Nice review. FYI Static V had to cut their temperature ratings in half. They didn't test true

Thanks for the heads up I thought I had heard something about that thru the grapevine. Will investigate further.

Thanks for the video, I’m looking to buy that exact quilt. My recommendation would be to get the Gossamer Gear 1/8” foam pad. It can go underneath the static v to get you some extra insulation and it’s very light weight. It also can be used as a sit-pad during the day when you aren’t in the tent anyways. Happy trails

I have the same Kymit static V pad. Maybe the Baffles are R-4 but not between the baffles. I found mine to be cold in below-freezing temperatures. They seem to be a good value but not for cold weather. Thank you for your videos.

Thanks Mark for your comments will try a foil layer; hoping that will compensate for btwn the baffles. Take care

Nice quilt. I have a 30F quilt from EE and have been looking to add their 10F to the mix. I find in cold weather I need to add a foam pad (ZLite) over my inflatable to stay warm enough. It also allows for emergency backup insulation so I don't totally freeze if my pad gets a leak.

Hi Kriz, I’m really pleased with the 10F revelation, and may take a foam as well? That said I have a new vid coming out in a week on the temp use of duct wrap insulation. Stay tuned. Question?? how deep if any does the frost go in Georgia?

I've not hiked South of VA, so I don't have the answer to the frost question.

Maybe look for another layer on your pad. An emergency blancket might do the trick and is very lightweight! 😁 When are you starting your hike? Have a nice day!

I was thinking of a thin emergency blanket which I do have but felt that it wouldn’t last before tearing? I looked at the frost levels in Georgia which is 5 inches compared to Manitoba 60-72. I just might be ok without but will bring something anyways. I’ll start hiking in Mid February. Brrr ;-)

@@WalkingofftheCrazy That's early. I sure would take the emergency blancket. You can probably replace that easily on the way if necessary! 😁

Just took my 20 degree EE Revelation for it's maiden trip. 28F overnight, tent set on snow, slept great! No more waking up twisted up inside a sleeping bag! I wore a lightweight hooded down jacket and was very comfortable. For cold weather the optional draft collars are a good idea.

Thank you for your comment good to hear it worked out for u. I recently purchased a sea to summit liner not sure if I’m sold on that but will give it a try nevertheless.

How clammy is the fabric? I sweat a lot and this looks like it will get sticky.

Not clammy at all down breaths really well. If you sleep hot may be advisable to use a 20 degree, have heard they perform well on the AT during the winter months.
