match the boss themes. That's no fault of the soundtrack, but the gameplay itself. For example, boss theme is obviously suppposed to be the easier bosses and for the most part it is true. Second boss theme sounds more serious, and should be predisposed to tougher fights, particulary boss fights that are impactful on the story. For the most part it does.
The third boss fight sounds very serious and should only be used on the toughest bosses like the Faust. I think they use it too much in the game, and several of those bosses it is used on do not match the super epic theme it presents.
I think each overworld map theme is exellently composed, and when entering the world map in disc 2 you really feel like you have entered an entirely different zone. Same with disc 3 world map and disc 4 world map music.
My 3 favourite tracks from the game has to be:
    1. Boss theme 3 (Especially when the boss matches the theme for example when fighting Emperor Doel, The magician Faust and the Virages "if the Virages were more difficult that is")
    2. Ending theme
    3. Darts theme
There's so many honourable mentions in the soundtrack that nearly the entire soundtrack is an honourable mention :)

Necessity is the mother of invention. A world with magic would either only need technology to fill roles that the magic can't be used for or to make up for some kind of scarcity of magic.

I love how you came to your "optimal" team and it's Albert, Dart and Haschel. This is the team composition I have ALWAYS used. But I also grind out max lvl and max dragoon lvl.
Small tip on the final boss, if you use your Special Dragoon transformation right off the bat, you usually get most of your turns before he nerfs dragons. Maybe have one turn left on all characters. I can usually get through P1 and P2 pretty easily and then smash additions after that. Easy peasy.
