I was so happy to see you using my favorite Coliro Mica watercolors. The pigment (mica) is so vibrant, full of shine, and just gorgeous, if one likes metallics, and I do.
@@drawingsinadrawerIt appears their newest container looks different. Long, rather than square. I prefer the one I have, which is the same as yours. every week your genuineness, gentle music, and your STYLE of watercolor just amazes and delights me! I like learning about the different types of paper, and sketchbooks. Actually, because of your tutorials, my own sketches & drawings and colorings are showing SO much progress and new aliveness! Thank you for sharing!
Just came across your channel today, Fiona, and very much enjoyed this video. Have subscribed and will look be taking a look at your previous videos. Wishing you all the best 🤩💕
I love your work. The faces are so beautiful and you have a definite style. Great job. I am going to look at the sketchbook for watercolors. Thank you.
I so look forward to your video drops each week. Watching you paint in your unique style blows me away each time. I have been using the Baohong sketchbooks too, I purchased mine from Temu. ❤
I Love your art style! I'm so happy that I found your channel 🥰 Thank you for reviewing this sketchbook I've been tempted to get it but like you I prefer the portrait format more 😅
Hi Fiona, I just discovered from another artist (not sure if I can name her!) that Baohong and Meeden are the same paper! They are in process of re-branding to Meeden! Baohong paper is older stock! Never would have guessed…
Really??? I have never used Meeden paper, but I do have empty metal palettes. I often get the feelings things get created and then go through different brands with little tweaks. Just an impression. Thanks for the info, Karen! Fiona x
@@ruthmamo2733 Coliro Pearl Colors. They are hand made and I used to get them in individual pans on Etsy, I think. Now they have them on Amazon too. They are the BEST. I think I paid 33 euros for the box of six. Not cheap, but they are worth it!
Just discovered your channel :) Temu have Baohong - both sketchbooks and watercolour blocks and you can get them at some really good prices. Can I ask what white you use to do your highlights? thanks :)
Just found your channel! Those Potentate square sketchbooks are on Temu for a great price! I guess that because, like Baohong, they are made in China. I really like the Potentate but I wish it was bound instead. Oh well!
I know what you mean. I have just unwrapped them and I am hoping the sizing is good. Because I already know they are 100% cotton, the fact that they might not probably treated with sizing is my main worry. I have yet to try them and then I will be sending them out to two subscribers 😊
I use Baohong’s artist grade cold press & hot press paper after upgrading from Academy level paper and it’s wonderful. Honestly Baohong watercolour papers are easily accessible for us in Asia and way cheaper than Arches or Fabriano….yet to use Arches paper (I bought it yet to use it 😅) as I am enjoying Baohong papers too much… 😊
@@scrapstobeautybyzandra haha! Well spotted! I actually spilled a tube of sparkle over it at one point 🤣 I do have glittery paper too ( a few videos back, it’s by Paul Rubens) x
I once purchased Academy watercolour paper pad from Baohong on Temu. It is also 100% cotton. I used the inktense pencils on them and was really surprised about the paper in a good at. Would this be the same company?
I am a landscape artist and I also can't stand the landscape format 🤣🤣🤣. I have no idea who/why this is the format that is made the most. If a landscape artist wants to paint something in landscape format we just flip a regular portrait format over to the side and have landscape. It's that simple yet the manufacturers for whatever reason cannot figure this out. Every single person I know that paints landscapes prefers either square or portrait formats, but they are very hard to find in the less expensive/semi decent quality paper sketchbook ranges. Please, please, please manufacturers start making portrait format 100% cotton (for me cold press is gold) sketchbooks. Trust me, you will sell much more of them than in this weird format.
@@newtowatercolor I completely agree! At the moment I’m obsessed with the square format Etchr have! It reminds me of a picture book. I will also test the square ones I got sent and hope they are good quality 🤞🏻
@@newtowatercolor I seem to have put my comment attached to yours, 🤣 I'm sorry I also do landscapes and the thought of a line in the middle of a sketch bothers me no end.
