This is an excerpt of a talk given by J. Krishnamurti, a philosopher, writer, and speaker.
"You know, actually, and that is a terrible thing to realize. Actually, we have no love. We have sentiment; we have emotionality, sensuality, sexuality; we have remembrances of something which we have thought as love. But actually, brutally, we have no love. Because to have love means no violence, no fear, no competition, no ambition.
If there is love, there is peace, because you would educate your children not to be a nationalist, not to have only a technical job and look after his own petty little affairs. You would have no nationality, there would be no divisions of religion, if you loved. But as these things actually exist - not theoretically, but brutally - in this ugly world, it shows that you have no love. If the mother really loved her child, do you think the world would be like this?
So we have not that love. But you must have it. If you don't have it, you cannot have virtue, you cannot be orderly, you cannot live with passion.
And there is no time. You can't say, "Well, I can live without love because I have lived without love for two million years and I will live another two million years without love" - that means perpetual sorrow for the next two million years.
So what will you do? If you say please tell me what to do, then you are missing the bus entirely. But if you saw the importance, the immensity, the urgency of that question - not tomorrow not the next day or the next hour, but see it now while you are sitting. Admittance of time is the greatest sorrow. As sorrow and love cannot be resolved, or love cannot exist through time, what is the state of your mind that has put this question?
If you put that question with that alacrity, with that urgency, with that potency, then what takes place in the mind? Because it will not allow time to come and interfere. Therefore such a mind has an infinite space both in the mind and in the heart; and so that mind is in a state of love; and in that sense of beauty, in that sense of vast, infinite space, there is creation."

It's a terrifying thought that hardly any of us know what genuine love actually is.
It aches my heart greatly.
In bhagavad gita it is written we have left God and that's why this world has no love..so we have to go to back to godhead to experience love
Avant Aklu, we all recognize it, in thàt we are all one, and is not knew to us..
It is terrifying to see ourselves as separate consciousness, as the fear of it makes unconditional Love not possible.

"Actually, we have no love." Instead, we have "competition", "war", people obsessing about their "petty little affairs". If we had love there would be Peace. What a brilliant man. And the world was listening during his lifetime. An eternal message.
You are right, exactly right. If there were more love in the world it'd be a lot better place to be but there is a time for war, but only if there is no other option. It seems like the lata over some fools, is the only way some will ever listen. There is no reasoning with a hypocrite
Love is the positive, constructive, compassionate energy generated in your heart.
The energy that informs your rational mind yet remains undstained by it.
The force that makes your ego invisible to you and your rational thoughts silent. It makes you stop caring so much about yourself, while caring more about others.

The truth of this is seen all around us all the time in every corner of the planet. War. Slaughterhouses. Violence as entertainment. It hits one in the chest with force, that this is actually what was happening when these words were spoken, and it is still happening as I type these words an January 5th of 2022. My God, can we find our way to beauty? Not pleasure, but beauty, deep beauty. I wonder.
Love is expressed in GIVING only , what you give out Love will come back to you ❤

Better to move beyond mind and then we can love.
Moving beyond mind is immerse ourselves on deep contemplation, meditation.
Ego originates from thought process. Thought process can be matured through contemplation and meditation.

No love? But what about all the Hallmark cards and Hollywood movies? Ok, putting them aside, I still believe in love, and as I am impermanent in this body, when I have glanced at love it also was impermanent. Everything else was the carrot or the stick. Almost everything was the carrot or the stick. Yet I have had moments, profound insights and intuitions, where I felt connected to another person that did not leave me afraid that I would lose them nor grasping for more of the moment. These times may have been few and far between, but they were perhaps the only real moments of this life.

As you all notice, there is no compassion in the world.

Love is there when this manufactured self is absent
and with love there is compassion. same ting.
If you are lucky to find love you will see that self evaporates

If love is important, then why does hate exist as well in all of us. Why the duality? How to get rid of hatred when everything around us is full of it. Is love narrow? cause hatred certainly is.
You realize love doesn't exist when you are down bad. Suddenly friends and family turn into demons. That unconditional bullshit is suddenly riddled with conditions. I won't ever live another second believing in the idea of it
