This has to be one of the best disassembly videos ever made. Please show us more of these new edge GT engines, almost all of them are 20 years or older now!
I talked to the machine shop Friday and they said going to be starting on mine soon. Waiting on the rotating assembly last year put me so far at the bottom of the list but I'm close to the top again.
Man this was the best complete tear down video on the internet anywhere any platform. But now I beg you to do the second part of putting it back together por favor
Glad i found this channel i will be pulling my engine in a 2000 f150 and doing it myself its been parked for years it was my old truck i used years ago its been parked about 5 yrs
Im glad i found your channel. I just picked up a 02 mustang gt and this is great content to learn from! Keep up the great work! Cant wait for the next video.
Thank you so much for this video! About to rebuild my son's 4.6 and this has helped me tremendously. Will you be doing a video on putting it back together?
Yes sir I will. Still waiting on the h beam rods. I was told back in October that they would be here by the first of December and still nothing has showed up yet. I'm making a phone call today
Be mid or late June before the rotating assembly will ship out so my machine guy can bore the block. As soon as I get everything back I will start rebuilding.
I have watched the disassembly video multiple times. I am in the process of tooling up to do a rebuild on my own '03 Mustang 4.6 2v engine. I am hoping that there will be a step by step assembly video or videos. I find your videos super informative, keep up the good work !
thanks for these videos man very detailed. i'm about halfway through the video of the removal. I had longtubes installed by someone else so we'll see how that goes I do not want to remove the k member
The easiest way to get those mains out woulda been to partially pull the bolts out then sqeeze them together and then just kinda rock the main a little and pull it on out. That being said great video im looking at a gt they say needs a motor hopefully its not bc of a hole in the block or something crazy that would require finding a new engine instead of just rebuilding the one thats in it.
Would it be possible to give us a list of all the parts needed. That would be awesome. Im ready to rebuild and just waiting for the next video to start on mine
Using that three jaw puller on your harmonic damper is awful brave ! It doesn't take much to pull the outer ring off the inner hub, especially if it has a little age on it ! That rubber is just a interference fit, I'm pretty sure there is no adhesive in that joint.
If a 3 jaw puller pulls the outer ring off the harmonic damper then you are due for a new one anyway. It will only come apart if the rubber is dry rotted. That being said I will be putting a new one on mine anyway if I ever get my stuff back before old age sets in. Thanks for watching brother and God Bless 🙏
Are you going to do a video on reassembly? Also if I reuse my pistons how do I know what size to get because I am having the block cleaned and machined.
Yes waiting on the company to make my connecting rods. Ask your machine guy what he is going to do to it. You need to get factory pistons if he is just going to hone it but if you are going to bore you need to get the pistons first and bore to the piston size. Still waiting on my parts and my block is at the machine shop waiting on rotating assembly so he will know what size to bore. I ordered 20 over all forged
Any update on the rebuild? I'm thinking of doing the PI head swap on my nPI 4.6 block, this video was so nicely detailed even my adhd brain could follow along! Even if I start with an assembled rotating assembly the part about the cam chains, the timing and the heads will be relevant for what I'm doing. (I got two romeo engines, one npi and one PI so the swap and assembly should be as normal in my case)
Waiting on the company to make my connecting rods. Ordered all forged rotating assembly and apparently they have to make it. Crankshaft and pistons are done but connecting rods.........who knows?
Okay I have a serious question I have a 2000 mustang GT and it only has a loud knock like a rod knock when you give it some gas is it still worth rebuilding ?
Most likely you spun a bearing. Is it worth it? Yes it is in my opinion because you can't find another one for the price of a rebuild with low miles on a rebuild. The price of cars these days makes a old car with proper repairs worth gold.
@@isolateddieselperformance3261 Lol yea , it was a teachable moment for me and my wallet. I can say that the binding with the chains was so violent on the first attempted startup it snapped a valve with then stapled itself to one of the pistons.
I have a question. There is a braided ground cable in the back of the engine block more or less in the area of the passenger head area or just below the head. Where does this braided ground cable go mounted?
I’m considering upgrading my 4.6 Bullitt with forged rods and pistons but maybe not the crack as I just want it to hold up with the bolt on’s and maybe later a bolt on supercharger bringing it up to an estimate of up to 450 hp. Anyone have any thoughts and suggestions about this?
Won't need forged for regular bolt on but I recommend it for super charger. If you add bolt on's i would at least replace your head bolts with arp head studs.
The only difference i have ever seen is the intake manifold and tuning. Also some of the pullys for the belt have been different sizes but thats a cheap and easy swap
before messing with my motor further, it only turns over half way then it stops. I start half way on the other side then turn it clock wise an when I get about half way to the other side it stops an makes a click sound an turn over any further
Waiting on the company to make my connecting rods. Ordered all forged rotating assembly and apparently they have to make it. Crankshaft and pistons are done but connecting rods.........who knows?

I will when I get everything back from the machine shop. At this point I don't even have a ETA on that.
My thoughts exactly 👍🏼 great video!!
🤞 that a reassembly video will be coming out soon!!

I'm rebuilding my 04 gt after burning up tge head gaskets.
This video breakdown is 100/10.
Thank you, sir, for giving me confidence with the 4.6
Your welcome
most informative 4.6L breakdown i have seen impressive work
Thanks a million
Thank you Sir! ive never rebuilt an engine before i cant wait for part 2! as soon as your video series is complete ill start my rebuild
Awaiting the next video. Love your work.
Thanks! Still waiting on machine shop. It's way past ridiculous.
Glad i found this channel i will be pulling my engine in a 2000 f150 and doing it myself its been parked for years it was my old truck i used years ago its been parked about 5 yrs
Its pretty easy. Right tools and its a cake walk.
Way to go!! I’m doing a PI swap and wasn’t looking forward to it. But you gave me the confidence. Thanks man 👍
I hope you will continue filming this build. I plan to do mine soon and it has been one of the best tear downs bids on here.
Waiting on parts and the build will continue
Glad u decided to rebuild and the lighting in the shop looks sweet !
Thanks man! Rebuild is my best option. Can't wait to get the block and heads back.
I can tell by how he works dudes a great mechanic, nice calm condident and informational thank you
Thank you God Bless

Same exaxt question and looking forward to seeing it as Im in the process of rebuidling my 01 gt sitting in my driveway for 6 years now
New videos out , idk if you’ve finished the rebuild or not

Wow this looks so easy. Now I can save the money and buy the parts to build my own 2v.
Man this is perfect!!! Pulling my engine now and trying to decide how far I want to go as far as tare down. This definitely helps
Thanks brother! Glad it helps. I have a video on pulling the engine if you need a guide on that.

I'm learning about my Ford Mustang 2 valve and this video is awesome! Thank you so much. I'm a new follower.
Thanks man for the support.

Been lookin everywhere for a 4.6 disassembly video. About to rebuild my aluminum block 2v! Subscribed 💯😎
Thanks man

Glad you liked it. Thanks for watching
This is such a fantastically detailed video. Keep it up, you are going to blow up with views and subs.
Hope so if I ever get my stuff back from the machine shop.
AWESOME. I need to breakdown my 2010 GT and see what i need to fix
Thanks a bunch
hi, just wondering if you are going to do a rebuild video? This is a fabulous series so far. thanks.

Solid video brother. Love the blooper lol
Thanks man! Whats a movie without a blooper 😄
got one of these minty bastards in my 1998 crown vic, nice to see what a romeo 4.6 2v pi head looks like
Man great video! Make a reassembly one!
As soon as I get the block and heads back from the machine shop.
Great series, one question, what’s the reason for loosening the head bolts in reverse sequence?
To prevent wrapping the head.
How many miles did this motor have before you broke it down?
Nice video
very good information
Thanks
Are you going to be making another video on putting the engine together?
Yea its in the plans. Still waiting on machine shop.
I've seen so many mechanics reuse those bolts. And everywhere you read it says do not reuse!
Main cap bolts need to be replaced. Side bolts you can reuse. I don't reuse them but a lot of engine rebuilders do. Personal preference in my opinion
You make it look like you just walking in the park 😂
You should create a donation link for people you help out with these videos.

Where are you getting your parts for the build ??
I go through my guy at the machine shop.
Hey brother quick question for you. what size bolts did you use to put in the motor to mount it on the engine stand
It will be the same size as your transmission bolts.
This is very helpful god bless
May God bless you as well. Thanks for watching
Is this the same 4.6 found in 04-09 towncar, crown vic, and grand mar?
Should be but don't take my word for it.
Ok maybe I’ve missed it somewhere, what was wrong with the engine? Did it overheat? Was it a cracked head or block
Passenger cylinder head was wraped and the previous owner ran it hot cooking some of the rings.
What are the hollow studs called that hold the head gasket in place when he pulls it off?
Dowel pins

@@isolateddieselperformance3261 okay thank you so much
As for the gear that says front on it at 4:10 … it is VERY VERY important that you install that correctly after a rebuild …. Ask me how I know
I'm not going to ask. Bet you don't do that twice. We've all been there.
@@isolateddieselperformance3261 Lol yea , it was a teachable moment for me and my wallet. I can say that the binding with the chains was so violent on the first attempted startup it snapped a valve with then stapled itself to one of the pistons.
And thats why I didn't want to ask. I would thrown some stuff
Wheres the next video? I've been waiting
Not made it yet. Still waiting on machine shop. I'm to the point of going to pick my stuff up and take it somewhere else.
Update?? Or did you give up?
Is the bolts connecting the rod to the crank torque to yield?
Yes unless they are studs with nuts
I have a question. There is a braided ground cable in the back of the engine block more or less in the area of the passenger head area or just below the head. Where does this braided ground cable go mounted?
I have a video on pulling the engine out. If it exists it will be in the video because I show every step in my videos.

Rod? You mean valve? That's why I use camshaft holding tools.
What the name of that tool that holds the cam inplace when you take of the valve timing chain unit
