    Hey Mike! Anotehr game you "made" me buy. 😉
    I'm really enjoying it, despite the contain strategy flaw. I've been playing through it and really enjoy the core mechanics. I love having lots of action economy, so this hits the spot.
    Thanks for this playthrough!

    Thanks for the playthrough :) Its nice to see that they changed things up quite a bit. Unfortunately it seems like its still the best strategy to just contain epics and go for the boss kill. I thought they would change that somewhat too.

      @OneStopCoopShop  2 года назад

      Yeah, I feel the same. A houseful to make the epics advance further on their track the longer they are out could help, so you get punished more and more for not defeating them. Or force you to get research for the boss from defeating epics instead of basic research.

    I wish they made the boss tray in a way that the powers board fit flush against the other board. It’s a little irritating.

    I thought you could only lower the Boss's research by beating the Epic, not with dice. I guess I've been playing the game in extra hard all this time, LOL. Great video, love this channel.

      You can definitely use regular research to lower the boss. I did have to check for regalia though… with steelheart you can only research at his location, but with regalia basic research can always lower your current location (Seth confirmed).

      Yeah, I thought the crown research symbol could only be lowered by the same symbols which only Epic had. But learning a new thing never hurts, thank you.

      @@laneudy7 well, maybe that's how it SHOULD work. I think I had a little too easy of a time here ignoring epics ;)

      I know it's been a while, but I got my Steelslayer copy today and went back to the rules and I was right, you can ONLY lower Steelheart (boss) Research by beating Epics, not using regular research. It's on Page 17 of the Reckoners rulebook, on the "Epic Rewards" section. Just wanted to clear that out, still love your content and never miss a video!!!!!

    • @OneStopCoopShop

      Sorry, that’s still not correct. Look at page 16 of the rules, the steelheart section. It says right there that players can use their dice to research steelheart like any other epic.
      As I said before, Seth (one of the designers of the game) confirmed this.
      What the part on page 17 means is that the research bonus from defeating epics (with the crown symbol) can ONLY go to steelheart. But that doesn’t apply to regular research results without a crown on dice and such. Those can be used for regular epics OR for the boss.
      Hope that clears things up!

    Hmmmm I was kinda hoping that the expansion would fix my problems with the base game, now I'm not so sure, I'll give it a shot when it arrives, but I have a feeling I'll be getting rid of it, hopefully the hype around Sanderson will still be around when I try to sell it

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  2 года назад +1

      That multi-million Kickstarter of his is still running, right?
      For me, the expansion fixes many issues, but not all. Those would still need some house-ruling for my full enjoyment.

      @@OneStopCoopShop I guess I'll have to see for myself when I get it. It's too bad though, the theme is very cool, although I've never read the books. I think The Boys might be similar, but the game they did of that is not nearly at this game's level, even.

    Is this game worth it for solo only?

    • @OneStopCoopShop

      Solo is fine, but I personally prefer the cooperative play

      @@OneStopCoopShop thanks, I ended passing on this. Too random, epics are all the same basically and it gets repetitive quickly. Thanks

    38:00 you think you can lose a dice you have already used, or you wanted to be able to do that to make sure that you won on that round ?

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  2 года назад

      Hm, looking at the rules again you are probably right. I thought it was vague, but it does use the word “discard”, so it probably does have to be a remaining die.

    • @JLH111176

      @@OneStopCoopShop If you can chose a die you have already used to lose then you will always make sure that happens then and that may as well be a blank spot then ?
