I love the dyna because of the sound and motor shake (rubber mounted). Those two things are a package that you get and M8s will never be able to reach the sound. I had a FXBBS street bob 2021 (new) and sold it one year later for a used dyna low riders s 2017 with 4k miles. Decision to not invest any further into the street bob was made when i was on a biker meetup and even the big guys with cool bikes had the ugly sound. It became clear to me that this is unfixable, otherwise those guys would have done it. I uploaded some sound footage of both bikes if you are interested. A lot of people see it like me. Either they don't care or they agree. You can also check online, for how much dyna low riders sell vs softail low riders. Even though newer and fewer miles, they go away wayy cheaper! But i cannot blame harley. I'm sure those decisions are hugely impacted by emission rules and stuff like that. They harley iron no longer sells in europe, because they could not match emissions with their air cooled evos (I believe). A M8 nowadays can be compared to a honda from a sound perspective, not gonna lie. The sound is in the history books now and probably never comes back.
@@TheMotoJawn It can improve it with a cam yes. But the high pitched whiny sound remains, sadly. This is what annoyed me the most. :/ It has to be related to the counter balancers or the cooling I assume, but I have no idea.
“Different Strokes”, I suppose… I have a 2020 FatBoy with a Stage One (Vance & Hines pipes)… it sounds great to me without being too loud and annoying the general public. I’m in love with it.
Very very cool. This was just what I was looking to see. If I can work out to afford the lowrider S at some point I'll be happy. I did a demo last weekend, was super impressed. Blew my twin cam street glide away. I'll give up that big heavy fairing for sure. However, I'd take a late model Dyna as well if that's in the cards.

What year is the Low Rider S in this video? I’ve gotta 23 (❤️ it) and I’ve gotta single gauge on the bars. I wish HD had a slightly larger MOTO style race bike fairing for it
Dude that 114 is sick. I was very, very pleasantly surprised when I rode the 2021 low rider. Definitely needed a few changes, but an awesome platform to start off with
@@danielnovak8293 biggest problem I had was the mid controls, they were so high my knees were up higher than the tank. That and the seat. Other than that a basic stage one but that would be just to make it look and sound cooler, honestly haha.
M8 any day. Better looking, better suspension, smoother engine and my 117 with TBR Turnout moves. Doesn't need anything, except led signals. And this bike sounds awesome. My old dyna didn't sound much different. What a cruiser is supposed to be and look like.
Your quote, "Felt more planted on the Softail". What is the difference in seat height if at all? I had a 1989 springer & changed the stock seat (which really had you seating down into the bike) to a Heritage seat & it really changed the center of gravity as far as throwing the bike over from side to side. What could of the seat height have changed, 1-1/2"- 2" ? The Softail feels smoother because it has more counter balancing which some people say takes away HP which you wouldn't notice (IMHO) because of the added displacement. I was thinking one of purchasing the Sporster 1200 models ( cheaper ) for short rides down around the Smokies/Blueridge area but been eyeing up these Street Bob & S models instead. PS: I also owned a 08 Superglide 96" ci after a 06 Road King. Plenty fast enough & big enough displacement. Add a cam, intake, injectors &, an exhaust & you are all set with plenty enough to lose your driver's licence! Thanks for the review.
Imagine having to choose between these two bikes. The Dyna version is the better looking of the two (IMO). It is a shame that Harley did not use the same philosophy in building the M8 version and put a 119 in it. I know you can put a stage 4 through it. But the Lowrider S is meant to have a bit more bite to it than standard Harleys.
Now it does! Comes with the 117 now. I’d be hard pressed to tell anyone the difference between the 114 and 117 though. I’ve owned both. Spring for a stage IV. That was a fantastic upgrade.
Of coarse the dealer rep will say the m8 . He’s gassing up the soft tail. The 2016-17 dyna will smoke the 2020 m8 114. The only reason the 2020 feels more planted is because it’s a balanced engine w solid mounts and inverted front end compared to a rubber mounted engine in the twin cam. The rear monoshock does not make the 2020 handle better. With a couple solid motor mounts on the dyna it will feel just like the m8 in terms of handling.
