Those pistons are racer series pistons by ACL. They have thinner rings, a lighter pin and im pretty sure they have a shorter skirt over a std ACL piston. A quick search online might yield some more info. As far as cast pistons go , they are definitely one of the better made pistons. ACL also made graphite head gaskets for holden V8, they were great in there day as well. ACL piston and rings were made in Melbourne, the gaskets were made somewhere in QLD and bearings in TASSIE. Lucky the bearing division is still going .
G’day mate nice ride had a question I had the same brakes on the front of my HQ but I ran a VT master cylinder and brake booster made the brakes pull up like a dream originally I had a WB Caprice master and brake booster I found it was terrible no pedal at all, What are the brakes you’ve got on the back
Your not running solid motor mounts??? I broke my soft mounts before I got out of my driveway...lol I went for my first test drive, put it in gear and blipped the throttle and pop goes the motor mount. The solids have been a lot more fun anyway, I love it when the entire vehicle shakes at idle.
Wow your setup must nasty, tearing the mounts up on first run . I'm still running original rubber ones, They make a nice aftermarket one called Tuff Mounts, made Down under, there very popular will see how finances go I might go down that route.
@@griffsrearmountturbothemod1623 When I blipped that throttle I hit the motor mounts with about 700 foot pounds of torque, 496 Chevy with an 871 blower, Lunati roller cam. There is only about $2000 in this engine, the rest I traded for. Never get rid of good racing junk, somebody wants it...LOL
Hi Griff I heard you say you are rebuilding you're 9" rear end I found this video really helpful when I rebuilt my mate's 67 XR falcon we built a 9" for this car with tru trac centre I went the shim adjustable pinion kit from a speed shop instead of the colapsable OEM spacer as I heard with big HP applications the pinion can loose preload I'm buy no means an expert but I am a mechanic and although the shims were a little time consuming they were accurate when setting tooth contact and contact won't go out of adjustment ruclips.net/video/8L2T2LL_gO8/видео.html Cheers love your videos and evolution of you're car thanks for sharing you're journey.
