He had on a hat with commemoration pins that tell me he was a tourist. Yes he was visiting from OK. I almost cried I've never felt a genuine connection with Cherokee from outside of me before. We play this in my cover band. Goes over well everywhere.
Brad, that loud and quiet thing is called dynamics. It is done on purpose to impart emotion and feeling into the song, and also to back off so that something else (like vocals) can stand out more. You notice it more in songs like this because it leaves gaps. In other songs, it allows you to start more chill and then build intensity.

As someone else has pointed out, there actually is a volume issue with this lyric video that isn't in the original. But that's kind of the problem with lyric videos, honestly. The people who make them are (for the most part) lazy and put in the least amount of effort possible to get clicks on their channel. I generally hate when people react to lyric videos because 95% of the time the lyrics are wrong, misspelled, and/or incomplete or cut off. Do the people who make the lyric videos do any checking to see if the lyrics are legit? Nope. Do they fix typos or errors or lyrics that got cut off? Nope. Check to see if the song cuts off abruptly 40 seconds before it's supposed to end? No way. And sound problems? Hell no. Just copy, paste, and upload without ever looking at their own video again. It sucks.

Whenever I hear this song I think about the summer after my graduation. I was constantly hanging out with my best friend who was going to leave town for his new job. We were drinking beers, eating pizza, going out and watching How I met your mother (the song features prominently in a couple of episodes). Good times.

One hit wonders?? One hit wonders??? They've had seven top 30 albums and five top thirty singles in the UK and in Scotland especially Craig and Charlie Reid are massive.
But they are even better live. hardly a word is spoken, it's just one song after another, a typical set-list would be about 25 songs and the audience know every word of each one, they are just tremendous.
Which is why I'm grateful to you, I've only just found that they are touring in the UK later in the year so I now have two tickets for the Royal Concert Hall in my hot, sweaty mailbox. It's going to be a good night.
But it would be better if we were watching them in Scotland.

    • @nethrelm

They are a one-hit wonder from an American perspective. It's the only song of theirs that charted here, and that didn't even happen until 1993 despite the song originally being from 1987. Whenever we talk of one-hit wonders, we mean here in the US. We don't pay attention to foreign charts. Of course even then people have different ideas of what exactly constitutes a "hit" song. Billboard Top 100? Top 40? Top 10? Did it have to peak at #1 (if so this song wasn't a hit either, as it peaked at #3)? I think most of us just go "I heard it on the radio a lot and it seems like pretty much everyone knows the song, therefore it was a hit", without much regard for the actual chart positions anyway, haha.

@@paulshaw9953 It's their channel, and they're American, so that's the perspective they're going to bring. Yes, RUclips is global, so you can choose to watch creators from anywhere in the world... You chose to watch an American channel and complain that their perspective is too America-centric. Do you go on Japanese channels and complain that they aren't speaking English or that their perspective is too Japan-centric as well? Not everyone wants to be some kind of global citizen... most people actually are attached to their culture and have little interest in what the rest of the world gets up to as long as it isn't threatening their way of life. It's not "backwards thinking", it's normal. Your entitled attitude that they should cater to your perspective rather than their own is what's backwards.

If they did a 90s stream and reacted to songs all released and made popular in the 80s would that be OK with you? I mean it's their channel so why not right??
Also they asked for 1 hit wonders, not American one hit wonders, they are broadcasting live all over the world asking people to suggest one hit wonders, they are literally working on a global scale... it's not about me wanting a certain thing, it's about facts. Brad, the soft and loud in a song is called "dynamics" - the music gets louder (crescendos) and softer (decrescendos) at times for effect. This is a fun little song that everybody can sing along with and enjoy.
