You are SO lucky to be living where these wonderful places are so easily accessible. I'm in California, and it's a MAJOR pain to get to the British Isles. Love these videos ❤
What a fantastic adventure! The gorgeous scenery, the history of the area as well as all the historical places to see & visit made this episode unforgetable. Thanks for bringing us along.
I know the area quite well and we normally go up to the Northumberland Coast every summer for 2-3 weeks (concluding this last weekend, by chance). So your trip , more so from the next video onwards, covers well trodden ground for me. I would say that if the rest of the videos are like this one, they will be well filmed, well presented and edited and moved along at a gentle pace. There is no need to rush when showing such natural beauty and history. This video was like a good TV travel documentary. A really good watch
It's like Christmas morning as a kid all over again every time I wake up and see that wonderful notification saying you've posted another video! I can't express how much I love them! Thank you, Thank you!!!!
Born and bred. Love my county of Northumberland no better place to live ,so full of history and beauty.thanks for sharing you did an excellent video show casing it.
The amount of information you share with us about the history of the towns and their buildings is mind blowing! Just wanted you to know how much I enjoy and appreciate the amount of research that goes into your beautifully shot videos!
Thank you so much for noting the effort we put in. It does take a lot of time. Its interesting to find out more than just the surface of a place and then share i through the videos. Seaton Sluice was a prime example, we knew little about it until we arrived and the research that followed the trip. As always thank you for your support that helps keep the channel going.
I recently climbed a very similar lighthouse on Tsunoshima island, Shimonoseki, Japan. There are many such lighthouses in Japan built by Richard Henry Brunton who had trained at Stephensons in Edinburgh. Great video, thanks!
Hi Simon & Wills, we love your travel video's. We spent a couple of days in Northumberland back in February as we passed through on our our way to Scotland. We will now through your video see the places we didn't see on our trip.If you get chance, Alnwick is a really pretty town to visit, and Bamburgh Castle is a really interesting place. Thanks for your wonderful video's 😊
Both Alnwick and Bamburgh will be in this series! Along with numerous others in the county. We covered quite a bit of ground in a week! Still need to go back for more! Hope you enjoy the visits.
I love that land has been cleaned up from mining and made into conservation for nature to reclaim. I'm really going to enjoy this series, although I love all you do. Take care Simon and Will. =-)
Hello from Cyprus! I really love your videos, and that you give lots of information about the places you visit! I like the voice of the narrator, you speak so clearly, and it's so easy to understand you (as english is not my first language)! Looking forward to the next video! XX
Another fabulous video, you two are brilliant. What a beautiful area that was. Love to see people who love their own countries. Don’t think there is a. Better channel on RUclips than yours. Thanks for the share. Please take care
As good as anything you’ve done so far. I always enjoyed working in that area before I retired, it brings back memories I treasure, thanks to you lads.
EXCELLENT!!!!! Your history and drone-work, editing and all -round wonderfulness are doing our old home county proud! And nice weather to get you going... I hope you came away thinking, there's so much more to see - we have to get back - I'd say in September-time! Thank you, do hope this encourages people to visit, and even Newcastle is worth an explore. Thank you!
Oh yes we will have to go back and do some more. 1 week is no enough and i doubt 2 weeks would be either. For the drone shots we introduced we cannot take credit. We get them from a subscription, using them sparingly and to help tell the story where needed. There are so many rules with drones these days I would rather we visit places than muck about with licensing and all that goes with using one. So many places don't allow them now unless they are professionally agreed shots.
Mesmerizing views & definitely im in love with this place ❤ your visuals & editing really made entire video marvelous 😊 the scenery is so breathtaking 😍 im so thrilled watching such a enchanting beauty & love wait for more.. thanks for sharing 👍
Slight correction. The pit disaster was not actually at Hartley but at New Hartley which lies a mile or two inland. A momument to the men and boys lost there is in the nearby St Albans Churchyard at Earsdon. Also Seaton Delaval Hall is well worth a visit. Although the main hall was gutted by fire in 1822, it is now used for art exhibitions and performances. The grounds are very pretty also❤
We never made it to Berwick on this trip, was just a bit out of our way for the other things we had planned. Certainly want to visit it, the next time we head to Northumberland. So much more to see and do!
First the Yorkshire Dales, then the Lake District and now Northumberland....our travel plans are getting longer and longer. We're already looking forward to it and can hardly wait. 😊Tommy from N.Germany
We have not been to the Lake District yet, still on our list. Wales maybe you were thinking. So glad the trips are giving you ideas for places to visit.
Another fantastic video, thank you. I appreciate all the research you must do to bring all the history to your videos, I’ve learnt so much watching them.
We just missed each other! I was there and nearly contacted you. I absolutely fell in love with Northumberland. So special. I‘ll go back so I‘m thrilled to get your tips here.
@@MemorySeekers yes! I wasn’t going to, but I couldn’t resist. I included the places in my last two videos. I was at Bamburgh Castle and Lindesfarne, but of course my titles are about returning to GB and how tourists are treated. I had an absolutely wonderful time, thank you!
I live in Whitley Bay on the seafront. I admit I do take the area for granted. Although Whitley Bay is North Tyneside, the border to Northumberland is literally as you leave Whitley Bay into Seaton Sluice. Great video ❤️
Looking forward to your tour of one of our favourite parts of England, Vera country! Lots of wide open spaces and very interesting history. Not been there but read a lot about Northumberland (great name) and watched numerous videos of places of interest .
We have been lots of times over the years always love it you will want to go again go to cragside absolutely lovely so much history first place to have electricity
Lovely video of beautiful Northumberland. We live near to the area and visit often, we love it. I have just found you and look forward to watching your other videos. Have you visited the Lake District, if not, definitely worth a visit.
Excellent, as always. I found out that Seaton Delaval Hall was gutted by a fire in 1822 and never recovered its splendour, therefore is not really worth a visit as the house is just a shell. I am sure you must have enjoyed some nice food at the pub! 😋I hope that nothing happened to the horse that killed that stupid woman. 😁😁
I’ve been to Whitley Bay several times. One of my favourite places. I’m going back in late August. Never visited the lighthouse befare. Thought I would this time, but it is now closed for much needed restoration.
@MemorySeekers Thank you for your reply. I was born near Porthcawl and lived there. Whenever we go back, we stay at Nash Point at The Wagon house at the farm in Marcross. You can walk the coastal path past Nash Point lighthouse (you are allowed through the closed gate there). The path continues to St. Donats and further to Llantwit Major. Southerndown also has a scenic walk with Dunraven house ruins n gardens, up some forest steps to stunning cliff views. Also worth a visit is Ewenny pottery and Abbey, Merthyr Mawr village. The sand-dunes. (Lawrence of Arabia filmed here) Ogmore castle (be aware the stepping stones are tidal!) Could I recommend the channel Marcus Walks. He's a Porthcawl local historian, and his videos will show you fabulous places with also the map routes. We will be there again next year! Loving your videos and shall look forward to seeing your videos of my childhood homeground!
Fantastic series showcasing my beautiful home county! As a Cramlingtonian though, may I point out that Northumberladia is situated in the town of Cramlington, and not Cramplington as narrated in this episode! 😂😂😂 Sorry if this sounds nit picky, I'm just proud of my roots!

A well-made film, informative and nicely paced with a well constructive narrative. However I dislike the kangaroo camera work when walking. The technique could be improved. Otherwise a wonderful film and look forward to watching others.

British Gal Watching from America.
Thank you so much, so kind ☺
@Nova2032- I agree! Yes, your voice is brilliant for public speaking!
Agreed!
Me too ..@@ceri64
My home county. Nice to see it through a tourist's eyes. After living here for 55 years im guilty of taking it all for granted.
Fantastic video. This show should be on television. Greetings from Australia.
Thank you Richard so kind as always!
You are SO lucky to be living where these wonderful places are so easily accessible. I'm in California, and it's a MAJOR pain to get to the British Isles. Love these videos ❤
It is certainly quite a journey. Thank you so much for watching.
Outdid yourself in every way. Amazing ❤. This series will be one to watch many times. I enjoyed very much. Hugs and many blessings.

It’s the best county in the country by far and the people are amazing and that’s what we call home

Very interesting! Father of Japanese lighthouses, I never knew that. thanks!

Oh my gosh you make me want to go back-I lived in Berwick upon Tweed for 8 years-such a lovely place Northumberland!!
We never made it to Berwick on this trip, was just a bit out of our way for the other things we had planned. Certainly want to visit it, the next time we head to Northumberland. So much more to see and do!
Wonderful as ever. Haven't done the whiteley bay area, just Alnmouth and above. It has really encouraged us to look at including that next time we go
Hopefully lots more ideas to come during the series. Thanks for watching.☺
Thank you! Wonderful tour and I look forward to more!

Yes I am afraid it is until mid September.
I live in rural northumberland and relish winter when the tourists have gone home. Please keep dogs on leads near our livestock
very beautiful place!😍😍😍
It's beautiful place 💚
I love your videos. You'd love the Vale of Glamorgan coastline.
We hope to do a series on South Wales sometime and have a number of places marked on the coast there! One day we will get there! ☺

Get it booked! ☺
Yes it was a silly mistake to make.
Very Cool 😎
Thanks for the video. Pensacola Fl
Thanks for watching!
* It's 'Cram-LING-ton' not 'CramP lingron' I grew up there and suffered very little cramp in the process.
Thanks for the correction!
The Pensacola Lighthouse has 177 steps with no outside rail.
I had to look up where that was!
So…??
That big lighthouse in your opening credits is not in Northumberland... It is called St. Mary's lighthouse and it is situated in the county of Tyne and Wear.
I know It’s less than a mile.
Cramplington? Oh dear!
I know, where did I pull that from! 😳
❤❤❤
Really Pretty :)
Thank you! 😊
Northumberlandia is in Cramlington, not Cramplington. Good video (as a Northumbrian).
Thank you for the correction!
Great video .. BUT !
Your thumbnail shows St Mary's Lighthouse, which is actually located in Whitley Bay, within the county of Tyne & Wear, not in Northumberland.
I live in Whitley bay and it used to be in Northumberland, but in the early 70s the new county of Tyne & Wear was formed.
Must admit we watched your Alnmouth film before this one, it's certainly a good introduction into your Northumberland holiday, we've stopped off at Northumberlandia a few times now, i wind the wife up by walking up the chesticals and kissing the nipples 🤣🤦, so wrong in many ways.
A well-made film, informative and nicely paced with a well constructive narrative. However I dislike the kangaroo camera work when walking. The technique could be improved. Otherwise a wonderful film and look forward to watching others.
Thank you for your thoughts.
St. Mary's Lighthouse isn't in Northumberland
By a mile 🙄
Yep - it's in Northumbria but not in Northumberland. Whitley Bay is very much Tyne and Wear.
