I have a saint Pyrenees and I knew I wouldn't be able to fight him at 100 lbs so I bathed him aaaall the time as a puppy and thank God it worked he's great with it now jumps in and out of the tub and everything. Don't talk to me about his nails though...
@@spicencens7725 I feel horrible for saying this but I used one once and it immediately got wrapped in his fur.... And he hated the sound anyway. We've devised a system where he lets us clip a couple every couple days lol and that's usually enough to stay on top of it.
@tammydawson280 Lol! Dogs and cats really do make it sound like you're trying to kill them with routine care, but will almost off themselves willingly while playing. Too much! 😄
I ended up getting mine done at Petco. I tried to do it at home since she was 8 weeks old. Neighbors thought I was abusing her. Then it became a Murder scream. I ended up letting everyone know that I was trying to trim her nails. So embarrassing.
Btw, thanks for pointing out his body language. Some people don’t realize when a dog won’t look at you, and kinda stiffens up when you try to pet them - means don’t pet them.
After working in the industry for so long, yeah this needs to be explained in bitty pieces like that to a lot of people…even when they say “I’ve owned dogs all my life!” Okay, then why did you not see that dog going to snap?
We found a Rottweiler wandering up our street, toward a busy intersection. He was nervous & rather 'belligerent' while in our fenced yard, while we took pics & looked for the owners. After a couple of hours he was still dis-trusting & anxious. Then his 'Mama' came to get him-> He immediately turned into a giant, prancing, silly goofball as she harnessed him up and told him they were going home now. It was fun to watch that Beast turn into a puppy, instantly.
Totally different dog with his humans, haha He did allow more than I expected, these big dogs are so sweet he was having a protest but in a non aggressive manner.
As a vet tech I can't tell you how much I admire your dedication and patience for these animals. You are truly amazing and they are lucky to have you. No wonder people drive hours to have you groom for them.
It was so hilarious watching Brodie understand Vanessa and that he was in no harm, he's still a pup and yet has an amazing intellectual gaze. His eyes when Vanessa was drying him melted my heart. The owners reaction was one of the best now. Brodie the Brave. What a good boi!
My dog displays ALL the signs this dog showed. I thank you for commenting it so hard, so random people can learn how to recognise this kind of situations. You are the best
He had that gorgeous Bernese chest. Congratulations on making it through the obstacle course. You got the mats, you got brushing, even his feet and he looks good.
What a handsome and floofy man dog Brodie is, and he did so well during his first time being professionally groomed. Thanks Vanessa and staff at Girl With The Dogs for the work you do. You're awesome. 😁🇨🇦
He definitely has the Great Pyrenees boop! Our Pyr boy is also distrustful of humans for about five or so minutes as he takes his time to size them up. Our Pyrenees girl, however, decides far more quickly, and she absolutely adores being groomed! You can brush and fuss on her all day and she is there for it! 😂 She is the epitome of the girly girl diva rockstar at the grooming salon.
No one has talked about this but as a furry friend owner, Our dogs who were pups at the beginning of Covid, they were not able to be "People exposure" trained. For 2 yrs, our dogs, at the prime training time of their life. were stunted. Made for Anxious, unsure, kind of loopy dogs.
@@klcpca With kids it's even worse, because some spent literally their crucial time for socialization (around kindergarten age and early elementary school) in isolation, and that actually hinders building empathy. Lol I swear I love your personality u are super funny the way u talk bout the dog animals and too them it's just so funny puts me in good mood watching these videos
I have a Bernese Mountain Dog/Leonberger mix (or LeonBerner, lol), and that's a nice mix too, for both looks and personality. His coloring takes more after the Leo, with a black mask and no white on his face, but his body is a mixture of brown and black, with white on his chest and belly. His coloring kinda makes him look like some kind of German Shepherd mix with big floppy ears... if you hold his ears straight up, you really see it! He's smart, but not quite as smart as the purebred Berner we used to have. And he has a little more energy to burn, even though he's a little bigger. He's just a big, sweet, goofy boy!
Another groom well done. Brody, like so many of your doggo clients, seems to sense and quickly pick up the confidence and gentle authority you feel and display, and decide you are not a threat. Very interesting watching this interplay.
Omg I have a soft spot for Pyrenees mixes! I have an Aussie/Pyrenees myself and she is beautiful. This gentleman is no exception!! One handsome man!❤❤❤
He melted my heart! Such a big teddy bear! His soulful eyes and expressive face are endearing. He has one white paw and one red paw, which is adorable. He reminds me of my Golden Pyrenees who is the same red.color. Oh and his freckles.on his nose are so cute! My girl throws her paw in the same way and wigglles.all.over when we are reunited just like Brody! You did a great job as usual. Looks amazing!
OMG! What a beautiful dog. You are so fun to watch through your struggles (you make them funny) and all your successes ( you make them look easy). Love your patience and the love of the animals that you have.
It's one reason I'm sad she doesn't do more pitty-types. I know they're short-haired, but the butt wiggles! Can't stop them from wiggle wiggle wagging all over the place.

My dog wouldn't let me shave near her ears either. I switched to old style hand operated clippers and she was totally fine with them. It was the noise that she couldn't stand.
This is why i bathed my dog personally after a few days (he stunk-rescue with hay on him). And i took him to a professional groomer before he was 6 months. That's an amazing dog. Big, beautiful and gentle. He was like: "wait, let me tell you something..." 😅 He's a polite man, though, a real Gentleman.
I used to cut my poms occasional ear mats out until I realized the key to him not getting anymore was a daily brushing. Anytime I took him to a groomer or vet they were always surprised that he had no mats or tangles. They always told me he was the best kept pet they’d ever had in. I miss him daily but we’ve got a new baby min-schnauz now…she’s a handful but I’m trying to get her used to brushing as well. The joyful bounces and leaps when he was reunited with his humans was the best!

The entire body wiggles.😂

Very good point. They were only exposed to their families during their early development so stranger danger is real with these Covid pups.
Same with children born during COVID.... they were only around their families and some had a hard time with the noise and people in public places....
