What an amazing vet staff you have, I am impressed that they went the extra mile and tracked Pillow down. Such amazing people you are, very compassionate, pro-active and highly skilled. xoxox
Our mini Schnauzer escaped our yard unsupervised, after a visitor had left the gate open. We only realized, when we got a call from our vet across the street, if we knew, where our dog was. Poor baby got hit by a faster than allowed going car. And the vet heard her cry, and went out to investigate, when our limping badly girl came towards the vet office. One of her nails was ripped and she had a tear in her lung. We were advised to put her into a very confined space for her lung to properly heal. Keeping our hyperactive, constantly moving girl calm was hard on us all. She healed properly and never left our property alone after this, and stopped doing, whatever she was doing, when she heard car engines revv up. She got to live happy almost 20 years, only being teased by our bunny who loved nibbling her toes until the dog got fed up and a game of chase ensued. They did not know, they were supposed hunter and prey, they were just friends who annoyed each other once in a while.
Must say if it had been my cat I would have been dashing off to the vet with it and not sending it off on its own! Glad others saw and reported the accident and also that the vets went out looking for it. Glad it is ok!
Yeah, but we don’t know what else she had going on - like maybe needing to pick up children, or be there when they got home from school. Maybe she had her own doctor appt to get to. We just can’t know. We do know she consented to treat her cat, and seemed very concerned about her… those are the important things!
Poor little kitty but a really lucky one for sure! Lucky for surviving her accident with only minimal internal injuries and, also, for having such a caring, top-notch veterinary team! Pillow is such a gorgeous cat too and what a perfect name!
The Response by the Choban Vets to the Cat being hit by a Car was Outstanding! We certainly see how Wonderful and thorough everyone was, ie in locating and examining the cat for injuries!😊 🐈😚🐈 Very Happy the Cat was not fatally injured, and is on the way to her Recovery!❤❤🐈🐈🐈😍
I’m glad she recovered, what a beautiful cat. I hope the owners keep her indoors from now on and/or monitor any outside time. Keep your cats inside so they stay safe!
That cat is STUNNINGLYbeautiful❤ No cat benefits being outside, period. I know it’s giving them Freedom but when ur cat disappears, then u Know u should’ve kept them INSIDE🎉😊
Well done! Scott so happy you are still on RUclips. May your content deepen and lengthen. Food for a Coton puppy in the spring . I really want to feed her with healthy fresh foods that I can make at Home . I am sure there are so many people with dogs and cats that need this guidance. Are there charts for nutritions needs for animals?
Whew! So happy for Pillow & her people that you all took such great care of her. I knew cats hide their illnesses, but didn't know why. Thanks Dr Claire for the education re: what can be hidden when a cat gets hit & "seems fine." Nate jumped right into his caring SuperNurse groove, w/out missing a beat. Hope the dog did well, too, Dr. Scott!
Really glad it was a good outcome for lovely Pillow 🐈❤. Claire and Nathan did a great job trying everywhere to find it so they could treat it 👨⚕️👏🏻🐈❤️
Oh I’m so glad the staff are okay being filmed even when you’re not there, keeping us caught up with what is going on at the clinic. Do you have two camera crews yet, or will this just be what we see when you’re off on your other filming commitments?
The owner sure didn't seem bothered that her cat had been hit by a car. You could tell the vet was really having to talk her into letting the cat get looked at. Very odd.
No, I don’t think so - she’s cuddling the cat, and looks close to tears right before they put the cat in the carrier. I think she was probably just in a little bit of shock, too. If she really wasn’t bothered, she wouldn’t have let them in and film, or take the cat. (It’s also very possible that they spoke with the owner and checked the cat before asking if they could film, and the owner just isn’t a very good actress!)
Beautiful blue points on that lovely cat! Now, if only her owner will learn from this and keep the cat safe! Train the cat to walk in a harness andtakeherforwalks, build a safe catio for her if you can afford it, and don't let her roam. It's just too dangerous out there for pets!
My cats have never been outside cats. In fact, if you adopt a cat from the Humane Society here in the United States, you sign a paper stating that the animal will be kept inside. So glad beautiful Pillow is going to be fine.
I live in the Netherlands on a very busy road and there are very many cats 🐈 in my neighborhood but most of the cats cross the street late at night when there’s not so much traffic.
My cat Sox is now 14+. For most of his life, he only ever went out on a harness. He was never interested in going past the property but loved spending time on the grass. We created a catrun for him and his younger siblings. We now have 6 foot high Colourbond metal fences enclosing the back yard. While we don't trust the youngsters out of the catrun, we know that Sox will not leave the back yard and he now has a bigger place to explore.
A number of animal charities that rehome cats won't let them go to ones where they don't or won't have access to a garden or outdoors. My cats have always chosen to go outside as and when they want to, when I had five cats, there would be a changeover in the morning. Those ghat were indoors overnight went out and those that had been out hunting overnight came in to sleep during the day. Now I just feed the ferals everyday, they have all been neutered which was done in conjunction with Mayhew Animal Home a few years ago.
Wow, I can't imagine a vet practice in the US going out to find a cat or any pet! The vets I know would wait for the owner to bring the pet to their clinic.
The vets I have interacted with (in the US) are very kind, generous animal people who would probably do this if they were asked to /had time to (finding a cat is more of an animal control issue) (though very few vets have the luxury to do house calls, there is a massive vet shortage in the US) ....
I am against pet owners adopting cats, when they live close to main roads. I live a good hundred yards from the nearest road, so i know that my cats are relatively safe. They are predominantly house cats too.
It's quite bizarre, I know it's common in the US to have entirely indoor cats but in the UK letting cats roam outdoors is normal. I remember mentioning the concept of keeping indoor cats to my mum and she felt keeping them indoors at all times was unethical. And in a way I got her point, cats love to roam and explore for hours. Which is a lot harder to recreate indoors, even with secure outdoor areas. I guess as you say, it entirely depends on how busy an area is. As living beside the road in a rural area is very different to living beside one in the city or even on a motorway etc.
Keep cats inside and they won't get hurt. I know a lot of people think it's ok for a cat to be outside but think of all of the dangers. Getting hit by a car or attacked by something, depending on where you live, like a dog even a coyote or, a snake for instance.. Even dogs aren't safe especially little dogs. Big dogs can be hit by a car.. It's better to be safe than to lose your pet. God bless.
I keep my cats indoors. But growing up my mum had outdoor cats. We adopted them and the RSPCA (Australia) told us they were outdoor cats and my mum is allergic to cats. My mum lives on a quiet street with a huge block of land. When they changed the cat curfew to 24 hours a day, it would have been cruel to keep them inside after 15+ years of being outdoors only. After I moved out and got my own cats, I have kept them indoors only. I agree that cats should be kept indoors but it's not as simple as that. Once they get the taste of the outdoors, it is really hard to keep them in. I think everyone should keep them inside from a very young age and never let them out ever. But for cats that are 10+ years old, used to being outdoors all the time, it is a very stressful change for them.
@bethanylightowler6436 Maybe that's true. But what keeps them from being hit by a vehicle or get in a fight with another cat or two? Then there's always coyotes or even mountain lions of course that depends on where you live. As I said in my comment. You never know what will happen to your cats. Maybe they should have a safe place to be outside, like a dog house they could get into to be in during bad weather. Maybe a dog door or should I say a cat door would be good. God bless.
I live in the UK and have always had cats, they go in and out as they wish. It's a safe country, only cars and dogs as dangers. My 2 would hate to be shut in and unable to dig and hunt in the garden. I agree if I lived in a city or by a busy road I would think twice about letting a cat out.
Hard to imagine such a light car hit, but people there likely don't drive like most of the places I've lived. Something of note for the video, it feels a bit too 'produced'. I'm sure most people don't think about it, but when your people got the news and then mention needing to head out ASAP, they then stop, let the camera guy go outside and set up so they can do an exiting the building shot. That screams overproduced and in the worst light looks careless on your behalf because your wasting time that you've just stated you can't afford to waste. I'm sure that a shaky cam style video looks low quality and unprofessional but I think your professionalism in your job and love of animals should be the most important thing showcased. Don't let video production take away from doing the best work you can do.
Cats vs cars would be less common if people would keep their cats indoors...🙄 It drives me crazy that people don't get that. Look at the trauma it would save their poor cats...
That is a never ending discussion. I have had a lot of cats in my life and they were indoors cats. And then I rescued 3 cats in a row that I had to let go outside because their feral genes remained too strong. But they were trained to come inside when the night came. I still prefer indoors cats because it is safer and much less stressful for me but it showed me to never judge because we don’t have the whole stories. Each is unique.

Hard for me to understand cats being allowed outdoors. Mine is strictly indoors to protect her. I am happy this beautiful cat is alright.
My cat was hit by a car. She had a front leg amputated.
Vet fees must be much more reasonable than in Canada!
I know the fees in the USA are very expensive.
In Australia it's unheard of for a vet to go chasing injured animals.
