Thank you Mike for sharing your thoughts! We're glad that you enjoyed the expansion. There's a section on the last page of the Steelslayer rulebook that shows additional ways to modify the difficulty -- either a notch up/down from the 4 main difficulty levels --, which might be useful for you or others playing in the near future. Happy gaming!
To be clear, while these books are classified as "Young Adult", they have a wide appeal. Count me as another 50-year-old guy who's enjoyed what he's read. (Mike)
I mean, I read "young adult" books in my 30's pretty often. ;) If they are well written it's well written, and they often have the advantage they are very easy, quick reads.
Thanks Mike for the review, we are glad you enjoyed it! In case anyone feels the expansion or base game is too easy or too hard there are additional rules on the final page of the expansion rule book that give simple ways to expand the difficulty range in both directions.
I'm stunned you didn't find it that way. All you had to do was keep the minions off the board and the rest falls into place. My group stopped playing because it was so formulaic. Kill minions, manage villains, beat steelheart gg.
@@carterbean6008 I’d love to see that. Closest we ever came was maybe getting him down to 10 health after researching before he killed off the population.
No spoilers in game or review. I'm not fully sure if there might be something little in the expansion, but shouldn't be noticeable for those who don't know what to look for. Go on and enjoy.
Yes. There is a massive book spoiler in both the review and the game if you know the art from the first game. A certain component that was quite prominent in the review for a long time is a major spoiler. I wish some thought had been given to that.
@@davidredfern8952 I appreciate the heads up about this, as I certainly don’t ever go out of my way to spoil anything for anyone. In this case, I don’t know that there’s much that can be done. If people are watching the review, it’s likely that they are interested in playing the game. If they play the game, they’re going to see the components that I show in the overview. There are no envelopes, sealed boxes, etc. that attempt to obscure anything. As you mentioned, working with IPs can lead to certain challenges like these, but since there was no effort made in obscuring the components in the box, I feel like it was appropriate to show the components in a review for the game.

Mike mentioned a "Young Adult" book series. I am a 50 year old guy and still really enjoyed the books.

@@enragednerd1884 Either I'm playing it wrong or y'all are. I'm thinking maybe I have because I've never beaten Steelheart.
I almost always beat it after five turns.

Are they going to make more of the base game? Can't find it anywhere 😑
Really looking forward to this one! Love the base game
Does this game and/or review contain any spoilers for the book series for those who haven't read it yet?

☆°~*Spoiler Alert*~°☆ Mike died, all Reckoners died, bigger box, similar footprint, everyone died!

This game is hard enough for me. Lol
Just keep minions off the board. Then the villains need to be prioritized hit only the absolute threats, beat on steelheart gg
