    Loving this monitor. I purchased it just over a year ago. The issues I had have since been fixed with firmware upgrades. My only issues are with certain games that have HDR as a feature. It's not that well implemented, which is a game issue, not an actual monitor issue. No buyer's remorse from me. OLED is still glorious for me. :)

      @@omsa831 it's just a small drawback imo and is still absolutely worth it. Unless there is direct light on the monitor, it's a non-issue. Ironically, you'd probably have more issues if the monitor had a gloss finish as the reflections would be more of a distraction than any matte finish would present. I own a C2 so I know both worlds.

    I returned this monitor back to microcenter just because of the constant black screen I get when gaming. Did the software update required to fix this issue and after the update the monitor did not respond and I just got a black screen. Spoke to ASUS and they wanted to charge me shipping fee for getting the monitor fixed... Idk why the software messed up the monitor. Followed the step by step SOP of doing the update. So I decided to go with the Samsung s43cg702 42.5! Sad I ran into this issue with the PG42UQ.... I saw online that many ppl ran into this issue with the black screen... Good thing you didn't run this problem!

    I've had mine for 10 months now and no real issues. It's still the best monitor on the market. I do notice the anti-glare Micro-texture coating, but only in super bright uniform color situations. The thing I wish I knew about all OLED screens is the issue with flickering which happens when fps fluctuates. It can be really noticeable in games that have a lot of dark environments.

    it takes about 3 to 4 years to see burn in some times and it also depends on how many hours it used. With A ton of hours on a burn-in might show up in the 3-4 year time frame. But since the monitor has a heatsink, it's likely burn-in won't show up until like 6-7 years.

    Completely agree with almost everything in the video. Only difference is I’m coming from an LG C2 and would pick this even with the pricing increase.
    Love this monitor with my short time using it.
    My first one was delivered with the screen damaged (thanks FedEx), my second one (delivered a day late, thanks again FedEx) had a pixel die (basically right in the center) after three days. Now my third one is running a day late (thanks yet again FedEx) but I can't wait to start using it again. Hopefully third time is the charm. I'm currently using the LG C2 and the reflections are killing me.

      @@OGtruthserum The speakers on the PG42QU are so much better than the C2, the fact that it acts like a monitor (I use it more as a monitor than a TV). The C2 even with the LG companion app is still not designed to be a monitor. The matte display (which a lot of people will disagree about) is much better for monitor use. I have a 77" LG C3 as my main TV in my living room and love the glossy display on it but I'm also not sitting a few feet away from it like I do with my PG42UQ.
      I'm sure a lot comes from the way I use the PG42QU. My main use is as a PC monitor, 8 - 10 hours a day I'm working on it logged into a virtual desktop for the company I work for. Then I will game on it (13900k and 4090) and last but not least I have a Nvidia Shield hooked up to it as well that I use to watch TV or movies every once in awhile.
      If I was buying a display for gaming on a console like a PlayStation or Xbox and to watch TV on I would pick the LG. If I needed another PC monitor I would buy the PG42QU again.

      @OGtruthserum Месяц назад

      @@bp328i Thank you for the detailed reply. I most likely will have to go with the C3 (C2 no longer available) or C4 (when it's on sale) because a 48" PG42QU is out of my price range. I have vision issue, and I can't play 95% of games on a 32" monitor. I don't want to take any more chances and just get a 48" to be safe. I try being safe with a 32" and it ended up being a waste of money and time---and time is money. Don't get me wrong, the Gigabyte gaming monitor that I bought is fantastic, but It's just too small for my poor vision.
      I heard the speaker on the C3 is noticeably better than the C2 as well. Since you have a C3, is it true? And is the speakers on both the C2 and C3 loud?

    • @bp328i
      @bp328i Месяц назад

      @@OGtruthserum When I bought the C3 I bought a sound bar setup at the same time, but yes the C3 has better built-in speakers than the C2. That being said, I'm not 100% sure that doesn't just come from the size difference between the two as my C2 is 48" and my C3 is 77". I've never looked into specs of the audio on them.

    • @OGtruthserum
      @OGtruthserum Месяц назад

      @@bp328i I would be happy with either, just waiting for a sale, if I am capable of waiting. I know Costco has C3 on sale (YMMV), but they are not the size for a monitor. If I could see on a 42-inch monitor, then two 42-inch monitor setup would be perfect for me for multi-tasking. Otherwise, one 48-inch monitor should do the trick.
      If it wasn't for my vision, my prefer setup is a 32:9 super ultrawide monitor. However, don't buy the state-of-the-art Samsung G9 and Neo G9, that monitor has the worst QC I have ever seen in all my years of buying electronics. Hopefully I get one soon until I get fix my vision issues.

And now I've discovered a dying pixel, right in the center. 4 months... this thing cost me ~$1400. Not only this, but I've been totally neurotic about keeping this thing in top shape: monitor sleep time set at 5 minutes, never leaving on a static image, and running pixel cleanings whenever prompted. im at 3 months, eyes DO NOT get tired. I play a lot of COD and the visuals are now spectacular. I switched from a 50 something inch ultrawide samsung odyssey g9 i think is what it was. But i prefer the resolution, brightness, and bright colors/crispiness of this monitor. Extremely responsive it is. Amazeballs. Unboxing it make your butt-cheeks pucker a little bit because it is that awesome.
      if u get it and it has the issue where it automaticcaly turns off after 4 hours, upgrade the firmware and it should resolve this.
      bear in mind tho (this is my worry) that sinc eits oled its succeptable to burn in. I play a lot of games but I do a lot of work on spreadsheets too but i said "screw it, lets see what happens" so....after long gaming sessions, or when I get up to leave or something, i will run the "pixel cleaning" feature, just to be on the safe side, not sure about this tho, if im doing the right thing.....i want to care for the monitor and take care of it so it lasts long.

    Have you noticed any VRR flickering on the pg42uq? I have the LG C3 and the flickering is so noticeable.
    Also, is the asus fully compatible with g-sync? As the LG c3 has issues with the g sync handshake and also states “not compatible” when it actually is.
    Basically, the flashing is driving me mad (even in 5 frame fluctuations) and having to reset my driver every time I start the computer to get g sync working has been really annoying.
    Please let me know. Thank you.

      No real issues with flickering, on a rare occasion I might notice something when overclocked to the 138hz but that’s pretty rare and it’s for a split second and then goes away. It works with g sync compatibility so you’re good there 👍🏻

      @@1UpNerdcore amazing, thank you. Last thing - How about with big frame rate fluctuations- like playing star citizen and loading in for the first time. Still no frame issues? Sorry for asking, but the c3 has really shook my confidence and I wanted to make sure before I ordered it.

      I got pg42uq recently and I have VRR gamma flicker on Warframe and Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Tried dozens of options but it's basically only helps capping fps/hz to not trigger VRR or disable gsync to suffer tearing. Big disappointment.
