    The 2023 NBA season for the Boston Celtics feels as if it has been a rollercoaster for them. Because while at times, Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and the team have looked to be in very awkward stretches of rough basketball, there’s also been plenty of points where the C’s have looked like the most dominant team in the entire NBA by a landslide. But what’s been making the biggest difference in these swings might be surprising to some of you.
    Now it’s also widely accepted that the 2023 Boston Celtics have arguably one of the deepest benches and rotations out of all teams in the league as well. And with guys like Marcus Smart, Malcolm Brogdon, Al Horford, & Derrick White leading the 2nd unit, the team thrives to a completely new level when their supporting cast is highly involved. But then with the next tier of guys like Grant Williams, Sam Hauser, Robert Williams & Blake Griffin, there’s specific points where HC Joe Mazzulla has the Celtics offense looking borderline unbeatable.
    Then in terms of the Celtics defense, this has really been their steady point for most of the season. And the thing is, they’ve been playing stellar in this regard without The Timelord Robert Williams III for a majority of the season. And when he returns to full strength, it might just point to this team hitting a peak we haven’t seen yet.
    This video includes 2023 Boston Celtics highlights, also including topics like Boston celtics 2023, celtics vs bucks highlights, celtics vs jazz, jayson tatum celtics highlights, jaylen brown celtics news, jaylen brown interview, malcolm brogdon celtics highlights, derrick white celtics highlights, robert williams celtics injury news, celtics news today, celtics bucks, celtics coach, celtics joe mazzulla, celtics undisputed, boston celtics espn, celtics live, celtics 76ers preview, celtics full game, celtics vs warriors, celtics al horford, celtics sam hauser, celtics payton pritchard, celtics milwaukee bucks, etc, which I do not own ANY of the rights to whatsoever, as these are intended to be used under the guidelines of fair use through RUclips.

    Malcolm Brogdon was the best pickup all season. What he's doing coming off the bench, how he's embraced his roll is amazing and makes this team so much more deadly. Not to mention how he's shooting the 3.

    The Celtics know they are the best team they don’t really half to prove it every single game especially when there’s 82 games, but this year those 82 games are playoff games, with a target on there heads. they show up for the real teams and completely stomp their heads in, you can see the unfinished business that they have, and once the playoffs start they won’t be messing around. I’ll be shocked if any series goes to 7 this year with them.

    Derrick White is the most underrated player in the league and doesn't get as much run as he should, especially late in games. He gives you rim protection at the guard spot and extremely switchable man defense. He can guard guys up to like 6'9. I've noticed that White's offense initiation has diminished in the last few weeks; the team still succeeds, but I think the advantage of him drawing attention in drives and dishing to the stars is better than Tatum and Brown driving the offense from the start, since that's often what leads to the iso possessions and contested threes after doing nothing all possession. The iso focus increases late in games and Tatum specifically has been a horrible clutch time shooter. Brown should be the go-to guy for isolation late.

    I don't know why this is so confusing? Boston is a great team, but no one can navigate an 82 game season and be dominant every game- especially given the importance of the 3 pointer. You simply are going to have off nights (as well as nights where you can't miss).

    • @insidiouslol2682
      @insidiouslol2682 Год назад

      The problem isn't that they have off-nights; rather, they have nights where they blow ridiculous leads FOLLOWED by off-nights and more ridiculous blown leads. They're the most polarizing team in recent memory. So much so, in fact, that for the first time in my life I decided to stop watching them until the playoffs a few months ago because of how disheartening their play was at times lol.
      But, yes, I do agree people blow some losses out of the water. People forget that even the worst NBA teams are still made up of players being made tens of millions of dollars. Those very same players on the rockets or spurs may easily find themselves on a championship roster next year. People absolutely need to calm down about minor rough patches, although the fashion in which the Celtics have been losing is the main cause of concern, not solely the fact that they've been losing.

  • @itsmeforsure5475

    The Brogdon pickup was huge. He could start on most teams and plays well on both sides of the ball. Big Al is a big asset on the arc. He can set a big pick so their big has to chase or leave Big Al open for the 3. He's a glue guy too, makes everything work. If we can keep the masked man out of the garden, we'll be fine.

    More passing, and fewer *iso* plays. I've felt this for the past several years about the Celtics. It's why I hated when Kyrie Irving was on the team, because I don't think he ever got how much involving everyone can help a team. (Among other things, more passing really raises everyone's energy level, which then shows up in their defensive effort. I suspect it even helps the guys watching from the bench so, when they eventually check in, they hit the ground running.) The two Js seem not to get it at times, and I'm not just talking about when they try to drive through three guys, at once. Although that, surely, does not help. 🏀

    starters: white, brown, tatum, grant, al

    Bostons versatility on the defensive end doesn't get as much credit as it should. They can basically switch 1-5 with any lineup they put out there. All of the guards have a high level defensive IQ and good size to able to switch onto larger matchups. With how much emphasis is put on to high screen and rolls in this modern era of basketball, having the option to switch 1-5 will pay huge dividends in the playoffs. There really isn't a defender on the team that an opposing team can target and isolate throughout the game. Jayson and Jaylen are both high level 2 way players themselves, and I don't think its even worth mentioning AL and Rob, we know what they bring on the defensive end of the ball. This team has all the pieces necessary to win a Championship.

    Awesome summary. The C’s are stacked aren’t they?They can win in so many ways and yes. The iso game ain’t gonna win them a championship. Defense turning on the offense and ball movement is the key. Im concerned that they still make fundamental mistakes like weekside rebounding, Simple boxing out and sometimes lazy defensive mindset away from the ball from the J’s. Their hoop IQ is increasing as it needs to but they are still young and blessed with talent so got away with lacking some fundimental a for a long time. Ain’t gonna work against a Hi IQ team like they ran into last year against Golden State.

    I'll say this, if Boston can maintain a high 3pt percentage throughout the playoffs, they will get a chip this year. However, I think they're a little too reliant on the 3 ball at times. They WILL have nights where those shots are just not falling. And I'm telling you now, they can NOT have games like that against some of these match-ups. Milwaukee will eat them alive, and other teams can use that as momentum to overtake them in a series. The margin for error is not as big as some think. But Boston is the team to beat, and I say that as a somewhat humble Bucks fan. We'll see y'all in the ECF 😅.

    The most surprising thing about Boston this season for me is, after losing in the Finals to the Warriors last year, Tatum and Brown were supposed to be so “ Upset, Disappointed, Angry, etc..” that as a fan I couldn’t wait for the season to start so I could see some of this FIRE that’s supposed to be burning inside of them. And while for the most part of the season they have been the class of the Eastern Conference, they still only look half as good as they did last season… & I think I’m being generous saying that. How does a team this good who’s should be motivated to show their dominance over their peers in the East but instead we have 3 losses to Orlando, 2 losses to NY, 2 losses to Cleveland and in all of these games they didn’t look like the team from last season and for me that is concerning…!!!!

      @@12branko12 I know it’s really maddening because a few times we’ve been right there, and I thought we blew it with our approach and strategy. I mean that team with Rozier, GH, Kyrie, was epic but All three valuable players walked without us getting any compensation which is poor management and future building/planning for the front office Wyc/Brad/Danny the blame pie is confusing with all of the intricacies of the many mini decisions that in my opinion tell a tale of a front office not making decisions based on the team’s best interests in terms of Winning there could be a world where Winning is no longer the goal but maintaining the fan base is. So as long as the fans will pay to see/support the product they (The front office) put in front of us (fans) then there’s no incentive for them to actually try to win they just have to appear to be trying which promotes parity and yada yada yada. But whatever the case I believe that the Celtics have reached this level of Organizational “ Maturity “ if you will where they are essentially victims of their early success in relation to the realistic future of their successes…!!!!! It’s been tough but really rewarding being a C’s fan… I don’t like Football, Baseball or Hockey so they have really been my only hope for home pride…!

They were in Phily w/o Brown or Williams and lost by 2 to the 76ers... They play well when they care, they just don't care every single night. That said, I think Brown is better this year than last, but Tatum is a tiny bit worse, (not than finals Tatum cause I think he was injured in shoulder and never said much, but before that he was otherworldly) his shooting for sure has been more streaky. Still they are better now than last year, I think they can win it all. Go C's!

    • @SpeedFoe
      @SpeedFoe Год назад

      @@mikes1487 That’s what I mean, how are you saying on one hand that you are upset about losing to the Warriors in the Finals the way you did last season and couldn’t wait for the season to start again so that you could have another chance. Then your season starts and you’re consistently losing games because you don’t care sometimes… Well one thing we all know is that a season is about building good habits that translate to winning so that when you hopefully make it to the playoffs making the right play is like second nature to you and your teammates. They are getting used to some pretty self destructive habits that are not translating into wins. I hope they can win it all, but with JT’s leadership and lack in ability to fight through the defense and attack the rim and the TEAMS inability to switch game plans when JT renders himself ineffective chucking bricks at the sight of any resistance I’m just not sure. I think the team would be stronger being led by Jaylen, he’s more consistent and he has become a mid range master…!!!!!

      Absolutely agree. When there's no driving and the whole possession takes place behind the arc, that's when I know the offense is failing completely. Sometimes I think that when Tatum or Brown are tired, they just take a contested 3 to try and cheat their fatigue, like they can get something with the least effort. Sadly, I can definitely see them relying too much on iso in the playoffs once again. I think the Bucks are the favorites because they have such a robust inside-out game; Giannis not being a shooter honestly benefits them because he has to drive and draw attention rather than trying to bale himself out constantly with smothered 3s.
