Thanks Jon for teaching the game so concisely and recording this playthrough. Very slick move near the end to use all of your combined research and attacks to take-down Steelheart quickly.
I only recently discovered your channel but I have to say that I'm really getting a lot out of the videos I've watched so far. I appreciate the attention to detail (including the corrections) as well as the fact that you keep things moving forward in the videos without a lot of hemming and hawing or dead time. I get a better sense of whether or not I want to buy a game based on your playthrough videos than I would from anyone else's reviews. Many thanks, keep up the great work!
Thanks for the playthrough, and nice job with the explanation. I had a couple of adjustments that you may want to note. 14:22 -- Page 22: "The Reckoners collectively must discard any one die to the bottom of the Reckoner Resource Tray." Step four of the sidebar example also shows only one die being lost. "Every single player is going to lose one of their action dice" should probably be replaced by "the team must lose one die from one player". (I see that you corrected this the second time and mentioned it at the end, but my be worth mentioning at the beginning too.). This isn't explicit in the rules, but wouldn't the failure to Fortify Falseface's health mean that one population is lost each round until the research is completed? It says +1 to each, and you only moved one of the tokens, after all. (This happened twice in this game, so your final population should have been two less.)
Yeah I got the losing dice bit wrong, but put corrections in for it. Regarding Fortifying Falseface's health, it was currently at infinity which I imagine means it doesn't really exist to go up. Both designers watched the video before I published it and neither mentioned this (they did catch other small things) so I think I played this part right.
Thanks for clarifying. I probably would have ruled that two population would have been lost in the event of both tracks capping out, so it is nice to know that the game will be marginally less brutal. =)
I got destroyed in my first play at the same difficulty. I was overrun with barricades and they are all my due actions just trying to move around. There are dice so there will be variance there and I think I got a couple big breaks in this play that may make it look easier than it can be.
We played this at GenCon, and although we didn't win as we didn't know the strategy, it seems to be missing an extra layer with the epics that would make it more interesting.
I read that they had more custom abilities for the Epics at one point in the development process but felt that streamlining them down to icons made it better. I can certainly see room for more customized rules for different epics, but that could certainly get out of hand at the higher playercounts which was maybe one of their consideration.s
Gameplay seems great and I am really looking forward to try the game myself (if I find it because this is the first time I hear of it), but man those plastics pieces and colours are ugly.
I think they actually look pretty good, but you can get the Steelheart Edition from the company instead that has metal pieces. Kind of like a deluxe edition.

All the symbols and components make the game really intimidating, but you explain it all really well. Thank you for this!
I love Rodney's channel but now you're really killing it for what the "watch it played" brand is concerned! 😁
Great game mechanics. Visually awesome. Thematics look good. Replay-ability not so sure. Thanks for the presentation. I'll still probably buy it.

Thanks for the kind words, I'm glad these playthroughs have been so useful for you :)
Awesome playthrough as always, thanks, Jon! I think this is one the Mrs. and I could enjoy.

As long as Fortify works for at least 1 of the stats, then you don't need to lose a life. It's only when it works for neither that you lose a life.

Excellent playthrough. You sold me the game. Now, I just have to wait for it to arrive in France :)
It has just arrived to my home in France ! So happy !
Excellent playthrough! I want this game!
Looks like really good production quality and a cool IP. It looks like it could be on the easy side.

JonGetsGames Thanks for the reply. Great video, btw.
There are different difficulty levels so you can always make it harder if you want.
The high damage from Megan makes sense, but I wonder why they gave David double containment instead of double research?
I suppose that Tia has the highest research but indeed, it would have made sense for teh Epic nerd to be strong on research.
Thank you for the playthrough, Jon. It reminds me of the cooperative nature of Sentinels of the Multiverse. With dice, of course.
I'm glad you enjoyed it, I have yet to try Sentinels of the Multiverse but hope to have a chance some day.

Awesome!
Thanks for putting a dent in my wallet, Jon. :-p Just pre-ordered.
This would be awesome as a Batman game.
Bank vault for david is so thematic you wouldent know
One deck dungeon meetings aeons end..
so each players loose a die. i see. played it last night, fun game
It seems like the game will get a lot more complicated when there are more players.

Really cool, but not for $99+.
I find pointing at things with 2 fingers really wierd...just something to think about.
$70 for fiddly co-op yahtzee? no thanks.
