    Hello Lionel. It was a pleasure meeting you today and chatting with you at La Quinta. As I told you I started training and learning how to swim and training for a triathalon 4 months ago after coming back from a business trip with pneumonia. It was time for a change. Since then I only drink on special occasions and have been working towards the race tomorrow. Good luck tomorrow and see you at the finish line!

      @Tim O’Brien. I agree with what you are saying but your message is pretty heavy handed for the comment. What I’ve found about triathlon training and alcohol is that the times when I used to drink or be hungover I’m now training (mornings and evenings) so it doesn’t leave any time for drinking. Then when I do have time I find it’s just not worth it because of the way it hurts the body and mind. . I enjoy my days too much now to waste them on my nights.

    Watch tinkering with the grade on the treadmill - prolonged continuous use at grade can result in Achilles issues.

    • @krishartner2168
      @krishartner2168 4 года назад

      Leave at zero. The whole 1% thing is a complete wives tale. Yes, there is no wind resistance on a treadmill, but there are other things that make it harder - no cooling effect, no proprioceptive movement. Any continuous grade like that - especially if you’re 35+, can be risky on the rear lower leg. The whole Orange Theory all at grade thing - they should research what that’s doing to injury rates among non-young participants.

    Great Video Lionel, as always.
    Enjoy the race.
    Just wondering, would you not benefit from doing some of your swimming in your swim suit during the week before a competition in which you know you will use it ?
    I do find that my swimming differs a bit (with vs without) due to my “less free” shoulders and that I activate less my legs (thx neoprene for helping). Hence I feel it useful to swim with my suit for the start of my swimming trainings (also doing sprints and high end speed with it) during my taper week
    Tell me what you think about it :)

      hagakuru he is following what his coach sets
      A good coach will also factor in what works for the athlete
      Lionel has already said what sort of taper works so that’s what the coach went with
